Source: Terry Vine/Getty Images / Getty Alabama Girl Commits Suicide After Being Bullied The family of a fourth-grade student who committed suicide is reeling. CBS 42 reports that the mother of 9-year-old McKenzie Adams says bullying led her daughter to kill herself. McKenzie’s mom says her daughter complained to school officials numerous times about being bullied but little was done to stop it. On December 3, McKenzie’s grandma found her hanging in her home. “She told me that this one particular child was writing her nasty notes in class. It was just things you wouldn’t think a 9-year-old should know. And my baby to tell me some of the things they had said to her. I was like where are they learning this from” Adams said. “I just felt that our trust was in them that they would do the right thing. And it feels like to me it wasn’t it wasn’t done”. She also believes that race might have played a factor in her late daughter’s death. A white family friend drove McKenzie to school and she used to get picked on about it. “She was being bullied the entire school year, with words such as ‘kill yourself,’ ‘you think you’re white because you ride with that white boy,’ ‘you ugly,’ ‘black b***,’ ‘just die,’” McKenzie’s mom told The Tuscaloosa News. Funeral services for McKenzie Adams will be held next Saturday at Alabama’s U.S. Jones elementary school.
