That’s all fine and dandy if that’s how she wants to live, just long as she keeps it to herself and her circle of sunken place citizens. The problem with Candace’s beliefs this weekend was the fact that she brought herself to Diddy’s Revolt Music Conference in Atlanta along with all of her MAGA propaganda. To make things even spicier, whoever booked Owens for the event decided to put her on a panel with T.I. and Killer Mike , two of the most outspoken rappers and activists in the game. Now you already know that neither one of them were going to let her get up there and lie or not have her facts together. When the topic of Trump being racist came up, she tried to defend him with every drop of MAGA blood that runs through her body. Candace repeatedly asked when Trump directly said remarks that seem racist or put down black people–which is when ATL commander in chief T.I. tore her azz a new one. When the rest of the speakers on the panel told Owens that “Make America Great Again” was a slight at black people, she mentioned Ronald Reagan using the slogan and asked was it racist back then (News flash: it was). That’s when TIP interrupted her to ask “When you say ‘Make America Great Again,’ which period of America are we talking about?” And the rest, well, you just need to watch yourself because words alone can’t properly describe the dragging. Source: Leon Bennett / Getty Kurupt Relapses While Filming “Marriage Bootcamp” Ends Up Hospitalized Kurupt has long been in a battle with alcoholism and trying to overcome that demon. Recently, he was doing better and walking a straight line, even getting cast for the upcoming season of WE tv’s Marriage Bootcamp with his estranged wife, Jovan “Tookie” Brown. Apparently, the producers paid no attention to the details of his life or struggles whatsoever, and things in the house didn’t end up going as planned. According to reports from TMZ , the production and show team had the Bootcamp house stocked with every alcoholic drink imaginable. That’s when sources report the house was having a nightly turn up and Kurupt said screw it and decided to join in. While everyone else was drinking in moderation, Kurupt downed everything he could. That’s when things when downhill, according to reports. Sources close to production tell TMZ … Kurupt turned up with the rest of the cast inside the ‘MBC’ house, and the rapper drank so much he ended up needing medical treatment. We’re told Kurupt missed 2 days of filming while he was hospitalized from his boozy night. With money on the line and product deadlines approaching, as the house is rented and crew has to be paid, the higher-ups involved on the show decided to remove all alcohol from the house and the show altogether. This is sure to have some sort of impact on the vibe between the stars in the house, but it’s clearly for the best. Just imagine trying to save your marriage and being forced to talk about uncomfortable situations every day while not being able to have one drink to let off some steam. Probably sounds like for some couples, but not the same hell as someone who’s battling alcoholism . Just last year, his wife expressed disappointment with Kurupt during their super messy public feud and rumored divorce. We wish Kurupt the best and are glad to see he’s out the hospital and back on the job to get his wifey back!
Source: OGUT/Star Max / Getty Despite Rumors, Tinashe Is Not Signed To Roc Nation Those rumors that Tinashe is signed to Roc Nation are getting squashed just as quickly as they made headlines. TMZ caught up with the singer as was leaving Craig’s in West Hollywood Thursday night, which is when they asked if it’s true she’s joining Jay-Z’s legendary label. Unfortunately for those hoping for a deal, she tells paparazzi that she’s an independent artist and still hasn’t signed anything. As the publication points out, Tinashe’s wording is very interesting here, because she seems to hint that there is an offer out for her–but she’s just not signing any deals until she puts out some music on her own first. Interesting. Even though the notion of a big signing bonus couldn’t sway her right now, the roster of artists on a label like Roc Nation sure does sweeten the deal. Tinashe makes it clear she’d be excited to work with the company that boasts artists like Rihanna sometime in the future. Maybe we’ll see a partnership between Roc Nation and Tinashe someday down the line, but for now, we’re getting a healthy helping of independent Nashe. We’re here for it.
When news of the college admissions bribery scandal first went public in March, two actresses quickly emerged as the most prominent figures ensnared in the FBI’s “Varsity Blues” sting operation. Now, one of them has been sentenced to prison for attempting to buy her daughter’s way into the school of her choice. Five months after Felicity Huffman pled guilty to paying out $15,000 in bribes to rig the SATs in her child’s favor, the actress — best known for her role in the ABC drama Desperate Housewives — has been sentenced to 14 days behind bars. Huffman spoke in her own defense at her sentence hearing this afternoon, echoing her attorney’s claims that she did not realize anyone would be harmed by her actions. “I am deeply sorry to the students, parents, colleges and universities impacted by my actions.” she told the judge. “I have inflicted more damage (on her daughter) than I could’ve ever imagined,” Huffman continued. “I was frightened, I was stupid and I was so wrong. I am deeply ashamed of what I have done.” In addition to her jail time, the 56-year-old received a $30,000 fine, 250 hours of community, and one year of supervised release. Huffman was joined in court by her husband, actor William H. Macy. The couple bee-lined to waiting SUVs after leaving the courtroom and did not speak with members of the press. Huffman will start her prison sentence on a yet-to-be-determined date in the near future. While Huffman got off with a slap on the wrist (Prosecutors originally wanted her to serve four months in prison, but reduced their recommendation to one month following a favorable parole report.), her status as a convicted felon will follow her for the rest of her life. This means that she will never be able to own a firearm (probably not a matter of great concern to the actress), and will not be allowed to vote until she’s completed her probation. In the wake of the news about Huffman’s sentencing, many thoughts turned to her alleged co-conspirator Lori Loughlin. The Full House actress is the other famous face associated with the scandal, and she’s in a much tougher position than Huffman. Loughlin turned down the plea deal that Huffman accepted — this, despite facing far more severe charges. (While Huffman pled guilty to shelling out $15,000 in bribes, Loughlin stands accused of doling out $500,000 to help secure admission to USC for both of her daughters.) Strangely, Huffman’s sentence might translate to good news for Loughlin, as it’s considered a major defeat for prosecutors, who might now be inclined to offer the actress a second plea deal. Hopefully, this time, she’ll be smart enough to take it. We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
Source: WENN.com / WENN The blatant privilege of it all. Actress Felicity Huffman , who was one of the biggest names caught up in the college admissions scandal, just received her punishment for trying to bribe her kid’s way into college. Her sentence? 14 days in prison. According to NBC News , Huffman was sentenced on Friday. Joined by her actor husband, William H. Macy , Huffman was also sentenced to a fine of $30,000 and 250 hours of community service. “I am deeply sorry to the students, schools, and universities, that are impacted by my actions,” Huffman said, while choking up. “I take full responsibility for my actions and as a first step for making amends for my crime. I will accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate.” U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani, who handed down the sentence, said the scandal demonstrated a major imbalance in America in which rich parents are able to give their kids more advantages. She said she didn’t relish sending Huffman to prison, but she believed it was the right decision. “I don’t think anyone wants to be going to prison, I do think this is the right sentence here,” said Talwani. “You move forward and you can rebuild your life after this. You pay your dues.” Yet there are tons of Black people in prison for minor non-violent offenses serving way more time than 14 days. Of course, much of Twitter wasn’t happy with Huffman’s sentencing. Huffman pleaded guilty to mail fraud and honest services fraud for dishing out $15,000 to college fixer Rick Singer to cheat on daughter Sophia Grace Macy’s SAT test back in 2017. Yet, she somehow evaded a prison system in which the less wealthy and less White folks aren’t so lucky. Ironically, probation officials initially said the government was at fault for setting Huffman’s sentencing range at four to nine months because the amount of money she paid should not be a factor in how she’s sentenced. They said Huffman should be subject to the lowest sentencing guidelines of zero prison time to six months. It looks like they got what they wanted. “The mere fact that prosecutors asked for such little prison time showed that Huffman appeared to be in good position to avoid time behind bars,” said NBC legal analyst Danny Cevallos. “Federal courts are under obligation to avoid ‘unwarranted sentencing disparities.’ A sentence of incarceration for Felicity Huffman sure seems like an unwarranted sentencing disparity.” So basically, there are people who think her sentencing is actually too severe. Again, folks on Twitter had thoughts. Watch whiteness work https://t.co/YAiIxqoVnQ — Black Aziz aNANsi (@Freeyourmindkid) September 13, 2019 Let's be real. Source: Brian To/WENN.com / WENN Girlfriends is back! According to Entertainment Weekly , the hit sitcom went off the air eleven years ago and now the cast is reuniting for an episode of Black-ish . The whole squad is back including Golden Brooks, Persia White, Jill Marie Jones and of course Tracee Ellis Ross who also stars on Black-ish. “The timing was perfect to be able to bring Girlfriends to a whole new audience. We haven’t all been together on camera since 2006,” Ross told EW . “ Girlfriends ran for eight years and was important to so many people. Being able to merge the worlds of black-ish and Girlfriends was surreal for me — and so much fun. These are women I grew up with and love deeply and it was easy to tap back into the magic of our chemistry and how much we love each other. It was giggles on top of giggles on top of giggles.” Surprise!!! My giiiiifriends are guest starring on an episode of @blackishabc this season! #blackish @RealPersiaWhite @therealgolden47 @MsJillMJones https://t.co/Capmlsc9SC pic.twitter.com/4J4Y3iASlC — Tracee Ellis Ross (@TraceeEllisRoss) September 12, 2019 The reunion will air on October 8 in a Black-ish episode called “Feminisn’t,” in which Bow (Ross) learns that Diane ( Marsai Martin ) and Ruby ( Jenifer Lewis ) don’t believe in feminism. Yup, this will be great. Meanwhile, another blast from the past is coming back to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim with the return of Black Jesus. The show, created by Aaron McGruder , has been off the air for four years and now the show will make a comeback with its third season. Unfortunately, the show will be returning without co-star Charlie Murphy who passed away in April 2017. Co-star Corey Holcomb told Comedy Hype in an interview, “It’s gonna be weird without Charlie Murphy on set. We’re gonna get this thing going without him, and I’m sure we’re still gonna make the show good, but it will be different not seeing him on set.” You can check out the trailer for season three of Black Jesus below and be sure to check it out when it premieres September 20.
Notorious bigot Derick Dillard’s transphobia is so intense that it tanked his reality career. Some of his fans hope that he might express some degree of regret — or maybe even apologize — for verbally attacking a teenage girl. Instead, Derick says that people should just “get over it already.” Ugh. “QUESTION: What do you consider to be the most pressing civil rights questions?” Derick asked his followers on Twitter. It’s not the right question to ask, since no single issue can be tackled alone. Civil rights work has to be intersectional or it does little good. “Thank you!” Derick replied to a no-longer-available tweet. “There’s no right answer; I’m just interested in what people feel are the biggest issues.” “I agree with you,” he then affirmed to his follower. “That we should always treat everyone with dignity and fairness.” “Great!” replies another tweet, who then asks Derick: “So you can now apologize to @JazzJennings, right?” Instead of ignoring the tweet or replying “hey, that’s a good idea,” he instead doubled down on his general awfulness. “Oh get over it already,” Derick demanded. He wrote: “Any comments were directed @TLC and the parents.” “I love @JazzJennings,” he claimed, all evidence to the contrary. Then, in a sentence that would be random if you didn’t know how his twisted mind works, he concluded: “We have got to protect children!” See, Derick Dillard thinks that Jazz Jennings’ parents are “abusing” her by accepting and affirming who she is. While it’s absurd and insulting for anyone to claim that, it’s almost comical coming from someone who married into the Duggar family. Even before Josh’s molestation scandal was uncovered, the Duggars were notorious for their monstrously abusive parenting practices. In the mean time, Jazz’s parents simply let her be herself from a young age, giving her love and emotional support. But to Derick’s distorted worldview, a “good” parent would force their child to live out a lie that matches whatever was scribbled on their birth certificate. In August of 2017, totally out of the blue, Derick took to Twitter to rail against TLC for the show, I Am Jazz . I Am Jazz has followed Jazz Jennings for years as she experiences her teenage years. Jazz is very fortunate in that her family has been supportive of her gender since she was very young. She’s always know that she is a girl. She was also able to undergo bottom surgery — the term for genital alteration, sometimes known as gender confirmation surgery. Not all trans folks experience enough dysphoria to get bottom surgery (or have the money to afford it if they wanted to), but Jazz underwent that in 2018. TLC’s cameras followed Jazz through that part of her journey — and that’s part of why Derick thinks that the show is “bad.” Even though trans folks have existed across numerous cultures for thousands of years, Derick thinks that hiding their existence from kids will magically stop kids from being trans. That’s not a surprising point of view — his ilk have been saying the same about gay and bi people for generations. It’s not true for htem, either. What really happens when you raise your kids in a bubble where they don’t know about LGBTQ+ folks is that kids who are think something’s wrong with them. Some will go into denial. Others will live with their secret for decades, feeling misplaced shame over who they are. Either Derick would prefer that minorities remain silent, invisible, and miserable … or he really thinks that they just hear of trans people existing and go “oh, I’ll try that for fun.” So no, Derick, people are not going to “get over” your clownish transphobia. It got you fired and it got you hated, and you deserve both. View Slideshow: Jazz Jennings Dismisses Derick Dillard: Who Cares What He Says?!?
Source: @JustInMyView / R1 Digital There was never any doubt that Tekashi 6ix9ine would be singing like a bird once the Feds got their hands on him. Considering how tattletales are treated in crime circles ( his own family sees the jig ), the Brooklyn rapper is being housed with other snitches for his safety. In fact, Tekashi is probably doing better than most inmates. Reports TMZ : Fact is … the feds believe Tekashi is already safe and secure in the facility he’s called home for nearly a year. The joint houses other snitches, all of whom have the same problem … certain people want to kill many of them and are willing to pay a hefty price to get the job done. The facility has a unit where a bunch of the snitches live. They spend all of their time with each other … no other inmates allowed. They have a common area where tables are set up for meals. It’s strictly a catering-in unit. Food carts come and go all day. They have exercise equipments and a TV in the common area and they sleep in a dormitory setting. Tekashi is facing 47 years in the bing if convicted of his crimes. However, prosecutors recently detailed how he will be basically pointing the finger at everyone in his crew, as well as admitting to his own crimes. The result is he’ll do significantly less time, while his rap career is basically a wrap. He may want to lose the face tattoos sooner than later, too.
