So Sweet: Husband Makes Black Game Developer Barbie For His Wife Because Mattel Only Sells White Doll

Husband Makes Black Game Developer Barbie For His Wife A loving husband surprised his wife by turning a Barbie into a little version of her according to ABC News : Marcus Montgomery knew exactly what to get his wife for her birthday after Barbie released its newest career doll — the Game Developer Barbie. Still, when Lisette Titre-Montgomery, his wife of two years and a game developer herself, could only find the doll in one skin tone she decided against getting it. That was until Montgomery had an idea: Purchase a Fashionista Barbie in a darker skin tone and dress her up as Game Developer Barbie. And voilà, problem solved. Montgomery, 42, who is also a game developer, said it only took him about 20 minutes to transform his wife’s Barbie. “The hardest part was getting the doll out of the package,” he told ABC News, adding that he wanted to preserve the package to present his wife with her new doll. Many people online have said that the Oakland, California, man is a genius after he shared now viral photos of his custom creation. But Montgomery said he doesn’t think so. “Let’s be real, mothers across America have been doing this for years,” he said. “My ultimate goal was to make my wife smile. #MarriageGoals Marcus Montogomery

A Lil Positivity: Homeless Prom Queen Graduates 2 Years Early With Full College Scholarship While Working All Throughout High School

Homeless Teen Graduates Early With Full Scholarship While a lot of ADULTS would be held back by a devastatingly unfortunate circumstance like homelessness , one DC teenager let it serve as the fuel to push her into academic success — all while holding down a 25-hour per week job and participating in extracurricular activities. Via MailOnline : A homeless Washington teenager managed to graduate high school two years early despite working 25 hours a week winning herself a full scholarship to college. Destyni Tyree was living in the DC Central homeless shelter in Washington DC along with 243 other families when the then 14-year-old’s enrolled into Roosevelt S.T.A.Y. High School. She had been forced out of previous schools when her mother lost her job and had to hand over the keys of the family home because they were no longer able to afford the rent. Within two years, Destyni was able to dramatically turn around her life by applying herself in school. She was appointed captain of the school’s cheerleading squad, earned a 4.0 grade point average, and was voted prom queen. She also secured a full scholarship to Potomac State College of West University University that begins in August. The student managed this despite working for 25 hours a week in an ice cream store. “Quite frankly, I’m just ready to go and live life. I know there’s a better life out there for me. It gets better. If you work hard enough, if you have that drive, if you have that motivation, it gets a lot better. I just time managed. I just wake up and do what I gotta do.” NICE! Congrats to this young girl. We know if she can find success through circumstances like the one she pressed through, there isn’t much she can’t conquer. Facebook

Baby Got Back: Sir-Mix-a-Lot Defends Blake Lively’s ‘L.A. Face With An Oakland Booty’ Cheeky Instagram Caption

Sir-Mix-a-Lot Speaks Out On Blake Lively’s Instagram Caption Controversy We recently reported that actress Blake Lively was still slaying red carpets throughout her latest pregnancy with husband Ryan Reynolds . But a recent post of her prego-style has gotten some social media users calling her a racist and cultural appropriator. The star decided to post up some of the extra curvature that her most recent gut full has given her — with a cheeky caption: As most people born before 1995 know, those are lyrics to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s classic ode to booty, “Baby Got Back.” Seems harmless enough, but nothing in the world of the internet is ever what it seems. Some social media users called Blake out for using the black female form as a punchline , or cultural appropriation of hip-hop slang when she knows nothing of Oakland: So, what does Sir-Mix-a-Lot think of all the controversy? According to Sentinel Land Enterprise : “If what Blake Lively meant by that comment was, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve gained weight, I look horrible’ — and I doubt that she did — then I’m with the critics,” he said, “But no one in the world is gonna tell me that a woman that wears that dress is thinking that she’s fat. It sounds like to me like she was giving the line props.” Just for the record, she didn’t look anywhere close to horrible. “I think we have to be careful what we wish for as African Americans, because if you say she doesn’t have the right to say that, then how do you expect her at the same time to embrace your beauty?” said Mix-a-Lot. “I think it’s almost a nod of approval, and that was what I wanted. I wanted our idea of beautiful to be accepted.” Were YOU offended by Blake’s caption?

Well, the White House announced this morning that she has finally made her choice. According to The Washington Post , Malia is somewhat following in her parents’ footsteps and taking her talents to Harvard.
