It’s Only Right: Travis Scott Gets Honored In Houston With “Astroworld Day”

Source: Gary Miller / Getty Travis Scott Gets His Own Day In His Hometown Of Houston All of Travis Scott’s efforts for his hometown have been appreciated, and now he’s getting some love back from the city that raised him. The city of Houston, Texas has named November 18 “Astroworld Day” in honor of the rapper. Named after his highly-anticipated album  Astroworld , the city’s Mayor Sylvester Turner announced the honor following Scott’s inaugural Astroworld Festival, which brought 40,000 of Scott’s fans to Houston. Travis accepted the proclamation recognizing him as an ambassador for the arts, education, and youth initiatives at Houston’s city hall. During his acceptance speech, Scott said that the inspiration behind the festival and LP was Six Flag’s now-closed Astroworld in Houston. He said in his acceptance speech, “I grew up here my whole life. I was inspired by Astroworld. In ’05 when they took it away, it kind of like took a big piece of my heart away. I didn’t have anywhere to go. I just wanted to kind of bring back that feeling and give this city something so they can always have something fun to do.”   Congrats to Travis on being honored by Houston in such a big way!

Four Dead, Several Others Injured As Gunman Opens Fire On Chicago Hospital, Killing His Ex-Fiancé Dr. Tasha O’Neal

An active shooter went on a rampage inside a Chicago hospital on Monday evening, ultimately killing four and injuring an undetermined amount of others. According to ABC 7 , three people were murdered in the shooting, including the ER doctor that had previously been engaged to the shooter, a Chicago police officer, and a pharmaceutical worker at Mercy Hospital on the South Side of Chicago. The shooter was also killed by police gunfire. The gunman has been identified as 32-year-old Juan Lopez. His shooting spree began in the hospital’s parking lot, as he confronted Dr. Tamara O’Neal, the woman he had been engaged to that broke things off with him last September. There is no word on why the shooter entered the hospital and opened fire after killing his ex outside, but we will continue to monitor this story for further information. Also among those killed was officer Samuel Jiminez and 25-year-old pharmaceutical resident Dayna Less, who was also engaged and planning to travel back to her home of Indiana tomorrow for the Thanksgiving holiday. Kendrick Johnson: Third Autopsy Claims Foul Play In Gym Mat Death Of Georgia Teen

Source: D-Keine / Getty Kendrick Johnson’s Parents’ Conduct Third Autopsy, Find Foul Play The parents of a Georgia teen who was found dead in a wrestling mat have conducted a third autopsy. The AJC reports that Kendrick Johnson’s parents Kenneth and Jackie Johnson paid for an autopsy that found that the teen died nearly six years ago from non-accidental blunt force trauma between his neck and abdomen. The results match the first autopsy done on Kendrick, also paid for by his family. The AJC adds that the results will make “minimal impact” considering that a federal investigation ruled out foul play As previously reported the state medical examiner’s office said Kendrick’s 2013 cause of death was “positional asphyxia,” after he accidentally became rolled in a gym mat while allegedly trying to retrieve a pair of sneakers. His death was ruled an accident and in 2016 the Justice Department concluded there was “insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that someone or some group of people willfully violated Kendrick Johnson’s civil rights or committed any other prosecutable federal crime.” His parents believe that two sons of a local FBI agent; Brian, and Branden Bell murdered their son. The parents previously filed a whopping $100 million lawsuit against 38 people they believed were involved.   A judge accused the Johnsons of fabricating evidence to support their claims and they were ordered to pay attorney’s fees to multiple defendants. SMH…this is all so sad. All these years and still no answers for this family.

Legendary producer and Kim’s childhood friend, Dallas Austin , had to have the most touching message thus far.  He posted a prom pic of he and KP from back in the day, writing: “This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to do…my mom and Kim’s mom was pregnant with us at the same time in Columbus …I have never known a life without Kim porter from kindergarten through all of our life long experiences in high school, having matching bmws or her being the biggest believer in me making it as a producer and us getting out of Columbus to be somebody ..and we made it!! we were inseparable I feel like a part of my soul has has been taken away.” Most people didn’t know that Kim and Dallas go back that far, let alone that “Drumline” starring Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana was based on their relationship. Dallas continued, “Most people don’t know that Zoe Saldana played the role of Kim in “drumline” as nick cannon played my character ..we saw purple rain 15times in the theater and if you knew her you knew a strong beautiful smiling gangster angel ! I know GOD is perfect but sometimes even perfect can make a mistake”   He ended the emotional message sending love to Diddy and the rest of the Combs/Porter family. Kim Porter will be greatly missed.

Another day, another viral mugshot… Charles Dion McDowell Reacts To His Mugshot Going Viral The man whose peculiar mugshot went viral this week is free. In case you’re unaware, Charles Dion McDowell was highlighted on Florida’s  Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for their weekly “Wheel of Fugitives” post and the reactions were brutal. While the Sheriff’s Office was seriously asking social media followers to track down their latest fugitive, people couldn’t stop trolling McDowell’s thick-throated mugshot with comments like;  “A ll this neckativity isn’t right at all,” “ His neck is still at LARGE!!!” and “Da t boy can drink peanut butter.” Charles, who was charged with possession of meth and cocaine and arrested for possession of drug equipment and fleeing police, is now free and responding to the vicious internet slander. “Free man, shout out to ever female that gave me a chance,” said Charles in a video of him leaving jail. “F*** them n***s, I ain’t never worried about n****s. This is the first time I’ve ever commented on something—there was just so many [comments].” His statement isn’t helping, however, the post on the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office page has garnered 294,000 comments and over 260,000 shares. Now, according to a report from E! News, the L.A. County coroner has called for an “additional investigation” into the death of the beloved mom , model, and actress. From E! : “One day after the model, actress and longtime girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combswas discovered dead at the age of 47, E! News has learned her cause of death is currently “deferred” for further testing. As previously reported, Porter was said to be receiving medical treatment for pneumonia prior to her passing. First responders were called to her Toluca Lake, Calif. home on Thursday over a potential cardiac arrest episode. Detectives also told the media they do not suspect foul play.” Porter shared three kids with music mogul Diddy — Christian and twins, D’Lila Star and Jessie James —as well as Quincy , her eldest son from a previous relationship with Al B.
