George Michael Crashes Car Into Building, Arrested

Another year, another arrest for George Michael. The singer was taken in Sunday night on suspicion of being unfit to drive, following a bizarre accident in which he crashed his car into a London building. The BBC has confirmed that Michael was behind the wheel and has been released on bail. This is just the latest in a series of arrests for Michael. He faced drug possession charges in 2007 when he was found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle in Hyde Park. Two years later, he was arrested for DUI, but released without charges. In a statement, the singer says: “I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I’ll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them.” We have no idea what George Michael is talking about. The guy is many things. Boring is not one of them.

George Michael Arrested After Crashing Into Building

The 47-year-old singer was booked on suspicion of being unfit to drive. By Gil Kaufman The Snappy Snaps photo store in London on Sunday Photo: Splash News George Michael was arrested in London on Sunday after police received reports that a car had crashed into a building. According to BBC News, the 47-year-old singer was booked on suspicion of being unfit to drive after being taken to a north London police station. Michael posted bail and was ordered to return in August for a court date. Sky News reported that police arrested the pop star after viewing closed-circuit TV footage of his Range Rover jumping a curb and smashing into the Snappy Snaps shop in Hampstead around 3:30 a.m., reportedly after attending London’s gay pride parade. The former Wham! singer had regained his driving privileges just last year after having them suspended in 2007 for two years on charges of driving while unfit due to drugs. In that case, he was accused of smashing into three parked cars and driving off without alerting the cars’ owners. The singer, an admitted heavy marijuana smoker, was arrested in February 2006 after witnesses reported a car obstructing the road. Police found Michael slumped over the wheel of his car and a search turned up controlled substances. Three months later, he was again found passed out in a vehicle; he then smashed into a traffic divider after another driver woke him up. In October 2006, he was found unconscious in his car and taken to a local hospital and charged with possession of marijuana. This latest arrest marks the seventh driving-related incident for George Michael . He was arrested last year for suspicion of driving under the influence when his Rover hit a truck, and he was arrested again in September 2008 in a public restroom for being in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine and marijuana; he didn’t face charges, but was cautioned by police. BA compensates man ‘humiliated’ over child seat policy

BBC News Mirko Fischer, his wife Stefanie and daughter Sophia Mirko Fischer said he worried what message was being sent to children BA has compensated a passenger who was “humiliated' over its policy of not allowing single male flyers to sit next to solo child travellers on its planes. British Airways cabin crew told Mirko Fischer to move after he swapped seats with his wife and ended up sitting next to a boy he did not know. Mr Fischer, 33, accused staff of harassing him and said the policy contravened the Sex Discrimination Act. BA apologised to the businessman but denied the policy was discriminatory. A spokesman told the BBC the policy was now under review. A consent order detailing a settlement between the parties was drawn up at Slough County Court on Wednesday. Mr Fischer was on a flight from London back to his home in Luxembourg on 20 April 2009 when his pregnant wife Stefanie asked him to swap seats so she could sit next to the window. He took her middle seat. Anger He claimed cabin crew told him to return to his original seat as the child next to him was an unaccompanied minor. The crew said the company's policy was not to allow adult males to sit next to unaccompanied children. But Mr Fischer said he felt he was treated as if he was a potential “child molester”. He said: “I felt humiliated and outraged. They accuse you of being some kind of child molester just because you are sitting next to someone.” Continue reading the main story We had 75,000 children fly with us last year and it is an issue we take very seriously BA spokesman BA 'victimises male passengers' Your comments Mr Fischer, who was represented by Daniel Tivadar from law firm 3 Hare Court, said there was a brief discussion and he returned to his seat but felt “embarrassed, humiliated and angry”. He complained to the airline by letter and the airline confirmed the policy, stating it related to adult males travelling alone. Mr Fischer said he was being treated differently to female passengers and therefore BA was breaking the law. He said the conversation he had with cabin crew on the flight “constituted unwanted conduct that related to his sex” and violated his dignity. He also said this consequently created an uncomfortable environment for him on the plane. He said: “There were no raised voices but we were in a public place and there were obviously people around us wondering what was happening.” BA initially defended itself and said when staff originally made the request they genuinely believed Mr Fischer was travelling alone and had no intention of embarrassing, humiliating or angering him by asking him to return to his allocated seat. Mr Fischer said he suffered “loss and damage of injury to his feelings” and had sought compensation. 'No flexibility' BA is understood to have admitted sex discrimination in Mr Fischer's case and agreed to pay

It’s summertime in the world of on-demand movies, and there’s an extra charge that movies get and give from sun-baked seasonal alignment. In other words, you should be as lucky as I am to so vividly remember the summer of ’75, when Jaws came out…

25 Things to Hate About Ryan, The Real World’s Worst Cast Member

The Real World used to cast a bunch of slightly mismatched young adults with obvious ideological and cultural differences, but for the past seven years (give or take), they’ve chosen six archetypes and one totally toxic center. We had Ayiiia in Cancun , Paula in Key West , and now in Back to New Orleans we have Ryan Leslie, a Tempe, Arizona hairstylist who flits, fumes, and remarks about a female castmate’s miniskirt, “You’re just asking to get raped.” Yep, a charmer on all fronts. And there’s 25 more bullets where that came from — just from last night’s premiere! Can you name them? Ready? Go!

Liverpool talk to Manuel Pellegrini over vacant manager’s job

• Kenny Dalglish meets former Real Madrid coach • Roy Hodgson remains favourite to take over at Anfield Manuel Pellegrini, the former Real Madrid coach, has held talks with Kenny Dalglish over the managerial vacancy at Liverpool despite Roy Hodgson remaining the club’s preferred candidate to succeed Rafael Benítez at Anfield. Pellegrini was dismissed by Real last month for failing to deliver in the Champions League or beat Barcelona to the title, although he did produce a club record 96 points during his one and only season at the Bernabéu. The Chilean’s agent last night denied reports that the 56-year-old met Dalglish at Heathrow airport but Pellegrini was in England yesterday and did meet the Liverpool legend who is overseeing the search for Benítez’s replacement alongside the managing director, Christian Purslow. Dalglish has told the Liverpool board that he would like the job in the absence of any superior candidates. Negotiations with Pellegrini, who worked with the Liverpool goalkeeperJosé Reina during a successful five-year spell in charge of Villarreal, reveal that Anfield officials are working through a short-list of candidates to succeed Benítez, although it is understood Hodgson remains top of that list. The Fulham manager has yet to receive an official approach from Liverpool and last night reaffirmed his contentment at Craven Cottage from South Africa, where he is commentating for the BBC. Asked about Liverpool’s interest, Hodgson said: “I’m happy at Fulham. It is all speculation and I can’t enlighten you. I don’t know any more than you do.” An official move for Hodgson from Liverpool is anticipated next week, however. Liverpool Roy Hodgson Kenny Dalglish Andy Hunter guardian.co.uk
