In a now-viral video, an employee from a McDonald’s in Spring Hill, Florida angrily shouted the N-Word from the drive-thru window. You will also see another employee calling the police. You can hear the customer shouting “You just called me a n****r!” and the employee double downs on his statement saying “I don’t give a f**k, n****r!” and continues to use the racial slur. The Compton rapper spoke about his sobriety in a new GQ article about drug-free musicians, and revealed that he’s been sober his entire life. That’s right…he’s never popped a pill, hit a blunt, sipped on lean or even had a single drop to drink. “It’s not something that I honestly ever think about. I just never wanted to. I’m not the kind of person that will do something that I don’t want to do.” While it seems like something inconsequential to him — he’s just plain not interested in alcohol or drugs — he gets why it’s some grand shocking revelation to most people that take one look at him as a young Black rapper from Compton and make assumptions: “They don’t expect this from a young black musician my age from where I come from. Like, how could you end up being in the ghetto, went through this, went through that, and not experienced drugs, not experienced alcohol?” However, he admits that the very same things about him that would make people assume he’d partake in recreational drug use are the exact reasons he has no interest: “When you’re surrounded with death and dismay and poverty and all these things that happen every day, I didn’t have time to worry about using or partaking in certain things. People where I come from don’t use drugs in a recreational sense. We’re not at a party, or at the rock show, or at the rap show, doing lines in the bathroom. Where I come from, life comes day after day after day, and people use these things to cope.” He says the immediate threats of death and violence in his life superseded any interest he could have ever had in spending the day chasing a high. “When you have to think about your next 15 minutes—you have to think about the walk to the store, you have to think about how you’re getting to school, you have to think about the bus ride home, you have to think about how you’re going to sneak a gun into the football game—the last thing I was thinking about was getting high.” Good for him for staying true to his inclinations and not falling into the industry BS of drug consumption. When the film is released in the spring, she will be named the youngest executive producer in Hollywood history. The film Little is inspired by the 1988 movie Big that starred Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia . In the film, Regina Hall’s character transforms into her 13-year-old self and has to go through childhood all over again. Martin started pitching the film when she was only 11-years-old. She took to Twitter to share the trailer with her fans this week. Little is directed by Tina Gordon and written by Black screenwriter Tracy Oliver . The cast and crew of this film are the epitome of #BlackGirlMagic. Will Packer , James Lopez , Kenya Barris also served as producers for the project. “I was very comfortable [on set] because they were my people,” Martin said in an interview with Essence . “Working on a bunch of sets, you kind of don’t see that often. The more comfortable you are, the more confident you are — in how you say your lines or how you perform in a certain scene because you’re working with great people, who will watch over you and won’t let you down.” Martin also added that she hopes this milestone will inspire other young Black filmmakers and creatives to push their dreams forward. The film is slated to make its debut in theaters on April 12. During the conversation, she made mention that she is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and was met with a resounding round of “skee-wee’s”. Chelsea Janes (guess the race), a national reporter for the Washington Post was on-hand to cover the event and was utter confused by the sound of pink and green, she tweeted (and subsequently deleted, but we’ll get to why in a minute): Members of her Howard sorority are in the room and screeched when she mentioned her time there. Did not expect to hear screeches here. Chelsea was completely oblivious to the signal of the AKA’s and her ignorance sparked an annoyed backlash on Twitter. One such annoyed party is SiriusXM Senior Director of Progressive Programming and MSNBC regular Zerlina Maxwell. She rightfully and incredulously asked why white reporters are allowed to consistently lack knowledge of Black culture. Kamala is running for POTUS (probably). She's an AKA. The fact that the white reporter sent to cover her didn't know what Skee Wee was is not a good sign that the media is going to cover her with the cultural competency required. According to KCBS Radio , sources claim that Harris, 54, plans on throwing her hat in the presidential election ring, most likely announcing her bid on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a rally in her hometown of Oakland. However, one of Harris’ reps told The Hill on Thursday that no announcement is imminent and she will not be in Oakland during the holiday weekend. As a woman of color, Harris is no stranger to breaking the political glass ceiling in her state, which is why her mother warned her about the racial and gender stereotypes she would face. “In spite of the fact that it is the woman who is the lioness, protecting those cubs.
