Still, when I sat down with him and Jake Gyllenhaal for their new film Spider-Man Far From Home he wasn’t with my games at first although he eventually came around and gave us a couple of “Spoilers Without Context.” In Spider-Man Far From Home we get to see Nick Fury attempt to bring Peter Parker from a neighborhood friendly Spider-Man to essentially the next Iron Man. A big deal considering that Peter just wants to go on his school trip and tell the girl he loves that he loves her like a fat kid love cake. Sam admits that when people see this movie that will likely say they didn’t know Nick Fury was such a grumpy old man, “I never knew Nick Fury was such a grumpy old man. Grow up, Kid! ‘We need you.’ Tony Starks told me this kid was the goods I get there, dude’s ghosting me. I’m talking to him and he’s talking to me about hanging out with his friends on this trip. Reportedly, while out in Sweden, a man who clearly never received the memo was privy to a beatdown courtesy of Pretty Flacko and his crew. Yes, there is video of the incident. But first, TMZ has the play by play to what happened: TMZ obtained video that starts with the rapper having an intense convo with a couple of guys at Max restaurant in Stockholm Sunday night … allegedly over Rocky breaking a pair of their headphones earlier. Our sources say the 2 young men kept following AR and threatened to call the cops over the headphones. We’re told someone stepped in to translate the argument between the 2 parties, and Rocky delivered this message — stop following us … or else. Apparently, that’s when another woman interrupted the convo, and accused one of the 2 men of grabbing her ass earlier. Witnesses say that’s when A$AP and his crew decided to throw down. The video shows Rocky — in a white hoodie and green shorts — absolutely toss one of the guys like a ragdoll. You can also hear someone smash a bottle during the fight. Three other men, apparently on Rocky’s side — jumped in and joined the beatdown, punching and kicking the guy. Team A$AP quickly broke out before the authorities arrived. There is pressure to wear ones’ hair straight, which is often deemed “presentable” in the work. Whether it’s navigating how to wear your hair for an interview or changing your hair into box braids for summer only not to be recognized by your co-workers, natural hair in the workplace is unnecessarily stressful. Well, now, California is helping you deal with that. California lawmakers have passed The CROWN Act, a bill to protect Black employees and students by outlawing discrimination against people with natural hairstyles like afros, dreadlocks, braids, and twists. The bill states, “The history of our nation is riddled with laws and societal norms that equated ‘blackness’ and the associated physical traits, for example, dark skin, kinky and curly hair to a badge of inferiority.” The bill shines light (and protection) on the fact that European aesthetics have been the standard for beauty and have unfairly targeted Black workers and students more than any other group. The CROWN Act stands for ‘Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair. While there were no “no” votes, Sen. Holly Mitchell, D-Los Angeles told NPR , “I have no idea why they abstained.” There were 10 politicians that chose not to vote on the bill including Frank Bigelow, Joe Cervantes, Steve Cooley, Duke Cunningham, James Gallagher, Tom Lackey, Monique Limon, Evan Low, Kevin McCarty and Melissa Melendez. While it wasn’t important to them, it was important to Mitchell, who told NPR, “The sheer volume of women and men and parents of students who have been sent home because someone deems their braids, twists, or locs were inappropriate for workplace settings, the sheer volume of people, suggests this clearly is a law whose time has come.” Dove was criticized in 2017 for a body lotion ad featuring a Black woman who took off her shirt to become a white woman, has supported this bill. The brand has also been working diligently for more representation, partnering with Getty Images and more. New York and New Jersey has proposed similar legislation. In February, NYC enacted its own policy protecting afros, braids, fades and other black hairstyles. We hope more states take a look at the CROWN Act and start to enact their own legislation. According to The Courier-Journal , Tyrese Garvin was taken off life support at University of Louisville Hospital, the same place his twins were born just two weeks earlier. Garvin was shot while walking in the streets of Smoketown, Kentucky. He had just finished visiting his newborns, who were born prematurely, when he was shot by three teenagers, according to community activist Christopher 2x. When family members decided to take him off, the mother brought the newborn twins from the maternity ward to Garvin’s bedside for his final breaths. “He was just a random choice that these teenagers chose to shoot,” 2X told The Courier-Journal . “This kid was loving life, and there’s no reason for him to be shot like that.” The Louisville Metro Police have arrested three male teens between the ages of 14 and 17, who allegedly shot Garvin. “Tyrese was taken from us way too soon, as he was a victim of the ongoing gun and gang violence surrounding the Louisville area,” Garvin’s family wrote on a GoFundMe page they started to help raise funeral costs and medical bills. “May god bless this beautiful soul,” his family concluded in their loving tribute. “We love you Tyrese.” Balling for a Cause , a group started to help get at-risk kids off the streets, is also collecting baby items and clothes to help the mother of Garvin’s newborn babies. Items can be sent or dropped off at the Chestnut Street Family YMCA.
