Florida Man Runs Through Airport In Underwear And Nunchucks A man clad only in his underwear was tased last week after he dashed into the main concourse of Tallahassee Regional Airport claiming he had a plane to catch. Via Tallahassee : Police made contact with 26-year-old Chris Haynes after he sped into the airport’s main entrance and left his vehicle unattended in the drop-off loading zone just before 4 a.m. May 5. Haynes made a statement about having a plane to catch as he continued toward the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint, ignoring multiple commands to stop, court records show. Haynes was tased in the back and the buttocks before he was arrested. He was uninjured and was not in possession of an airline ticket. The police report says Haynes possessed nunchukas, but a Tallahassee Police Department spokesman said an officer made an error in writing the report. Haynes did not have any weapons. The officer who tased Haynes wanted to stop him before he could reach the airport terminal. He wrote in the report he was unsure how close other officers were. “The TSA checkpoint is not secure and the subject may have been able to access the air side of the airport terminal,” the police report says. Airport director Chris Curry said airport runway traffic does not begin until around 6 a.m. on average and there was no impact on operations. Haynes told police he knew the officer was telling him to stop and that he would be tased. After he was detained, he said, “I kinda always wanted to be tased.” He also told the officer his name was God and “was deep within sleep, like beyond sleep.” Police were unable to tell if Haynes was under the influence at the time, court records say. An airport baggage porter told police he saw Haynes pull into the airport, heard him say he had a plane to catch and also corroborated the officer’s commands for him to stop. Six Injured On City Bus Struck By Freight Train In Atlanta Via WSBTV : MARTA officials said the bus crossed the train tracks on Welcome All Road to make a left onto Ben Hill Road. Traffic had backed up from the light and a portion of the bus was still on the tracks when the train crashed into it, according to MARTA officials. The bus was hit once, spun around and was hit again, MARTA officials said. Surveillance video from inside and outside the bus shows several different angles of the crash. WSBTV

Spike Lee Defends Controversial “Chiraq” Movie Title Spike Lee is Ray Charles to the critiques… Via HuffingtonPost Movie director Spike Lee, known for films that deal frankly with racial issues, appeared in Chicago on Thursday to defend his planned movie about the city, after its reported title, “Chiraq,” was criticized by local politicians. Speaking at a South Side church and surrounded by African-American mothers carrying pictures of children killed in street violence, Lee said artists hold up a mirror to society and are not afraid to tell the truth. “We have to stop the madness,” Lee said. “This is insane.” He said people who know nothing about it have been expressing opinions about the film. Lee referred to the movie’s “so-called title,” but did not say if “Chiraq” would be the title and did not take questions. “Chiraq” is street slang that compares the nation’s third largest city to the war zones of the Middle East. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, and local alderman Anthony Beale have expressed concern over the title, with Beale calling it “insulting.” Chicago recorded 407 murders in 2014, far ahead of the 328 recorded in the larger city of New York. Chicago has long fought a reputation for violence, enhanced by the mythology surrounding Prohibition-era gangster Al Capone. Many criticized Spike for negatively affecting Chicago’s tourism by releasing a film with such an intimidating title. Lee said he was not concerned about Chicago politics or tourism. “This is not about Chicago losing business,” Lee said. Referring to the grieving mothers around him, Lee said, “No one wants to be a member of this club right here.” Lee cited news reports that 14 people had been shot in the city the day before, with three killed. Baltimore Officers Caught Looting During Riots The Baltimore Police continue to be called into question after Freddie Gray’s death and the subsequent riots last month. Now, new video has surfaced showing officers sent in to help neutralize the situation joining in on the rioting. Via RawStory : Three Baltimore police officers were accused of theft in two separate investigations — including two charged after being caught on video looting a store during the unrest that followed the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray. According to the Baltimore Sun, correction officers Tamika Cobb and Kendra Richard were suspended without pay after footage showed them exiting a local convenience store holding Slim Jims and Tostitos chips on April 25. Take a look: That same day, riots broke out in the city after six hours of peaceful protests calling for charges to be filed against the officers who arrested Gray earlier that month. Six officers were later charged in connection wih Gray’s death. Both Cobb and Richard were assigned to corrections facilities downtown, near the site of the unrest. They face charges of burglary and theft, and bail was set for each of them at $35,000. Public Safety and Correctional Services Secretary Stephen T. Moyer said in a statement that authorities began investigating the two officers following a tip. “We will not allow the vast majority of our employees who are honest and hardworking to be tainted by the actions of a few,” he said. And yet…some still question that members of the Baltimore PD are crooked.
