Everything We Know About Olympic Champion Michael Johnson Suffering A Stroke

O lympic gold medal sprinter Michael Johnson announced Saturday that he’s recovering after recently suffering a mini-stroke. SEE ALSO:  Here’s How Colin Kaepernick Is Beating The NFL Johnson “surprisingly” had what’s known as a Transient Ischemic Attack, or TIA, last week, he said in a Twitter post . The retired athlete is now at home with his family after doctors cleared him of cardiac issues. He’s expected to make a full recovery, as Johnson continues to make significant progress. “It seems these things can affect anyone, even the once fastest man in the world!” he stated. “I’m no stranger to a good exercise plan and have thrown myself into it with my usual focus and determination. … I will be posting updates on my recovery often. Thanks for all the words of encouragement!” Michael Johnson: Four-time Olympic champion recovering after 'mini-stroke' https://t.co/OcqE5LGS8k — BBC News (UK) (@BBCNews) September 8, 2018 A TIA is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain, according to the American Stroke Association . TIAs are often labelled mini-strokes because they can be relatively minor in terms of immediate consequences. Since it doesn’t cause permanent damage, having a TIA is often ignored as no big deal, the stroke association said. However, it’s better viewed as a “warning stroke” because they could indicate a high likelihood of a more serious stroke. The four-time Olympic champion, who will turn 51 on Sept. 13, was once the fastest man in the world at 200 meter and 400-meter races, reported BBC News , where he works as an expert track and field commentator. Johnson participated in the Olympics three times, in 1992, 1996 and 2000. He was the first man to win both the 200 meter and 400-meter race at the same Olympic game (1996 in Atlanta). He’s also won eight gold medals at the IAAF World Championships from 1991- 1999 and was elected into the United States Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2004. Burberry Burns Millions Worth Of Unsold Clothes To Protect Brand Integrity

Source: KMazur / Getty The famous proverb waste not want seems to not hold any weight at the Burberry corporate offices. The luxury brand destroys thousands of pieces a year without blinking. According to a report by The New York Times  Burberry burned almost 38 million worth of unsold products last year. Even worse it is estimated that they have dumped close to $120 million in the last five years. The reason you ask? So, the pricey goods are not sold or seen being worn by the “wrong people.” Apparently, this practice is quite common in the upscale fashion community so the perceived worth of the label isn’t impacted. Maria Malone, fashion business lecturer explained it further to  BBC . “They don’t want Burberry products to get into the hands of anyone who can sell them at a discount and devalue the brand.” This makes you feel an odd sense of anguish and doom. https://t.co/ZsusmIMeSl — Russell Brand (@rustyrockets) July 20, 2018 Naturally, the news is causing quite the uproar with shareholders and environmentalists alike prompting Burberry to address the wastefulness. John Peace, Chairman, said burning the stock is “not something we do lightly” and CFO Julie Brown stated “we take it extremely seriously.” In the past Nike, H&M and watch brand Cartier have also been found guilty of trashing their unwanted inventory. Judge Has to Order 30-Year-Old Man to Move Out of Parents’ House

A 30-year-old grown ass man lost his court battle against his parents after a judge ruled that he does, in fact, have to move out of their house. This story is wild, but actually a bit more serious than people might first believe. We've included a video from the courthouse below, but that only tells part of the story. The full back-and-forth between New York State Supreme Court Justice Donald Greenwood and Michael Rotondo lasted approximately a half hour. Though the judge ordered that Rotondo would have to move out of his folks' house in Camillus, N.Y., outside Syracuse, he also ordered that Adult Protective Services investigate the situation. To a degree, perhaps Judge Greenwood was simply doing his due diligence in a case involving family members at home. But it is clear to anyone watching this case that something is … not right. It began when Rotondo's parents offered to help him to find an apartment and even offered him money, giving him over $1,000 … which he then used on “expenses” without moving. Following that, they stopped paying for his phone and … well, they ended up in court. Since first being reported, the Rotondo story has been picked up by  New York Post , Fox News, the BBC, and The Late Late Show with James Corden . Greenwood praised Rotondo's legal research after Rotondo pointed to a prior case in which it was determined that a family member had the right to six months between being served with an eviction and actually being required to leave. This period of time is designed so that someone can make enough money to secure new housing. There are all sorts of eviction laws to cover many situations. Greenwood patiently explained to Rotondo that there is an appellate court case that establishes that, in short, the case that Rotondo cited does not apply to his particular family situation. Rotondo referred to the judge's ruling as “outrageous.” Judge Greenwood referred to Rotondo's demand that he be allowed to remain as being similarly “outrageous.” Though the judge urged Rotondo to speak to his parents, Mark and Christina, and reach an amicable arrangement, Rotondo refused. After the court ruling, Rotondo spoke to the press who had gathered. Rotondo says that there have not been any “incidents” between him and his parents. In fact, he says that they effectively do not speak with each other. He says that they do not provide him with food or with laundry, but that they do provide him with a residence. He describes getting food in the kitchen as being similar to a buffet line, and that he waits for his parents to vacate the room before cooking his own meals. When asked what he does to support himself, Rotondo says that he has a business, but refused to identify it, instead saying: “My business is my business.” After speaking to the press, he returned to his parents' house. He plans to attempt to appeal the ruling. Here is why this is serious. Rotondo has a son, of whom he does not have custody. From our understanding, it looks like he has attempted to sue for custody on the grounds that not having custody is discrimination against him, as a “poor person.” It seems that he fears that accepting money from his parents and having his own residence, while normally things that would make a person seem like a more viable parent, would undercut his bid for custody. If your parents are just handing you over $1,000, it's kind of hard to argue that you're impoverished. Another cause for worry is that Rotondo has a 2009 arrest for allegedly stalking a woman at her home. Many have speculated that Rotondo may have certain unresolved … issues. But obviously, he is in no way representative of most people who live at home. With two decades of wage stagnation while rent and housing prices continue to climb, it is increasingly difficult for even employed adults to find housing. Though a lot of media attention to the Rotondo case has likely been due to older generations finding amusement at the idea of a man so accustomed to being pampered that he'd rather go to court than move out, there's more going on here. And, again, there are plenty of young adults who would love nothing more than to move out … and would be happy to, if they started making a living wage. We hope that Rotondo's story has a happy ending. Perhaps APS will be able to assist Rotondo by connecting him to whichever resources he needs.

Folks Hilariously React To The First Modern Briton Possibly Being Black

Source: Anders Blomqvist / Getty A new DNA analysis of Britain’s oldest complete skeleton may change the game on how we think about race. According to the groundbreaking study , the first modern Britons, who lived more than 10,000 years ago, had blue eyes and “dark to black” skin. The fossil used for the study is known as Cheddar Man and it was unearthed more than a century ago. Cheddar Man: DNA shows early Brit had dark skin https://t.co/h4oMUWV0qg — BBC News (UK) (@BBCNews) February 7, 2018 Cheddar Man lived shortly after the first settlers traveled from continental Europe to Britain at the end of the last ice age. People with White British ancestry would be a descendent of Cheddar Man’s population.  A whole documentary on the subject called  First Brit: Secrets of the 10,000 Year Old Man  is set to air on Britain’s Channel 4 on February 18. With Cheddar Man being possibly perceived as Black by today’s standards, Twitter obviously had a lot to say. Swipe through to read people’s reactions!

Megyn Kelly to Jane Fonda: STFU, You Hypocrite!

Megyn Kelly has put Jane Fonda on blast. There's a sentence we're guessing you didn't expect to read today. But the NBC anchor took a few moments out from her program on Monday to address the quasi feud brewing between her and Fonda, which started a few weeks ago when the veteran actress sat down for an interview with Kelly. Fonda was on hand at the time to promote the film  Our Souls at Night – and she did not respond kindly to Kelly bringing up her many plastic surgery procedure on air. “I read that you said you felt you're not proud to admit that you've had work done. Why not?” Kelly asked of Fonda, who responded tersely: “We really want to talk about that now?” The exchange went viral because, well, it was very awkward. And now Kelly has gone on the offensive against Fonda, explaining why she pursued this line of questioning and calling Fonda out. Hard. “When she first complained publicly after the program and repeatedly, I chose to say nothing as my general philosophy is what other people think of me is none of my business,” Kelly opened. “However, Fonda was at it again last week including here on NBC and then again elsewhere, so it's time to address the 'poor me' routine.” Oh, yes, Kelly held nothing back in this mini rant. “First, some context,” she explained, prior to adding: “Fonda was on to promote a film about aging. For years she has spoken openly about her joy in giving a cultural face to older women. “Well, the truth is most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now 80 and if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women's cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore. “Fonda herself knows this. She knows this and that is why, to her credit, she has discussed her cosmetic surgery pretty much everywhere before coming on our show.” The show then aired a handful of clips of Fonda talking about her plastic surgery to various outlets and her reasoning for it. Kelly's general point is that Fonda has opened the plastic surgery door many times and was out of line in making it look like Kelly was out of line for bringing it up. “Apparently, when she came here, however, again to promote her film about aging, I was supposed to discern that this subject was suddenly off-limits,” Kelly continued. “Look, I gave her the chance to empower other women, young and old, on a subject which she purports to know well and she rejected it. That's ok, but I have no regrets about that question, nor am I in the market for a lesson from Jane Fonda on what is and is not appropriate. “After all, this is a woman whose name is synonymous with outrage.” From here, Kelly brought up Fonda's comments during the Vietnam War, saying the actress set out to “shame” American troops. She also took Fonda to task for more recently telling the BBC that she was NOT proud of her country because it elected Donald Trump as President . But she is proud of the “resistance.” Seriously, Kelly went deep with this take-down. “So, the moral indignation is a little much,” she concluded of Fonda. “She put her plastic surgery out there. She said she wanted to discuss the plight of older women in America and honestly she has no business lecturing anyone on what qualifies as offensive.” Watch the full slamming below:

Shaquille O’Neal And Big Shaq Are In A Really Interesting Rap Beef

View original post here:

Source: Joe Murphy / Getty If you haven’t heard of Big Shaq , you’ve probably seen at least one meme about his famous “freestyle” that ended up going viral. He fooled everyone into thinking he was a (hilariously bad) rapper, but is actually British comedian named Michael Dapaah playing a character. His freestyle went viral back in early September when his “The Ting Goes” meme completely popped off, following his appearance on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “Fire in the Booth.” That same freestyle was also the result of the ever-quotable “Mans Not Hot,” a song that showed up on iTunes very shortly after it took place. A few weeks after the song dropped, the real-deal Shaquille O’Neal heard about it, and decided to release a diss track aimed at the man calling himself Big Shaq. In the track, he declares that there is “only one Big Shaq” and then proceeded to throw some more jabs in the British rapper’s direction. He also collaborated on the song with a rapper from Toronto named ShaqIsDope , making things all the more confusing in this Shaq v. Shaq beef. The diss track against him only fueled Big Shaq’s momentum. He turned right back around and released a video for his viral track “Mans Not Hot” nearly 2 weeks after Shaq’s diss track hit the internet, which quickly gained millions of views. The music video created even more longevity for a viral sensation that wasn’t going to die any time soon. One day following the release of his music video, Big Shaq then responded to Shaq by performing a remix of “Mans Not Hot” for  Bleacher Report, which is also labeled as a diss to the former Laker.   And for the latest in beef news, it seems like Mr. O’Neal caught wind of the track aimed at him. On Monday night, he took to Instagram to address Big Shaq for a second time. He called the rapper a fraud and referred to him as “fake Shaq,” also telling him to “#learnhowtorap.” That’s the end of the beef, for now, but who knows what will happen later on. Maybe all Shaqs can live together happily ever after and release a song together.
