Lindsay Lohan Set To Leave Rehab Facility

Actress has been at the Betty Ford Center since September and reportedly has plans for ‘a comeback.’ By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan (file) Photo: Robyn Beck/ Getty Images After her longest sustained stay in a rehab facility, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly set to leave the Betty Ford Center on Monday (January 3). Following months of drama that included a failed drug test and an alleged altercation with a rehab worker , Lohan, 24, will emerge into an uncertain future thanks to her ongoing legal and personal struggles. She’s already lost one of the few parts Hollywood has offered her in recent years, the lead role in the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno,” and given her past, it’s unclear what the onetime double threat singer/actress’ next move could be. Lohan’s fourth stint in rehab came after she voluntarily entered the Ford Center in late September following an admission that she’d failed a court-mandated drug test . It was preceded by a 14-hour trip to jail — the same one she’d exited in August for violating her probation. That was followed by 23 days in court-ordered rehab. In the ensuing months, Lohan was dropped from “Inferno” after director Matthew Wilder said he was unable to obtain insurance for the actress in the wake of her troubles. In December, there was a false report that she might be headed to “Dancing With the Stars,” a development that, if true, would not have been a promising one for an actress who is attempting to make a serious comeback. And, late last month, the woman who accused Lohan of assault at the Ford Center was fired for revealing details about the incident to TMZ; she later agreed to drop charges against the star. With no known movie deals currently inked, Lohan could be facing one of her longest sustained breaks from the big screen since her debut in 1998’s remake of “The Parent Trap.” After a series of flops (“Bobby,” “Georgia Rule,” “I Know Who Killed Me,” “Chapter 27” and the ABC Family movie “Labor Pains”), Lohan’s only significant role of note in the past year is a cameo in “Machete.” The one bright spot in Lohan’s career — despite harsh disses from Kanye West — has been her foray into fashion. E! News reported that Lohan wants to expand her 6126 fashion line to include footwear in addition to leggings. Though the line isn’t likely to debut until later this year, a rep for 6126 told E! that Lohan is very involved in the new project. “She’ll finalize everything when she’s out.” The rep added that the shoes Lohan was mulling over would be “classic, glamorous, timeless with a sexy flair.” Despite a cloudy future, Lohan posted a hopeful message on Twitter on New Year’s Day, writing, “Today is the first day of the rest of my life,” and then quoted spiritual icon Mahatma Ghandi’s message that, “The future depends on what we do in the present.” Her sometimes estranged father, Michael, told CBS News that his daughter is doing “unbelievably” well. “She’s turned this whole situation around to use this to her advantage and she has taken the right steps and put the right people back in her life that she had at the best part of her life to really use it as a springboard,” Lohan said. Though her father is bullish on Lindsay’s release, an addiction specialist told CBS News that the 90-day stay in treatment is the beginning of a long, hard road. “You either change your behavior and your lifestyle, or you’re going to end up institutionalized, crazy or dead,” Howard Samuels said. He recommended that Lohan lie low for a while, though the “Mean Girls” star already seems eager to hit the ground running. She recently posted provocative pictures taken in August 2010, which she said, “are for my comeback,” and a slick new site, LindsayLohan.com features an image of her under a swinging chandelier with a soundtrack provided by La Roux’s “In for the Kill” and the words “coming soon.” Do you think Lindsay can make a comeback? Lindsay Lohan to Remain in Rehab For Now

Maybe her inspiring New Year’s Tweet wasn’t just the usual lip service. Even though Lindsay Lohan is legally free to leave rehab today, she’s sticking around Betty Ford, possibly until next week, to get additional treatment. The troubled star is being cautious before reentering society. Thank goodness. IN TREATMENT : As long as it takes, girl. [Photo: Pacific Coast News] The fast-careening train wreck was ordered back to rehab until January 3 following her probation violating drug test in October. So she is free to go now. However, reports say Lohan is talking with the Betty Ford Center about remaining in the residential day treatment program until at least Saturday . Good for her. If she’s hesitant to leave, maybe she’s finally self-aware enough to make lasting change. What do you think? Will she stay clean?

Lindsay Lohan Accuser Drops Charges

Police say they will look into the incident further. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan Photo: Marsaili McGrath/ Getty Images After speaking out about a December 12 incident with Lindsay Lohan at the Betty Ford rehab facility, Dawn Holland has dropped her charges against the embattled starlet. The former rehab worker released a statement to TMZ noting that she wouldn’t pursue a case against Lohan. “Dawn will not continue to press charges against Lindsay, nor will she be assisting any further in the investigation or prosecution,” her lawyer, Kevin Davidson, said. Davidson continued that “a crime has quite simply not been committed by Ms. Lohan.” Holland is reportedly a recovering addict herself and does not want “in any way, shape or form to do anything that would violate Lindsay’s probation or cause an arrest.” E! News reports that while Holland may not be pursuing charges, the Palm Desert Police Department is keeping an investigation into the incident open. “We are continuing our investigation,” the spokeswoman said. “We hope to be done sometime in January.” When asked how Holland would respond if subpoenaed by the police department, her lawyer simply responded “she won’t.” Holland was a technician at the Betty Ford Center and was fired shortly after she gave a video interview in which she discussed the alleged altercation. “She was the only patient out of the three who was being very uncooperative and out of control,” Holland said in the video, explaining that Lohan had been acting defiant at the rehab center. “I did not touch the woman! I am not willing to risk my job over any patient.” Related Videos Lindsay Lohan: Crime And Punishment Related Photos Lindsay Lohan Goes To Court The Highs And Lows Of Lindsay Lohan Related Artists Lindsay Lohan
