She’s baaaa-aaaaack! Kelly Rowland Set To Replace Britney Spears As X-Factor Judge Via Huffington Post UK She might have got the boot from the UK version of ‘The X Factor’ but Kelly Rowland is set to make a return to the US version of the show according to reports. The former Destiny’s Child star is frontrunner to replace Britney Spears on the judging panel of the third series of the singing competition when it airs later this year. Kelly first appeared on the UK version of the show in 2011 when she joined Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh on the judging panel but left after just one series. At the time she said: “I love the UK and being part of the show last year. Mentoring the girls was such an incredible experience I will never forget. I would like to thank Simon for the great opportunity and asking me to be a judge last season.” But now it looks like the ‘When Love Takes Over’ singer will be joining Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and a fourth, as yet unannounced, judge on the show. A source told The Mail Online: “Kelly knows the X Factor, she’s aware of what it takes to be a judge and she’s also outspoken. “Simon has always remained a fan of Kelly’s and she’s most definitely in the mix to join the judging panel on X Factor USA.” Would Kelly and all her chocolatey-ness make you tune into the singing competition? Fired Fox Sports Executive Files Discrimination Lawsuit A disgruntled African-American executive at Fox Sports who alleges that he was constantly looked over for promotions before eventually being fired after 15 years of employment is claiming in a recent lawsuit that his unfavorable experiences at the network were due to the fact that he was black. via Deadline The plaintiff Jerry Davis alleges in a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court that the Fox Sports Corporate Group currently employs 34 executives above the VP level – and not one of them is black: “Indeed, to the best of Mr. Davis’s knowledge, no Black person has ever held any position at or above vice president in that division’s entire 19-year existence. Representation of Black individuals in leadership positions in other sports divisions at FOX is, and always has been, similarly abysmal. [Davis claims that] Despite his repeated and express interest in the [Fox Sports VP of Music] position, his superior education, skills, and performance as well as strong support from senior-level colleagues of various Fox music departments and other FOX Sports departments, Mr. Davis was denied the promotion each and every time. Fox Sports denied Mr. Davis the promotion each time because, as a Black man, he did not fit neatly into the company’s corporate culture.” Davis maintains he did not receive a single promotion during his entire career at Fox Sports because of his race. The Fox network is no stranger to being known for openly throwing shade to minorities. Do you think Mr. Davis’ case will stand a chance in court?

If only someone had been there for Junior Seau … Former NFL Players Talk Another Recently Retired Player Out Of Suicide Via CBSSports An NFL linebacker recently retired, and as has happened so many times before, to so many players who have difficulty making the transition from playing to regular life, a series of frightening thoughts began to enter into his mind. The former player thought about killing himself. It wasn’t the first time he had thoughts of suicide, but these thoughts seemed more serious. The player’s wife became so concerned for not just his safety, but hers, that she contacted the NFL. Two ex-players from the NFL’s new league initiative that uses former players to coach recently retired ones responded. The three former players spent three days together. The players themselves bonded over having been in the NFL and talked bluntly about how difficult it is to leave the game and the money and the accolades and become a normal person again. At the end of the three days, the player was no longer talking about taking his own life but instead was talking about the future. The wife of the player sent an emotional email to the NFL and the two players who talked a player away from the brink. It read: “I just wanted to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to the two of you for what you did for my husband over the weekend! He is so enthusiastic about seeing the light at the end of a tunnel, and it absolutely would NOT have been possible without your support and this fabulous program. I honestly think it is the most worthwhile thing I’ve seen the NFL do in all of the years he was involved. He summed it up by saying, ‘I think those few days saved a couple of lives in that room.’ I don’t profess to know or understand the small brotherhood of NFL alumni, but you guys did a phenomenal job in reaching out and changing lives. [Former player’s name redacted] I know you spent years as an NFL great, but perhaps this is your best work, the thing for which you should be most proud. [Former player’s name redacted] thank you for that initial phone call and email — you made a difference in our lives. As a wife, I thank you for doing something I couldn’t. Please express to whomever the powers that be what great importance this program bears. It is an integral part of the transitioning process and if you ever have a board for families or wives involvement, count me in — this is the best thing the NFL has put money towards in years. THANK YOU and I hope to meet you two in person one day. Until then…” That is a truly amazing story. Shout out to those players who took the time to help this brother get his life together. There is no telling how his survival will impact the lives of his friends and family. The NFL runs what it calls ambassador and transition programs, but it is the latter program that is extremely interesting. It consists of recently retired players who go through extensive training and actually become certified to help in the areas of mental and behavioral health. The program is run by former NFL player Troy Vincent, who said one of the main goals is to give “a sense of hope” to players having difficulty both in the game and once retired. “We want to support both active and retired players,” said Vincent, who’s currently a league vice president. To the victor go the spoils The Miami Heat Visit The White House Via Huffington Post President Barack Obama honored the Miami Heat for winning the 2012 NBA Championship title after falling short just a year before. “Everybody doing their part, is what finally put the Heat over the top,” Obama said, as he welcomed the team to the White House Monday to celebrate their victory. The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the NBA Finals last June. The president also recognized the franchise’s work off the court. He thanked them for supporting military service members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Obama said one of the things he’s proudest of is that many of the team members_ including LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade_ “take their roles as fathers seriously.” “For all the young men out there who are looking up to them over time, for them to see somebody who cares about their kids and is there for them, day in, day out, that’s a good message to send,” Obama said. Said ‘Bron ‘Bron about his first championship trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave: “We’re in the White House right now, which is like, like `mama I made it,’” James said, as the audience laughed and cheered. Indeed Lebron, you and your raggedy hair line FINALLY made it to the White House. Congratualtions. Hit the flipper to see the rest of the pics from the Heat’s big day. Image via AP/Instagram
