It Seems Trevante Rhodes Is Engaged, Y’all

It looks as though the 29-year-old actor is engaged to be married to fitness model Mara Wright . According to TheYBF, a family member of Wright’s posted a picture of the couple to her InstaStories with a “Congratulations” banner, hearts, and as you can see, a rock on that  finger. In the slide that follows the image, Rhodes can be be seen raising a glass with people who seem to be members of Wright’s family as they speak in German. She is trained in martial arts, including Tae Kwon Do, karate and jiu-jitsu. She’s also done sword, staff and dagger training because…why not? Amber Portwood: Look! My Daughter Still Loves Me!

Amber Portwood is one-for-two at the moment. She has two kids, and she’s allowed to spend time with one of them without a court-mandated supervisor hanging around to make sure the child is safe. That’s better than being zero-for-two in this department, we suppose. The embattled Teen Mom OG star was arrested over a month ago and charged with three felonies. She’s accused of attacking boyfriend Andrew Glennon on the morning of July 5; first by hurling a shoe at his head and then, according to the police report, of using a machete to try and break into the couple’s bathroom. Glennon was hiding behind the door of this bathroom with the pair’s infant son, James, at the time. Andrew quickly filed for full custody of the 14-month old. At a subsequent hearing, a judge dismissed a no-contact order against Portwood that had been filed by his dad on behalf of James and said she was permitted to see her son… not not by herself. Amber is allowed, however, to spend unsupervised time with her 10-year old daughter, Leah.   And that’s where the two above photos come in, along with the following caption, written by Amber this past Saturday: “Just missing one beautiful man. However this beauty put a smile on my face as always.” It’s unclear just when Amber will get to see James next. Leah, though, lives with Portwood’s ex, Gary Shirley, and his wife. Despite a very contentious history between Amber and Gary (she was arrested of assaulting him as well, back in 2010), these two are now on such solid terms that Shirley recently Tweeted his support for Portwood . “All I could ask is for is @AmberLPortwood to be happy & healthy,” Shirley wrote late last month, prior to using this arrest scandal to promote a new episode of Teen Mom OG. He received some flak for doing so. The veteran MTV personality welcomed Leah in 2008. James then arrived in May of 2018, after which Portwood suffered from such a serious bout of postpartum depression that she says she once considered hanging herself. In the several months since, Portwood has been open about her mental health struggles — and Glennon has stood by his girlfriend the entire time. She has even credited him with saving her life on more than one occasion. So… what prompted this recent (alleged) attack? We can’t say for certain. And the answer may simply be that Amber is admittedly unstable. However, she has also implied in recent days that Glennon is a drunk driver who was also cheating on her . Would this excuse or justify her attack? No, of course not. But it  would give us at least some insight into what she may have been thinking at the time of the incident. Children’s Cartoon Shows White Character Losing Her Beauty And Turning Into A Black Woman [VIDEO]

Source: Miguel Sanz / Getty Update:  After the backlash, MyPinguTv  apologized in a new video with an edited ending.  Any conscious Black person will tell you that racism is alive and well. Still, it has the ability to catch us off guard when we least expect it, in the most unassuming places. Today’s example comes from a children’s cartoon. According to Shadow and Act, a cartoon called “Dina and the Prince Story,” from the children’s YouTube channel MyPinguTV, showed the main character, Dinah losing her beauty. The loss of her beauty was punishment for speaking, which she had been forbidden to do. The problem just wasn’t about her losing her beauty for speaking. (That’s another topic for another day.) The bigger, more glaring issue is the fact that when Dina “lost” her beauty, she was transformed into a Black woman, with big, curly hair. When the Prince comes and sees that her appearance has changed, she explains that the reason she’s “ugly” is because she disobeyed. The Prince says that her looks don’t matter, that he loves her anyway. Because he truly loves her, her looks return. You can watch the scene where it all happens in the video below. White supremacy is able to teach our children to hate themselves because anti-Blackness is normalized at every level of this racist society. Oooh the drama… It’s unclear how long the two have been dating, but just last September, the beauty gave birth to her first child with fellow model Adonis Basso. His name is Saphir. For the record though, Woods never outright claimed Basso as her partner. Anfisa Nava Bashes Body-Shamers: My Muscles ARE Feminine!

Last month, Anfisa Nava conquered at ther very first bodybuilding competition . She’s always looked good in a bikini, but she went through a radical body transformation to qualify and to win. Now, Anfisa is clapping back at body-shamers who tell her that she’s too muscular. People have tried to say all sorts of things about Anfisa’s new figure, as if it were their business. Clearly, she has been aware of these critics all along. “They say ‘Muscles make you look manly’…” Anfisa’s caption begins. She continues: “I personally have never felt more feminine and happy than I do now.” Hey, good for her! “It’s all about how you feel on the inside,” Anfisa correctly affirms. “And not what you look like on the outside.” That’s true with self-confidence, gender expression, and so much more. “All shapes and sizes can be beautiful,” she accurately states. Anfisa notes that this beauty is possible “as long as you live in harmony with yourself.” That’s a really encouraging message — especially from someone whose recent body transformation was so dramatic. Right on the heels of her victory, it would be easy for Anfisa to ignore hateful comments. Instead, she’s reminding everyone that what is or is not “girly” is incredbily subjective. Anfisa herself is clearly over the moon about her recent awards. “To be honest I still can’t believe I won every class I competed in last weekend,” Anfisa gushed. “Only when I look at the photos and my trophies,” she admitted. “I realize that it actually happened!” Anfisa’s bodybuilding was a means to an end — and also something to pass the time while Jorge remains in prison. But some people didn’t like the look on her body. They felt that she looked too lean, or too muscular, or both. Those same people decided to be very vocal about their opinions on social media. Having a strong opinion one way or the other on someone’s appearance is mostly normal. Trying to make that opinion Anfisa’s problem by tell her about it is not okay. It’s not like she’s gonna f–k you either way. Anfisa’s diet comes down to what she eats and how much of it. She has explained that she trimmed down by making food herself instead of going out to eat. Anfisa then coupled that with ecercise to build muscle. The final and most difficult step was a non-sustainable starvation diet undertaken in the days before the competition. That was the diet that made her muscles especially visible. Now that the competition is over, Anfisa is on a “reverse-diet” to try to restore some of her body’s energy reserves. It wasn’t so many months ago — last December, really — that this was just an idea in Anfisa’s mind. She worked hard and made it happen. It looks like she could have a real future in this bodybuilding “hobby” that she chose for herself. Of course, in only about 13 months, her husband Jorge may be released from prison. (That is expected, but he may have to wait a few months longer than that) Anfisa may want to keep up with her career after he comes home, or she may not. Either way, more power to her.
