As previously reported rumors swirled that Porsha called off her engagement to Dennis McKinley after she unfollowed (and refollowed) him on Instagram sparking claims by bloggers that he cheated. Now Porsha’s speaking out for the first time on her relationship since the speculation started and explaining why she took so long to address the rumors. “I’m pretty much doing everything in my own time. Not that there’s anything I’m trying to hide or run away from, but if you love someone and you make a mistake or he makes a mistake or whatever’s going on, you gotta make sure that y’all are good at the end of the day,” said Williams during the American Black Film Festival in Miami as reported by ESSENCE. “I am on a reality television show and I do pride myself on being transparent on the show,” Williams continued, “but at the same time I’m human and when you’re talking about family, something that you want for a lifetime, you have to protect it.” “Mistakes”, huh??? She also added that despite the rumors, she’ll “absolutely love Dennis forever” and she still thanks God for the blessing she claimed. If you can remember, Porsha said during the RHOA season 10 reunion that she’d soon be married and pregnant. “What I will always do is make sure I protect family,” she said. “He will always be my daughter’s father and I will absolutely love him forever. We absolutely go through our ups and downs together. And I still thank God for the blessing I claimed a year ago.” She added, “There are still be things in any of us that aren’t perfect, that we have to deal with as a family. But overall I am still thankful to God and I know he is holding both of our hands as long as we stay in prayer.” Well, at least Porsha’s staying positive. Source: krisanapong detraphiphat / Getty Mississippi Restaurant Is Facing Backlash For One Employee’s Racism One employee working the drive-thru window at a restaurant in Mississippi ended up being fired on Monday after printing a derogatory name on a Black customer’s receipt. According to Alexia Washington, she and a friend visited Who Dat’s on Friday night and placed a meal order, but once they saw what was on the receipt, they were disgusted. “Something told me to look at my receipt,” Washington said, according to WMC Action News . Printed at the top of the receipt were the words “Black b**ches in silver car.” She said she immediately reported the inappropriate text to the manager at Who Dat’s, who made the employee apologize–But of course, she was still disturbed by the worker’s hateful message, which is why she decided to post a picture of it on her Facebook page. “My car isn’t silver, for one,” Washington wrote in the now-deleted post. “For two, I wasn’t rude. I didn’t have any type of hostility. He didn’t have any hostility with me.” She went on to explain her decision to share the message on social media, saying she “wasn’t going to say anything and [was going to] give them the opportunity to do right, but nothing has been done,” according to the Clarion Ledger . Washington claims she had requested that the employee who printed the slur on the receipt be fired, as she felt “racially ridiculed and demeaned as a African American Female.” When her messages to the restaurant’s higher-ups seemed to be ignored, that is when she decided to go public. “I seek justice for this hate crime and I will no longer remain silent,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’ve lived in Oxford for 5 years and I’m still having to deal with this type of ignorance. I’m not a rude or hateful person. I was not rude when I was at this establishment and was greeted with this kind of service. I will not stand for it.” Luckily for Washington, her decision to go public with the whole scenario paid off, as Who Dat’s posted a reply to the customer’s post, assuring her that the employee had indeed been fired. The restaurant’s owner, Wylie Coleman, even met with with Washington face to face after that. In a lengthy note posted to the restaurant’s Facebook, Coleman wrote that he sat down with Washington for an hour and a half on Tuesday “in shock and remorse” to discuss “a broad range of issues and goals in our lives as we work through the summer.” He said he and Washington “have so much common ground.” Coleman called the racist receipt “no joke” and “a vivid insult describing oppression which stabs four-five immediate generations.” He said he couldn’t explain the employee’s action and that it “did not represent us as a business or [personally].” He also declared that the decision to terminate and ban the employee was a joint one made with Washington, as it would be “the only way to move forward.” He added, “From the bottom of my heart I would like to apologize to the young ladies that were attacked by this injustice. We have a lot of work to do as humans and representative[s] of the community.”
Source: Bernard Weil / Getty Raptors Executive Is Being Investigated For Allegedly Assaulting A Cop According to ESPN , the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Toronto Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri for suspicion of misdemeanor battery on a police officer. The alleged incident occurred after Game 6 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, following the Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA title. Ujiri reportedly tried to join the team on the floor, but was stopped by a deputy. Ujiri watched the end of the championship game on television outside the Raptors’ locker room with other team executives. He then walked down the tunnel to the floor to join the on-court celebration with his team. The president came forward more with a more significant push and ended up striking the deputy in the face.” The sheriff’s office is gathering information on what occurred, talking to witnesses and members of the security teams as well as gathering available video, Kelly said Friday.

The rapper gave the SPLC a $25,000 check that is going to ensure detained immigrants in the South will have access to legal counsel. According to the nonprofit, only about 17 percent of immigrants in Southeast detainment centers have access to an attorney during their removal proceedings. The lack of legal representation leaves individuals vulnerable to terrible situations like family separation and deportation. Immigration law attorney Charles H. Kuck said the following in a statement: “21 Savage is making this donation public because everyday Americans need to know that ICE is using civil immigration detention as a weapon against immigrants, many of whom, like 21 Savage, have relief from deportation and are able to fix their immigration status. Creating oppressively adverse conditions of detention, like those in Irwin County, Georgia, far away from family and legal counsel, causes despair and hopelessness, and forces these men and women to give up on their immigration claims. The SPLC, through its Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative (SIFI) stands at the front line of this fight and supporting this effort lets all Americans know that the Constitution which protects the least of us, protects all of us.” If you’ll recall 21 was arrested and detained by ICE himself earlier this year. Immigration officials said that the rapper was born in the United Kingdom and was unlawfully present in the United States. The rapper’s legal team said he had entered the U.S. legally at the age of seven and stayed in the country until he had visited the U.K. in 2005. The rapper returned to the U.S. in July of that year under an H-4 visa, which expired in 2006. He reportedly applied for a visa in 2017; the application was still under review at the time of his arrest. He ended up being released on bond less than two weeks later.
