Hip-Hop is an arena where homophobia is commonplace. There hasn’t been a rapper with wide mainstream success to come out as gay or bisexual. It looks like the gay community might have a hip-hop representative in Azealia Banks . She has been hailed as The Next Big Thing and in a recent interview with The New York Times , Banks was quoted saying: “Ms. Banks considers herself bisexual, but, she said: “I’m not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don’t live on other people’s terms.’” Although Azealia Banks doesn’t want to be the poster child for bisexuality in hip-hop, if she blows up the way tastemakers are predicting, she just might be thrust into the role. Rihanna has added to her art collection by dishing out $160,000 for a Marilyn Monroe portrait … made of 65,000 crystals. Rihanna hired British artist Claire Milner to create the giant piece, which took four months to complete and weighs 182 pounds. Milner tells Britain’s The Sun , “I tried to show the glitter of the public life and then the sadness in Marilyn’s eyes. Because of who Rihanna is, everything had to be done through her interior decorators. But they told me afterwards that she loved it.” The portrait is made of 100% Swarovski crystal and sends rainbows around the room. Rihanna has spent a fortune decorating her Los Angeles home, which features a gun-shaped chandelier and a Bob Marley tribute painting in her red, yellow and green “reggae room.”
