Mile-High Music: Producer Cardo Got Wings Talks Kendrick’s Black Panther Song, Drake’s “God’s Plan” And More

Image via J Films Cardo Got Wings Talks Kendrick Lamar, Drake And Producing Career Some of you might be familiar with the producer tag “ Cardo got wings “. It’s likely that you’ve heard it even if you didn’t know what you were hearing. The Denver, Colorado-born producer, Cardo, has engineered some of the biggest hip-hop bangers over the past several years and more recently, Drake’s new number 1 record “God’s Plan”. The musician is also responsible for the new Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott song on Black Panther: The Album . Cardo recently spoke to Digital Trends about his career, influences and more. @CardoGotWings sent Kendrick the beat for his Travis Scott #BlackPanther soundtrack collab in October, a month after he sent @Drake the beat for God's Plan THAT + sooo much more in our interview: https://t.co/XxLfnqQCVs pic.twitter.com/gyrZ0wuprV — Keith Nelson Jr (@JusAire) February 7, 2018 On Drake’s “God’s Plan”: This year you went from bubbling under the surface to co-producing Drake’s #1 record, God’s Plan. How did you make that beat? What is your reaction to the response. It was really my cousin’s idea, Young Exclusive. He brought it to the table, sent it to me, I did what I had to do, then sent it to Drake around September 2017. The name of the beat originally was called Grace of God, which was really weird. He called the song God’s Plan … My cousin was like, “Yo, this is destined for us.” On Kendrick Lamar: My relationship with [Kendrick] is that’s my bro, bro. We have a cool, solid relationship. We exchange ideas and he’ll tell me what he got in mind. I’ll be like, “Alright, cool.” I’ll send it back to him and he goes, “This is it. This is ear candy.” You can read the interview in full by clicking the DT link above. We look forward to what Cardo’s talent brings in the future.

Nice Try! Facebook Shuts Down Maladroit Mayo Group Planning To Tank ‘Black Panther’s’ Rotten Tomatoes Score

Han Myung-Gu/Getty Images for Disney Facebook Group Planning To Sabotage Black Panther Ratings Shut Down A Facebook group started by an alt-right member planning to sabotage “Black Panther” with negative reviews has been shut down. Last week news spread that the maladroit mayo in the Down-With-Disneys-Treatment-of-Franchises-and-its-Fanboys group declared that they’d flood Rotten Tomatoes with low scores for the film. Over 3,000 people agreed to participate. Unfortunately for the desperate deplorables, Facebook’s shut them down because they “violated community standards.” Rotten Tomatoes has also spoken out and added that they don’t support the hate speech the rancid racists were spewing and if they try to downplay the film, they’ll be blocked. “We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment, and we take that responsibility seriously,” wrote RT in a statement. “While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms, and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.” The film’s director Ryan Coogler previously shook off criticism from the Facebook group and classily said he wants everyone to feel included no matter their politcal views. “For me, I’m looking forward to everybody seeing the film,” Coogler said to  The Huffington Post . “I’m really looking forward to sharing the film with audiences regardless of what their political views are … that’s kind of where I [stand on that].” He’s a much kinder person than us. Lexus Long Live The King Ad Airs During Big Game Featuring T’Challa Himself [VIDEO]

Lexus has just unveiled an extended-length version of Long Live The King, its upcoming Super Bowl commercial for the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F SPORT – a spot in which Chadwick Boseman reprises his title role from Marvel Studio’s highly-anticipated film, Black Panther. What did you think of the ad? Best Super Bowl Commercial ever? Here’s more on the commercial: As King T’Challa (AKA Black Panther), Bosemen is making history as Marvel Studios’ first ever Black lead in a film and has already broken Marvel Studios’ previous pre-sale box-office records. Noteworthy as well is the gender and cultural diversity of the creative team behind Lexus’ Super Bowl work, Walton Isaacson. As the brand’s agency of record for Black, Hispanic and LGBTQ communications, Walton Isaacson spearheaded the partnership between Lexus and Marvel Studios and developed a marketing effort that spans Lexus product integration in the Black Panther film; the creation of the graphic novel, Black Panther: Soul of a Machine; a star-studded Comic Con launch event; forthcoming New York Fashion Week activations; and several digital, print, and in-market extensions to support the program. The Super Bowl spot, directed by Samuel Bayer, and featuring the hit track “Legend Has It” from famed hip-hop duo, Run the Jewels, is filled with intense action sequences performed by actors and stunt people from the Black Panther movie. Die-hard fans will note the attention to canon detail in the portrayal of Black Panther’s Dora Milaje guards, and snippets taken from the film itself. Based on their efforts with the Black Panther film integration and unique approach to the Super Bowl spot, Lexus awarded Walton Isaacson the broadcast creative assignment for the launch of the LS 500, the brand’s new flagship sedan, and the most technologically advanced vehicle Lexus has ever made. “Partnering Lexus and Marvel Studios’ Black Panther was an authentic fit. Both the brand and the film are breaking new ground in terms of advanced technology and cultural leadership,” said agency co-founder, Aaron Walton. Marvel/Lexus Co Branded Images Walton Isaacson lives and breathes the idea of cultural leadership. The Walton Isaacson Super Bowl team are comprised of Black, Latino, Asian and Caucasian leads—over half of whom are women – including Executive Producer, Shauna Williams, who is one of very few women of color to executive produce a Super Bowl spot. This cultural mix was a key factor in the development of Long Live The King.
