MegaYawn: Shawnna Fires Desperate Shots At Nicki Minaj, Gets Chun-Li Kicked Back To 2006

Nicki Minaj Another day, another Nicki-related “beef” that popped off when once promising rapper Shawnna fired thinly veiled shots at the polarizing rapper over her comments about female rappers (basically that she’s the best of them all) on the Joe Budden Podcast. Now, we’re not completely sure where Shawnna has been for the past decade or why she took offense to Nicki’s personal opinion but she responded in a spicy IG Live without actually saying her name. Yea, it’s all very, very random (with a splash of ‘huh?’) and sparked hilarious chaos across social media. Can’t Nobody Tell Him Nothiiin: Lil Nas X Reveals What Made Him Come Out As Gay, Covers TIME Magazine In Gitty Up Gear

Source: Rich Fury / Getty Lil Nas X Covers TIME Magazine To say that the Summer belonged to Lil Nas X is an understatement. At just 20 years old, the Georgia rapper went from a unknown Twitter troll, to an extremely well known troll, whose song “Old Town Road” dethroned Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men as the longest-running No. 1 song in history. Now you can’t go anywhere without seeing his face, or hearing that song and it’s many remixes. View this post on Instagram When @lilnasx's debut single “Old Town Road” exploded online early this year and began climbing the charts, industry prognosticators anticipated a quick rise and fall. It’s now the longest-running No. 1 song in history, having occupied the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks. It’s been streamed more than a billion times on @spotify alone. All of this has made “Old Town Road” the defining sound of the year, a slurry, genre-busting interpolation of two quintessential American musical genres: #country and hip-hop. Yet even from his perch, writes Andrew R. Chow, Lil Nas is still an outlier. There aren’t many black stars in country #music; there aren’t many queer stars in #hiphop. There aren’t many queer black stars in American culture, point-blank. The fact that Lil Nas has risen so far and so fast testifies not only to his skill, but also to the erosion of the systems that for generations kept #artists like him on the sidelines. At a time when debates about categorization and identity are ubiquitous, Lil Nas X represents a more unified vision of the future, one in which a young #queer black man can dominate popular #culture by being unapologetically himself. “Everything lined up for this moment to take me to this place,” he says now. “Not to sound self-centered, but it feels like I’m chosen, in a way, to do this stuff.” Read more at the link in bio. In June, I’m seeing Pride flags everywhere and seeing couples holding hands — little stuff like that.” View this post on Instagram When @lilnasx recorded “Old Town Road” last fall, he was hoping it could be his way out of an unhappy life. Born Montero Lamar Hill outside #Atlanta in 1999, Lil Nas grew up poor, living with one parent or another—his mother and father split when he was 6. As he spent most of his teenage years alone, he began to live on the Internet and particularly Twitter, creating #memes that showed his disarming wit and pop-culture savvy. “It was like, I’m able to go viral, but I’m not promoting anything that’s gonna help me,” he says. “Until music came along.” A gifted vocalist since he was a child—his father is a gospel singer—Lil Nas began writing and recording songs in his closet. When, around last Halloween, he stumbled across a banjo-driven beat by the teenage Dutch producer @youngkio, he saw an opportunity to combine trap—a Southern-born #hiphop subgenre propelled by vicious bass and crawling tempos—with #country, which was experiencing a surge of popularity on the Internet. “Because it’s two polar opposites coming together, it’s funny no matter what it is,” he says. For the history of #music, artists like Lil Nas were the exception, writes Andrew R. Chow. Now, by definition, Lil Nas is the rule. Read more at the link in bio. Video by @khomariflashfilms and @alexandra_robson for TIME A post shared by TIME (@time) on Aug 15, 2019 at 8:48am PDT The young artist added that he was taught from a young age that homosexuality “is never going to be OK,” plus, he feared he might lose fans if he shared his truth. But quite the contrary, Lil Nas. His popularity has skyrocketed over the last few month, which is proof that authenticity ultimately wins. Apparently there’s a lot more we didn’t know about the country rap crooner. Check out Lil Nas X’s full interview here .

Reasonable Doubt: Jay-Z Sus-ly Says He Spoke To Kaepernick Before Signing NFL Deal — But Colin’s Camp Claims THIS

Source: Shareif Ziyadat / Michael Zagaris/San Francisco 49ers/ / Getty Colin Kaepernick’s Camp Denies Speaking With Jay-Z Before New NFL Deal We’ve known Jay-Z to be many things over the years, but is a liar one of them? According to Colin Kaepernick ‘s camp, that may be the case. After news broke on Wednesday that Hov signed a new partnership with the NFL , folks automatically assumed that the rap mogul was undercutting Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling protest. However, Jay discredited the claims during a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at Roc Nation’s NYC offices, saying: “There’s two parts of protest: the protest, and then there’s a company or individual saying ‘I hear you, what do we do next?’ For me it’s about actionable items, what are we gonna do about it?” Both Jay and Goodell also claimed to have spoken to Kap before inking the deal to help the NFL with entertainment and social justice issues. But according to Kaepernick’s attorney, Mark Geragos, the rap mogul did not talk to the former NFL prior to signing the deal. Even Kapernick’s girlfriend Nessa spoke out about the claims, adding that Jay “NEVER included him in the discussion”. THIS is a lie. COLIN never spoke to Jay-Z and NFL ahead of that deal being done. They NEVER included him in any discussion https://t.co/TWmoXS4JVJ pic.twitter.com/2bjSIEtnjQ — NESSA (@nessnitty) August 14, 2019 And what does Hov have to say about the backlash? TMZ reports: “Jay-Z’s camp tells us that he he has absolutely spoken to Kap within the last 48 hours, however … that was NOT before Jay agreed to his new partnership with the NFL. It’s unclear what they discussed, but we’re told this was not a case of Jay checking in with Colin for approval. It couldn’t have been … the deal was already signed. To be clear … we’re told the question posed to Jay during the media event was simply whether he had spoken to Colin — NOT whether he had talked to Colin about the partnership.” Chiiiiillle. Who do you believe?

Ex-NFL Baller Shawne Merriman Hit With Wrongful Death Suit By Parents Of Dead Playboy Employee

Source: Emma McIntyre / Getty Shawne Merriman Sued For Wrongful Death Of Playboy Employee The parents of Kimberly Fattorini believe that former NFL player Shawne Merriman spike their daughter’s drink which ultimately resulted in her death. According to NYDailyNews , Fattorini’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Merriman last week. Kimberly died at a friend’s LA apartment in July 2017 after taking what the coroner says was a lethal combination of alcohol, cocaine, and the date rape drug called GHB. “I realize the (parents) must be suffering greatly, but (I) do not have any idea why they are defaming me by making false accusations in the press and in public pleadings and causing me economic harm,” Merriman wrote in a statement filed Tuesday in his related bankruptcy case. “I realize the (parents) must be suffering greatly, but (I) do not have any idea why they are defaming me by making false accusations in the press and in public pleadings and causing me economic harm,” Merriman wrote in a statement filed Tuesday in his related bankruptcy case. “Until the tragic death of Kimberly Fattorini made the newspaper, I was a sports commentator on a variety of television shows. I was also a motivational speaker, especially addressing the topic of overcoming adversity,” he said in the new statement. Merriman looks EXTRA funny in the light because he filed for bankruptcy late last year and now it kinda looks like he did it to keep ol’ girl’s parents from doing just this. Merriman told a judge that this was NOT the case, but still…

Spitting & Yelling: Sebastian Telfair Becomes Completely UNHINGED As He’s Sentenced To 3.5 Years Over Gun Charges

Source: Star Tribune via Getty Images / Getty Sebastian Telfair Sentencing Turns Into A Scene Sebastian Telfair is heading to prison over the gun charges he racked up in the summer of 2017 and he’s not taking it gracefully at all. On Monday, Telfair was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison and a complete meltdown over the sentencing ensued. The father began crying, foaming at the mouth while screaming in defense of himself. According to Daily Mail, he yelled: ‘Please don’t take me from society right now,’ Telfair told the court. ‘I am 34. I can go play in China for six years and take care of my family. I’m waiting for my daughter right now to get her period. Real mental illness because I wasn’t around… She hasn’t even gotten her period yet.’ The ex-NBA star was accused by officers of possessing three loaded handguns, a submachine gun, extended magazines, ammunition, and a ballistic vest. The officers also claimed to have smelled the scent of marijuana coming from his vehicle and a “roach” or smoked piece of weed was said to be found in the car as well. Telfair denied being in possession of drugs during his outburst. ‘I’m being convicted on perjury. Your honor, I swear he took it out his pocket. Nobody was smoking right there. Nobody was smoking your honor. What my community gonna do? We’ve been doing basketball classes for 15 years. Don’t let them do this to me.” He was completely devastated from the clip. Hit play to see it. Retired #NBA point guard #SebastianTelfair convicted of weapons charges Telfair, the cousin of former All-Star Stephon Marbury, played 10 NBA seasons with nine different teams from 2004 to 2013, including the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder and Toronto Raptors pic.twitter.com/HXOclk0m7I — The Daddy Phantom (@DaddyPhantom) August 13, 2019

Cops Kill People: Protesters Gather At Colorado Springs Police HQ To Demand Justice For De’Von Bailey

Source: Mirrorpix / Getty Colorado Springs Police Kill Teen De’Von Bailey Folks in the Colorado Springs community have gathered to demand justice for 19-year-old De’Von Bailey who was gunned down by police under suspicious circumstances to say the very least. Surveillance footage captures portions of the incident according to a report on CBS Denver . Although the beginning of De’Von’s interaction with police isn’t seen, we can see what appears to officers firing their guns at him while he is running away from them. There is no audio so it isn’t totally clear when the shots were fired. The department’s official stance on the incident is that De’Von was a robbery suspect, which is all well and good, but doesn’t exactly explain why FATAL FORCE was required. Even more quizzical is De’Von’s father’s reaction to his Black son’s death at the hands of a white state agent. “I don’t want to make this about Black Lives Matter or anything, because all of our lives matter. I know everyone says my son was killed by a white cop and he’s a black man in the community. And yes, those are the facts, but that’s not what this is about. This is about what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong. What’s wrong is my son was shot in the back by law enforcement,” he said. Uh, ok. CSPD says the body camera video that was captured by the officers during the shooting will be released to the public this week.
