Via NYDN : The 19-year-old actress and singer appears on the July cover of Cosmopolitan and shared with the mag her experiences working with racially insensitive people and her return to Disney. “I didn’t like my hair and makeup one time on a photo shoot, and my publicist told me, ‘You should just be happy with it — they haven’t had a black girl on the cover since forever,’” Coleman said. “She’s no longer my publicist.” The actress and recent face of CoverGirl — who found fame on the series “Shake it Up” — will return to the Disney Channel in a position of more power: co-producer. Coleman will both star and produce the upcoming series “K.C. Undercover,” which she says will hopefully help increase diversity for the network. “The only way I was going to come back to the Disney Channel was if I was in a position of more power,” she said. “One thing that is really important to me is diversity on the channel. It’s hard as a young person of a different ethnicity or background to look at the TV and not see anyone who looks like you. Representation is important,” she continued. Good for Zendaya! Remember the insane story of a Chicago reverend that was run down by a cop car, pepper sprayed, and beaten out of her clothes for no real reason at all? Hiker Rescued After Falling 100 Feet Off Cliff And Writing Goodbye Notes To Family The NYDailyNews is reporting on helluva story about a young adventure-seeker who almost lost her life in the Arizona desert… A 25-year-old hiker who fell 100 feet from an Arizona cliff wrote goodbye notes to her family while severely injured and stranded over 24 hours, she said Monday. Rescuers found Amber Kohnhorst on May 21 below the Rose Cliffs Trail in the Arizona Strip of northwestern Arizona after a search helicopter woke her up around 7 p.m., according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. Kohnhorst, a nurse from Minnesota, had left the bed and breakfast where she was staying on a sunset hike around 4:30 p.m. a day earlier. She suffered three fractures in her back, a crushed pelvis, a broken nose and multiple other injuries in her fall but survived thanks to her rescuers. Kohnhorst, an experienced hiker who had brought a whistle with her, spoke from her hospital bed Monday in an interview with KSTU-TV about the hours she spent languishing. “I couldn’t lie flat, and every time I moved, I screamed. And with that, I blew my whistle thinking maybe somebody would hear me. But I was in the middle of nowhere,” Kohnhorst said. “I wrote letters to my parents, ‘I’m sorry, I’m trying to blow my whistle, I’ve fallen.’ And that was going to be my goodbye.” Can you even IMAGINE?!? Kohnhorst was saved when owners of the bed and breakfast she was staying at alerted authorities that she was missing. A search team heard her blowing a whistle she carried with her. Per usual these days… The GoFundMe page had raised over $11,500 by Tuesday night. Kohnhorst expressed thanks even as she showed the TV station where doctors stitched one of her ears back into her head. “This week has been hard but I have to remember I’m alive,” she said. Life Is Real: Hiker Falls 100 Feet Off Cliff, Writes Goodbye Note To Family, Gets Rescued
She look kinda fly…why would she mess with a boy? She could surely find a man with the qualities she is sprung on…right? A middle school teacher is wanted by authorities, accused of sexually abusing a child. There’s a warrant out for her arrest. Alexandria Vera was an English teacher at Aldine ISD’s Stovall Middle School. According to court documents, last summer Vera met a 13-year-old boy who was a student in her 8th grade English class during summer school. A sexual relationship reportedly developed. Vera claims she and the teen are in love, and she’s been introduced to his family as his girlfriend, court documents state. The boy’s parents are reportedly accepting of the relationship, including Vera in family gatherings. Parents at the middle school are sounding off about the accusations. “I have chills just because of this — just think that the teacher would even do something like this,” parent Mary Claycomb said. One student told Eyewitness News that other students would talk about Vera’s suspicious behavior with the teen boy. “He like grabbed her butt, and everybody saw it,” the student said. “And then they were talking about it.” Court documents go on to detail the fact that Vera allegedly became pregnant with the boy’s baby in January, and his family was said to be excited and supportive about the baby. But after an unexpected visit to the school by Child Protective Services in February, when Vera and the boy were questioned about their relationship, she reportedly became nervous and terminated the pregnancy. Vera is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, and is currently wanted for arrest. Aldine ISD issued the following statement: “Aldine ISD has been made aware that charges have been filed against a former Stovall Middle School teacher involved in inappropriate behavior with a male student. When the allegation was made in April, the teacher was immediately removed from the school and placed on administrative leave. Aldine ISD Police investigated the incident and turned their findings over to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The safety and security of Aldine ISD’s students and staff remains a priority of the school district.” ABC13
