Photo by Jim Bennett/Getty Images Vince Staples Is Getting Into Acting With New Lead Film Role Vince Staples is so much more than a rapper, and now he’s adding even more to his resume. Not only is he a musician and Sprite’s number one ambassador, but not, he’s getting into the acting world as well. The Long Beach native has just landed his first leading role in the film, Punk , which is going to be directed by Richard Hughes, who will also be making his debut as a director. Punk is said to be centered around the protagonist Peter, played by Staples, who goes on a road trip with some free-spirited people after receiving some disappointing news via a rejection letter. While embarked on said trip, Peter will learn that he contrary to what he might have believed, he doesn’t really know the people around him as well as he previously thought. He ends up finding out while on the trip that he is on the road with a group of bank robbers and someone who is on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Braden Aftergood will produce the movie. Aftergood has previously produced movies including 2012’s Battleship and this year’s Siberia . Kavanaugh-Jones worked on this year’s Insidious: The Last Key . This wouldn’t be Vince’s first time working within the movie world. The Long Beach rapper has had his music featured in the film Creed with the track “Waiting For My Moment” along with his contribution to the Black Panther soundtrack. Aside from his flourishing acting career, the rapper has just wrapped up a tour across the United States with Childish Gambino. As of now, no release date has been revealed for Vince’s upcoming leading role, but be on the lookout for Punk to make it to the big screen sometime soon.
This story has everything: teenagers, a police investigation, and cannibalism. See, a California teen baked her late grandfather’s ashes into sugar cookies. She then brought these cookies to school and handed them out for classmates to eat . Someone is believed to have baked her own grandfather’s ashes into sugar cookies. That someone was a female high school student at Da Vinci Charter Academy, a public charter school in California. Because she is a minor, she has remained unidentified — which is good. What is not so good is that she brought the sugar cookies in to school and handed them out to at least nine other students. Some of the students are said to have eaten the cookies unaware of what they contained. But some of the students apparently knew exactly what they were getting. Davis Police Lt. Paul Doroshov confirmed that the unorthodox ingredient wasn’t a shock to all of the students. “Some students knew beforehand and still consumed the cookies,” Doroshov confirmed to the L.A. Times . Some who heard this story of course wondered if the cookies genuinely contained human remains, or it if was some prank. When asked if the claim was credible, Doroshov reportedly sighed. “Yeah,” he affirmed. Curiously, apparently another female student was involved in bringing the cookies to school. it’s unclear why she was involved, as the two young women are not related. Regardless, police were at a loss to categorize what happened as a crime. Some considered a California law regarding the improper disposal of remains. Others suggested that some sort of public nuisance charge would be more appropriate. Ultimately, it appears that no real harm was done and that this was the result of juvenile impulsiveness. In light of that, police have reportedly left it up to the school to figure out how to respond to something like this happening. As weird as this sounds to all of us, a lot of adolescent behavior is incomprehensible to adults. The brain is still maturing and hormones are more or less in charge. Still, multiple people have heard this story and openly wondered whatever happened to baking marijuana into food “like a normal person.” One of the students who ate one of these yikes-worthy cookies (just in time for Halloween, no less) spoke about the experience. He said that the cookies had visible gray flakes within them. Apparently the act of eating the cookies reminded him of chewing on sand as a child at the beach. He described being able to feel granules crunching against his molars. Our only response to that is to say, in contemporary internet parlance: Thanks, I hate it! In a letter to parents, Da Vinci Charter Academy Principal Tyler Millsap addressed the issue. “This issue going on right now has been particularly challenging and our staff has responded appropriately,” he wrote. He praised staff for responding “in the most respectful and dignified way possible for all the students and families involved.” “I can say that those who were involved are remorseful,” he confirmed. “And,” he concluded. “This is now a personal family matter and we want to respect the privacy of the families involved.” He also pointed out that there is fortunately no health risk. This sort of thing should not happen again. You can make seasonal cookies in October without including cremated remains. In part, it’s about consent — people should know what they’re eating. In part, it’s about respect for the dead and for her own family. We know that, for centuries, powder made from Egyptian mummies was regularly consumed all across Europe as a “medicine.” That does not mean that it was good for anyone or that it should happen again.

Remember when Nate dropped all that bombshell info on Annalise about Bonnie only to find out that the kidnapper was Bonnie’s sister? Well, Annalise is pissed at him for digging and of course, they argue about it. Nate thinks Bonnie needs to know what happened. Annalise says that Bonnie still believes the baby was born dead (Bonnie never even saw the baby) and that Bonnie’s sister probably sold the baby for smack. Plus, as we know, Bonnie was 15 when she had the baby due to rape and Annalise really just wants him to stop playing private eye. However, Nate is persistent and adds that Bonnie should know because Denver had all this info on her so there’s a chance it could come out anyway. Nate then tries it even further by saying Annalise should be the one to tell Bonnie since she knows her best but Annalise delivers a subtle but powerful read when she informs him that he doesn’t have the right to mess with anyone’s trauma. We all know that Nate continues lurking around anyway and ends up finding the presumed missing boy (who is now grown). That young man looks nothing like Gabriel (this kid is blond, white and a dope fiend). So wait, is Gabriel not Bonnie’s son? Who else thought Gabriel might be Bonnie’s son? There goes HTGAWM with the Jedi mind tricks again! But why is Frank stalking Gabriel if it’s not that he’s Bonnie’s son? We get the answer later on. It’s because Frank usually digs up background information on Annalise’s students (to help her put together her clinic). We also learn that Oliver has been digging up dirt on Gabriel for Annalise too! Oliver discovers that Gabriel beat up a doctor. Said doctor had been prescribing Gabriel’s mother pills. Earlier in the episode, Gabriel reveals that he had a bad relationship with his mother because she had a substance abuse problem. Naturally, Annalise’s kids also decide to find out what dirt Annalise has on them too. Connor gets pissed when he finds out that Annalise is the one who got him back in school (she put in a call because he was failing). That’s what happens when you go digging for stuff you ain’t really trying to see. In other news, they’re still trying to get Nate Sr. out of prison and prepping him on what to say for his psych evaluation. Annalise coaches Nate Sr. about what to say, hoping that the assessment will be that he didn’t know what he was doing when he committed the murder he committed in prison (that extended his sentence). Annalise’s coaching works (of course), which means they get to use insanity as a defense in the retrial. The episode winds down with Nate getting DNA results on that young man he was watching earlier in the episode and he shares them with Annalise. Now we fast forward a bit to Annalise explaining to Bonnie that Nate was investigating the files Denver had on her and that the DNA didn’t match. The young man that Nate found isn’t Bonnie’s son. So now we’re all like, so is it Gabriel after all? Bonnie gets upset because Nate told her he destroyed the file and wonders out loud why he would do this. Annalise explains that Nate’s situation with his dad is the motivator, which he did mention earlier in the episode. He felt that reconnecting with his dad inspired him to try to get Bonnie to connect with the son she never had. Bonnie starts sobbing, not quite believing that Nate had good intentions. Annalise comforts her with an embrace and tells her to let her know whether she wants to pursue it or not. Then we cut to a month and a half later. You guessed it, we’re back at the wedding. This is after Michaela confronts Bonnie in the bathroom. Oliver is missing and so is Nate. Michaela calls Nate’s phone and we see that Bonnie has Nate’s phone. She looks at its screen and doesn’t answer when she sees who it is. But like, WHY DOES BONNIE HAVE NATE’S PHONE!!!! And all of our hearts sink. Finally, we see Annalise returning home. She stumbles inside of her apartment, clearly distraught, drops to her knees and completely loses it. It’s not looking too good for Nate. Grandson is over. By which we mean that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson split , mostly because of bad timing. Now, some fans of Pete’s ex, Cazzie David, think that those two will get back together. In fact, they fear it — and are publicly urging Cazzie to keep Pete out of her life. Fans who admire Cazzie David are terrified that Pete will come crawling back to her — and that she’ll accept. “Don’t take him back,” implored one of Cazzie’s fans. “I REPEAT don’t take him back!!” For the record, she wasn’t saying that she would and he wasn’t saying that he was going to try to reconnect with her. “Girl we all knew it wasn’t gonna last,” wrote another follower. That follower continued: That relationship was pure lust. You are too good for him.” We can’t agree with the characterization that Pete and Ariana were only dating for the banging, but sure, that was part of it. Others didn’t flock to Cazzie’s social media to give advice. They just wanted to share their opinion. “Honey,” one announced. “You won the breakup.” That doesn’t sound like a healthy way to look at a breakup. “Yup he got his karma,” declared another. “Living the luxury life now it’s cut off.” Pete wasn’t with Ariana for her money and he’s not exactly a pauper himself, but okay. “If ur lowkey sad about Pete,” wrote another. “Just know that u honestly lost nothing.” That’s supportive but also mean. Cazzie and Pete broke up a relatively short time before Pete started dating Ariana. (Ariana had recently broken up with Mac Miller — the same good timing that brought them together became bad timing and split them up) Cazzie hasn’t exactly been outspoken about Pete’s relationship with — and engagement to — Ariana. Instead, she responded to the news with a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post: “Been in Africa. What’d I miss??” That sounds cheerful enough. And that’s no less than what we’d expect from Larry David’s daughter and a woman who’s an actress, writer, and comedian in her own right. Cazzie never even publicly responded to the rumors about Pete Davidson’s impressive dong . (But you know that people in her life had to be itching to ask her about it, right?) But we don’t see any reason for her fans to “worry” that she’ll go running back to Pete. First of all, they had broken up before he and Ariana hooked up. He just moved on really quickly. That happens sometimes. Second of all, Pete is reportedly deep in his feelings about this Ariana business. It’s always possible that he and Cazzie could date again, since exes try it again all of the time. But it doesn’t seem likely. News about Ariana and Pete’s split broke over the weekend. Ariana has also shared that she is stepping back from social media because she is feeling overwhelmed. “Ok today was v special and i’m so grateful i was able to be there,” Ariana wrote to her fans and followers. Ariana then announced: “Time to say bye bye to the internet for just a lil bit.” “it’s hard not to bump news n stuff that i’m not tryna to see rn,” she explained. “it’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep goin,” Ariana concluded. “Love u. and thank u for bein here always. ” When it comes to news that Ariana would rather avoid, it comes in two forms. One, speculation about her split with Pete. She understands that people are curious, but she just wants to avoid seeing it right now. We totally get that. Two, people are still discussing her late ex, Mac Miller, who’s death is believed to have been one of the nails in the coffin of her engagement. We hope that Ariana and Pete get the space and emotional support that they need right now. And we kind of hope that fans, well-meaning or no, stop telling Cazzie David what to do with her life. A couple of weeks ago the State Of The Culture host offered his two cents on Cardi B’s recent run in turned shoe throwing incident with Nicki Minaj. Naturally his critique did not sit well with her husband. Last week the Migos member claimed he bumped into the “Pump It Up” rapper and Budden took off running. He detailed the interaction or lack there of in the comments section of a Shade Room post. “I watched ya show u a grown ass n*gga speaking on women I seen u in Barnes and u ran like I was gone do sum to you lol. U a hoe ass N***a soon u get touched u gone be police.” Considering Budden has a long history of wanting all the smoke the accusations made a lot of noise on the internet. Joey made sure to address the alleged backsliding on his show. On the last episode of The Joe Budden Podcast the New Jersey native detailed his version of events. “I don’t know why I still think I’m the guy that can hold a piss. He saw me, I didn’t see him.” He went to confirm his stance on Bardi. “She is great and amazing and I want her to continue to be here. I don’t want to lose her to police, to jail, to hatin’ bi***es. New York is rocking right now and Cardi’s a big part of that”. More importantly, he cleared the air and confirmed he doesn’t want any Rap beef with Offset. “I love Cardi I’m not about to beef with a n*gga over his wife that I love. I thought that was our common ground [laughs]. I was saying Cardi was too big a superstar to behave that way ’cause people have it out for her period.” This is not the first time Budden has rubbed the Migos camp the wrong way. In 2017 while still working at Complex , he famously walked off when interviewing the Trap trio. Month’s later he became the subject of their song “Ice Tray” where his name was interchanged as slang for being a hater.
