We already knew from RHOA that Kandi was a woman about her check$$$… Last night she and hubby Todd hosted “Dinner with Kandi” – an intimate evening of food, music, and conversation where Kandi introduced her acts Glamour and Loud, to a diverse group of Atlanta’s elite media. Top producers, editors, bloggers, radio personalities and journalists from outlets such as Bossip, CNN, Adult Swim, Balleralert, Associated Press, Billboard, Allhiphop, Soulhead, AJC, Rickey Smiley, WABE, Creative Loafing, Freddy O, Atlanta Business Journal and more were in the building for a night to remember. The media was treated to dinner where they were able to have up close time with Kandi and Todd, asking them every question under the sun. The night also served as the first time Kandi has given a tour of the Kandi Factory facility which houses her record label, Kandi Koated Entertainment, recording studio, television production company and the set of Kandi Koated Nights. “No, just look REGULAR!” LOL…. There’s nothing like seeing a strong black couple that’s on their grind to provide for their family while having a little fun in between. We came across this hilariously adorable clip of a husband trying to get his six children in line for a Thanksgiving family photo shoot as his wife had the camera rolling and we couldn’t resist sharing. We did a little digging and found out that the mother of this beautifully blended family is the small business owner of an event-planning company who works two jobs while her husband also works full-time and is in the process of earning a specialized degree to aid him in starting a non-profit organization. This is SKINema history in the making! We interviewed Process Blue producer Joe Rubin yesterday here at the Mr. Skin blog, and he told us about their kickstarter campaign to restore three films by Herschell Gordon Lewis : the “violent lesbian Western” Linda and Abilene (1969), the erotic Blaxploitation flick Black Love (1971), and the go-go sexploitation romp The Ecstasies of Women (1969). All three of these movies are considered “Lost” and have never been released in any format on home video or seen theatrically in nearly 40 years ! Process Blue got their hands on the original negatives for these three lost classics (you can read more about it in our interview with Joe- SC) and are now carefully restoring them to their original glory. This is major news for fans of HGL and exploitation cinema generally, and Process Blue has given Mr. Skin a sneak peek at nude stills from all three films.
