Michael Douglas: I’m Married!

Michael Douglas is still sporting his wedding ring, and it’s not just symbolic, he says. He wants everyone to know he is still married to Catherine Zeta-Jones. The star responded to recent reports about his separation from Zeta-Jones by saying “there is no crisis” and they “are fine” despite a “temporary separation.” Michael Douglas: Marriage Not in Crisis Douglas was in Berlin for the premiere of his movie Behind the Candelabra, when a reporter asked him why he was still wearing a ring on his wedding finger. His simple response? “I’m married.” Just last week, the couple’s reps said they were separating after 13 years. Conflicting reports aside, it looks like Douglas isn’t ready to throw in the towel. It’s not clear why the duo, who are parents of two children, decided to separate, but rumors have centered around the couple’s dueling health problems. Douglas’ throat cancer – and his claim that he got HPV from oral sex – and Catherine’s struggle with bipolar disorder have made headlines in recent years. Here’s hoping they can work it out!

Slimmy Trimmy! German Woman Wears Waist Whittling Corset For Three Years — Making Her A Mere 16 Inches Around The Middle!

You ain’t bout that life! Some folks will do ANYTHING to reach their goal of getting slimmy trimmy even endure pain, suffering and muscle atrophy! Via NY Daily News reports : Itty-bitty Berliner Michele Kobke, 24, has worn a corset continuously for three years, dropping nine inches off her waistline in her quest for a slim, hourglass figure. Kobke tells the Daily News she started with a waist of about 25 inches. Her three years of wearing a corset, which she wears eating, sleeping and even swimming, has left her with a 16- or 17- inch waist. “My dream waist is 15 inches,” she said. That would represent a world record for an adult, currently held by Connecticut woman Cathie Jung. It’s a practice known a tightlacing, a community of enthusiasts who tightly lace corsets to achieve such drastic body modifications. Kobke keeps a detailed account of her journey on her Facebook page and in YouTube videos, showing off different corsets for friends and fans. She even sews her own pieces and models famous fashion designers’ corset creations. Even as she closes in on her “dream” waist, Kobke admits there are health concerns with such a passion. A doctor already diagnosed her with some muscle atrophy from wearing the fashion piece 24 hours a day. “I can’t imagine to just stop one day,” she said in a segment with RTL, a German television channel. “The corsets have become an important part of my life. I just can’t imagine.” But aside even from the medical risks, Kobke has had a falling out with family members, who disagree with the extreme measures she takes for beauty. “My family’s reaction to my tightlacing regimen is quite negative,” she told the German TV station. “They say that I spoil my body. But I would say that smoking and drinking alcohol are actually much worse for you, so corsets may not be healthy, but also not really unhealthy.” Corsets have even gained traction as a celebrity semi-fad after Jessica Alba revealed earlier this year that she wore such a piece to slim her stomach after having her children. “I wore a double corset day and night for three months,” Alba, 31, told Net-A-Porter’s magazine. “It was sweaty, but worth it. It was brutal; it’s not for everyone.” Yikes. Would you go to such great lengths for an itty bitty waist??? Check out more photos below: Michele Kobke

My name is Caroline, I’m 15 years old and from Germany . I really can’t believe I’m finally able to write my own Bieber experience. My MBE’s happened on March 31 st 2013 in Berlin and April 2 nd 2013 in Hamburg.  I had bought meet & greet tickets for my friend Laura and I for April 2 nd in July 2012. When I found out about the BieberFever contests I knew there was a chance to win for the show in Berlin so I entered. On March 30, the day the winners would get their emails, I was visiting my aunt and cousin. We had just finished dinner as I received an email from BieberFever saying I won! I was screaming and jumping up and down while crying. Finally March 31 was here and I got ready for the concert. My best guy friend was coming with me. We made our way to the meet & greet entrance but everything was a chaos. After we got the instructions, people started screaming and we saw why, “Kenny! Kenny” Then Justin had arrived for the meeting. I felt like I had to throw up, the butterflies in my stomach went absolutely crazy. In no-time we were at the front, about to meet him. We went behind the curtain and there he stood. My idol, 3 years of waiting for this day. The only thing I could say was, “Can I hug you?” but he didn’t reply, so I just basically threw my arms around him even though his left arm was already wrapped around another girl. I looked into the camera, they took the picture and we had to go. Before we went out, Henning stuck out his hand for Justin and said, “Hey Justin” and Justin just shook his hand and was like, “How you doin’?” I was dying on the inside. After we went out, I saw the girls in front of me hugging Kenny and asking for a picture, but Kenny said he couldn’t take pictures right now because he has to watch out. I went up to him and asked for a hug. He’s so cuddly, like a life-size teddybear. Fast-forward to April 1: my parents and I went to Hamburg by car. It took us like 3 hours and when we were there I stalked Facebook and found out that Justin is staying at the Hyatt Hotel, just a few hundred meters from our hotel. We finally reached the hotel at about 7 p.m. I talked to a few girls there who have been there all day and they said they saw Kenny, Dan and Fredo. I went to sleep early and when I woke up, BieberFever had finally uploaded the meet & greet pictures from Berlin. Soon after we checked into the meet & greet line, Laura and I both had our letters to Justin and a pack of Oreos for Fredo, which he unfortunately obviously didn’t get. Suddenly the instructor brought out Dan. I was shaking already. We all got a chance to take a picture with him. He’s so nice and so small! Then it was time to meet Justin! Laura went in first and I was already almost inside so I could watch her and Justin taking the picture until the security pushed me inside too. I walked over to Justin, everything was like happening in a blur. I don’t even really remember. All I know is that I looked at his cheekbones and said, “I love you so much” quietly. Then the picture was taken and I was grabbed by the arm of another security and basically thrown out. I was disappointed and also a little hurt. But the concert was even more perfect. I went to the Diamond Circle and as soon as we entered the arena we looked at each other and screamed. Finally the countdown appeared. During the concert Justin looked at me and Laura at least 6 times and basically sang to us. Last but not least, I want you all to know that nothing is impossible. You can reach anything if you really want it. Meeting Justin were the best two days of my life and I can’t wait to tell my children and grandchildren about those days. Justin was my first love, is my first love and will forever stay my first love. -Caroline (@GermanBiebsGirl) See the rest here: My name is Caroline, I’m 15 years old and from Germany. I really…

REVIEW: ‘Mad Women’? Elisabeth Moss Bares Her Teeth & Body In Jane Campion’s ‘Top Of The Lake’

The disappearance of a pregnant preteen exposes the raw wounds at the heart of an isolated southern New Zealand community in the absorbing and richly atmospheric Top of the Lake . Centered around Elisabeth Moss’  excellent performance as a detective for whom the case uncovers disturbing echoes of her own troubled history, this multistranded crime saga from writer-director Jane Campion  and co-creator Gerard Lee is satisfyingly novelistic in scope and dense in detail. Yet it also boasts something more, a singular and provocative strangeness that lingers like a chill after the questions of who-dun-what have been laid to rest. Prestigious berths in Park City and Berlin will precede a distinguished smallscreen life for the Sundance Channel miniseries, which begins airing March 18. The six-hour, seven-part production (reviewed from a six-episode version prior to its festival bows) should prove an enticing proposition for fans of investigative dramas in the vein of Twin Peaks and The Killing , even though the yarn’s less procedural-oriented nature and primary focus on a rape case provide early clues that Campion and Co. are treading different thematic territory here. But by far the material’s most distinctive element is its setting, a wooded region of stunning natural beauty and surpassing human ugliness that lends a uniquely bleak and bitter tang to this well-worn genre format. Sharing helming duties with Aussie newcomer Garth Davis, Campion has delivered her first work set and shot in her native New Zealand since The Piano  20 years ago. Fittingly, it marks a reunion of sorts with that film’s star, Holly Hunte r, cast here as GJ, an enigmatic, silver-haired guru who has come to the town of Laketop to open a camp for abused and/or abandoned women. Unfortunately, the camp has been built on a piece of land — the ironically named Paradise — that has long been eyed by local drug lord Matt Mitcham (a superb Peter Mullan), who seems to own everyone and everything in town. Mitcham also seems to have fathered half the local population; the youngest of his offspring is 12-year-old Tui (Jacqueline Joe), his daughter by his third (ex-)wife, a Thai immigrant. One frigid morning, Tui is seen wandering into the titular lake, as though in a trance; a subsequent medical examination reveals she’s five months pregnant, though she won’t disclose who the father is. The determined but relatively inexperienced Det. Robin Griffin (Moss) is called in to lead the statutory-rape investigation, although she soon finds herself looking into a possible kidnapping-murder scenario when Tui suddenly goes missing. Over the course of the six-hour running time, the story abounds in the requisite twists and complications: The lake coughs up the body of a local businessman, while suspicion falls on a hermit who turns out to be a convicted sex offender. But these developments are doled out at a measured clip, and the filmmakers seem less interested in sustaining forward momentum than in painting a vivid panorama of this broken community, a town cloaked in a dark and vaguely incestuous malaise. From the hooligans (Jay Ryan, Kip Chapman) who carry out Mitcham’s bidding to the sad-sack women who gather at GJ’s camp, there’s a pervasive sense of human lives either wasted or forced into familiar and depressing patterns. The wildness of the surroundings informs the wildness of the characters: Parents and children are forever at odds, and acts of violence and violation are distressingly commonplace, to the point where even Mitcham reacts to the news of Tui’s ordeal not with outrage, but with a cynical roll of the eye (“She’s a slut, like her dad was a slut!”). Despite its narrative breadth, Top of the Lake  is first and foremost Robin’s story. As the detective rekindles a romance with another Mitcham son (Thomas M. Wright) while flirting erratically with her superior officer (David Wenham), she finds her personal life bumping up against her investigation to a near-ludicrous degree. Much of the third hour is devoted to exploring Robin’s past traumas as a teenager, and while the idea that she sees a younger version of herself in Tui represents perhaps the tale’s most conventional conceit, it supplies a potent emotional fulcrum that pushes the drama into its moving, startling if not always plausible final hours. Moss, a long way from Mad Men , brings a gripping combination of pluck, vulnerability and intense anger to the complicated role of a woman who fights for every inch of ground and at one point drives a broken bottle into a man’s chest. Campion’s films have long gone against the grain with their strong, embattled distaff protagonists and daring portrayals of female sexuality, and if Top of the Lake  isn’t in quite the same neighborhood as In the Cut , it nonetheless calls on Moss and others to bare themselves physically and emotionally in a story located at the juncture of sex and violence. The other commanding turn here comes from Mullan, playing the unkempt Mitcham as a rough-mannered scoundrel who is not without a certain gruff, randy charm. Other bright spots in the excellent ensemble include Robyn Nevin, tough and sensible as Robin’s cancer-stricken mother; Joe, who invests Tui with a fiery refusal to be victimized; and Hunter, making the most of dialogue that basically consists of a string of gnomic pronouncements. Adam Arkapaw’s lensing of this unspoiled and unruly landscape is one of the production’s chief pleasures, and composer Mark Bradshaw supports the action with a melancholy score that sounds entirely endemic to the setting. George Clooney Pays Patron’s Dinner Bill, Remains Awesome

Come on, George Clooney. It’s not enough that you’re talented, handsome and in possession of a great sense of humor?!? You need to be overly generous as well? Can’t you give other bachelors out there a chance?!? According to United Press International, the actor paid for a stranger’s meal this week while dining in a Berlin restaurant because he feared his party had been too loud while the man was trying to eat nearby. “That’s not true at all,” the man said in response to Clooney’s concern. “They had behaved in a very cultivated manner. I was stunned.” Still, the Oscar winner went ahead and footed the stranger’s $134.66 tab. Clooney is in Germany filming scenes for the upcoming film The Monuments Men . By all accounts, he’s still dating Stacy Keibler . But if they split, we have a feeling he won’t have trouble finding a new woman or six dozen.
