Editorial: Why Aren’t You Giving Waffle House That Same Energy You Had For Starbucks?

(Photo by Julie Dermansky/Corbis via Getty Images) Just two weeks ago, two young black men were arrested after a Starbucks barista called police on them for simply sitting down in the coffeehouse. Video captured the arrests and the clip went viral immediately. The reaction was swift and unrelenting. The young black men were clearly racially profiled and treated like they were because they are black. Hell, they were only in the Starbucks for two minutes, not even really getting a chance to actually loiter. The outrage towards Starbucks came from all corners of social media – white, black, man and woman – all joined forces to threaten boycotts, write the company and demand they rectify a wrongdoing. As a result of the mobilizing, the Starbucks CEO decided to stand with the young men, offering them working opportunities, making media appearances and even closing stores for a day to initiate diversity training for its employees. This was certainly above and beyond what we’ve seen from most companies accused of racial insensitivities and it’s largely thanks to the efforts of black activists who held Starbucks’ feet to the fire nonstop. Waffle House has been spared this outcome. Chikesia Clemons walked into a Waffle House in Saraland, Alabama late on the evening of April 22nd, a few days after the Starbucks incident. It’s unclear what happened next but we do know, thanks to another viral video, police were called and Clemons was held down, her breast exposed, officer hands on her neck. It was disgusting. The events that led to the altercation are disputed: Waffle House employees say that Clemons walked in drunk and threatened to “shoot up” the restaurant after being charged $.50 for plastic utensils. However, the employee who called 911 never mentioned the threat to the operator. Clemons’ attorney, Benjamin Crump, says he has witnesses who dispel the employee’s claims. Waffle House and its CEO have stood by the actions of its employees and even taking a step farther by saying they “strongly support the actions taken by the Saraland Police Department” (despite the fact that Waffle House as a business isn’t one with an expertise in law enforcement training so they really don’t have any authority to say what is proper protocol or not). And through it all, the amount of pushback directed at Waffle House has been infinitesimal compared to the amount of action directed at Starbucks. There are marches taking place in Georgia, and proposed boycotts and sit-ins, but not nearly on the level of what we saw at Starbucks, which forced the CEO to speak up. Why? Is it because there were so many vocal white cosigners for the Starbucks incident as opposed to the Waffle House situation? The Starbucks incident was one of those acts of resistance that didn’t inconvenience white people while at the same time allowing many to feel like they are about equality – it’s easy to point the finger at one Starbucks worker for her actions. However, we’ve seen how so many white Americans simply can’t bring themselves to question law enforcement. Is the reluctance because there just never seems to be the same sort of thirst for justice when it comes to black women as for literally any other group of people on this planet? We’ve seen these cases so often of a hesitance or flat-our refusal for anyone to stand up for black women, which the exception of black women themselves. Of course, there’s the fact that the Waffle House situation has more dissenting testimonies than Starbucks. That’s undeniable. But no matter what the narrative is, there’s absolutely no reason for Clemons to have been assaulted as she was. That is also undeniable. So Waffle House going so far as to defend the police actions is a reprehensible enough decision to warrant immediate action, even if you feel they are justified in calling police in the first place.. Sadly, though, when it comes to instances of black women being attacked, there’s always a wait-and-see approach. Stories about wronged black women seem to bring about the “let’s let the facts play out crowd.” The same people who have an understanding of lies and conspiracies to keep black men subjugated are suddenly proponents of the American judicial system, despite its history of terrorizing black communities. Where does that leave the Chikesia Clemonses of the world? The same place it left Korrine Gaines or the endless black women who are victims of R. Kelly’s sexual assaults. Alone, defended by only other black women and a few choice allies. So what side do you fall on? If you spoke up about Starbucks but have been silent about Waffle House, then you need to ask yourself why. And what that means about your ideas of justice for black women. Because it needs to be understand that none of us are free until all of us are free. Here’s more information on how you can help bring #JusticeForChikesia and support. Christina Milian’s Wet Hard Nipples of the Day

Here’s some Christina Milian bikini whoring…and we really have to give it to her….at 40 years old she’s still fucking bringing the shameless self promotion, and she was never even that famous. She was on some Disney Show or Disney movie from the perverts 20 fucking years ago…and in 2000 or 2001, we’re talking Y2K she had ONE HIT, ONE SONG, ONE SLUTTY VIDEO of her rolling around….that is it. That’s the extent of her public persona… Then she went on to marry an accomplished producer, have his kid, get song writing credits on huge fucking songs, and with that has the ability to afford being a shameless bikini whore… I don’t like it, I think she’s garbage, and I think she’s getting in the way of actual hot YOUNG black girls who want to make it, who have talent and drive, who aren’t ratchet and vile, because the world is full of hot bodied, long legged, round assed, big titty, black girls who are well raised that I’d rather see in short shorts and bikinis…they deserve this post more than Milian MOOCHING…but entertainment is racist and only celebrates those who crack through… I also hate seeing a mom trying so hard to be a Kim Kardashian…instead of being a mom….it’s just shameless self promotion after shameless self promotion and I can’t imagine anyone actually caring about her, following her, or engaging in her bullshit content, yet here I am reposting it like it matters…to say how much it doesn’t matter…confusing everyone involved in the making of this post… YES…I am weak when hard nipples are involved. Family Outraged That Prosecutor Declined To Charge Cops In Taser Death Of Mentally Ill Black Man

A dam Trammell ’s father is furious that the criminal justice system allowed two cops who repeatedly shocked his mentally ill son with stun guns last year will not face justice. SEE ALSO: Report: Most Victims Shot By Cops Are Mentally Ill Or In Crisis The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday that there will be no charges against two police officers in the death of 22-year-old Trammell. District Attorney John Chisholm found “no basis to conclusively link Mr. [Adam] Trammell’s death to actions taken by police officers.” “This is a nightmare. I can’t believe this. I think those people should resign. The D.A. and the chief of that police department,” said Trammell’s father, Larry Trammell ,   according to USA Today . Two West Milwaukee police officers who “tortured Adam Trammell to death” will not be charged. Trammell, who was mentally ill, was naked in the shower when police broke down his door, tased him 18 times, broke his rib, and gave him a black eye. https://t.co/ABgDOk6Jf7 — Fair Punishment Project (@FairPunishment) April 27, 2018 The two officers responded to a call on May 25 at the apartment complex where Trammell lived. A neighbor was concerned that he was experiencing a psychotic episode. Another neighbor who lived in the unit below Trammell’s apartment told the officers that water was leaking through the ceiling. The cops broke down Trammell’s door and found him naked, taking a shower. Bodycam footage showed Trammell confused but calm when the cops confronted him. The officers used a Taser 15 times over a 30-minute period after he struggled to prevent them from taking him out the shower. Trammell ultimately lost consciousness, and the officers handcuffed him. He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse when the paramedics put him into the ambulance. Trammell was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital. “These police tortured Adam Trammell to death,” said Robin Shellow , a lawyer representing his family. “This was not ‘help.’ They were not protecting or serving anyone. Naked, cold, confused, alone in his own bathroom and crying for Jesus to take him, he needlessly suffered.” It’s no surprise that the cops are back on duty, without fear of prosecution. “If you are mentally ill and black, you already have two strikes against you if you come into contact with law enforcement,” wrote civil rights attorney Ben Crump , referring to the spate of high-profile police killings of mentally ill African Americans. In the article he wrote for CNN, Crump lamented a third strike, based on a U.S. Supreme Court decision on April 2. The justices ruled that an Arizona police officer who shot and killed a woman with a history of mental illness could not be sued. The court said the officer was entitled to qualified immunity. Under that legal doctrine, police are immune from excessive force lawsuits as long as they don’t violate “clearly established” rights that a “reasonable person would have known.” SEE ALSO: White House Spokeswoman Called ‘Uncle Tom’ At Correspondents’ Dinner Another Black Man Was Thrown Out Of A Restaurant For Just Sitting Down [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3440564″ overlay=”true”]

Statues Out Of The Sunken Place: Why Black Women Should Be Honored

Read more:

T he removal of several Confederate statues across the country has forced many Americans into a reckoning with race. This national examination has led to the idea of statues honoring Black women, who are underrepresented. For many activists, monuments celebrating African-American women are long overdue. These stories of certain African Americans should be put on full display through public fixtures, pro-Black monument advocates have said. A” reclaiming my time” moment has swept the nation into more rallies for change. Here are recent developments that are bringing hope that there will be more statues of Black women: Coretta Scott-King Bust Unveiled In Boston The New England Conservatory debuted a tribute to Scott-King Tuesday (April 24) in time for the civil rights icon’s birthday on Friday (April 27). Artist MacLean Tiffany designed the “Continuation Of A Dream” bust as a way to honor the activist’s human rights and social justice work at the school, which is King’s alma mater, Boston Magazine reported. New England Conservatory unveiled a new bust of civil rights icon Coretta Scott King, who graduated from the school in 1954 https://t.co/IdethhhXJO pic.twitter.com/1Xubvw4Zg9 — Boston Magazine (@BostonMagazine) April 26, 2018 “What she stands for—the values and beliefs that she had—very much resonate with who we are as an institution and with our student body,”  Tom Novak , the interim president of NEC, said. “All this aligned to bring this statute, this bust, to us, as a way of honoring that and keeping it in our consciousness.” Pittsburgh To Honor A Black Woman Pittsburgh took down a racist statue of Stephen Foster , a conversational songwriter known for minstrel tunes in the 1800s, on Thursday. It had been a fixture at a city park for 118 years. The statue featured a Black slave sitting at Foster’s feet with a banjo. “It’s the single most offensive display of public art in Pittsburgh, hands down,” Paradise Gray , a hip-hop activist, musician and writer, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in August. “It permanently depicts the Black man at the White man’s feet.” The city is looking to erect a Black women’s statue to replace Foster and is taking nominations. Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth and many others would fit the bill. Memphis Takes Down Racist Confederate Monuments The city removed two racist statues under the cover of night after a heated debate last December. The removal of the statutes — one for Confederacy president Jefferson Davis and slave trader as well as KKK member Nathan Bedford Forrest —  was the culmination of months of protest work that pushed elected officials into action. Last year, Memphis TN, the city where MLK was killed, removed a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a KKK leader and slaveowner. State lawmakers are now punishing the city by stripping away $250,000 in funding. #ConfederateMonuments This is America in 2018 https://t.co/Z99z0vvwlw — Kristen Clarke (@KristenClarkeJD) April 19, 2018 Events in Memphis, Pittsburgh and Boston will likely lead to more proposals for empowering statues. Race Matters: NYC Schools Chancellor Calls Out White Parents On Twitter For Being Against Integration

Getty Images New NYC Schools Chancellor Calls Out White Parents On Twitter NYC  Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza went in on Twitter on Friday, calling out white parents who are opposing efforts to integrate city schools–and he gave his most aggressive statement yet on this subject. 51-year-old Carranza is the child of Mexican immigrants and a veteran educator, and took the city’s top schools job only four weeks ago. He first addressed the subject on Twitter at 1 a.m. Friday, in a now-deleted tweet. The chancellor tweeted a RawStory recap of an Upper West Side school meeting on Tuesday, where numerous white parents spoke out against plans to integrate multiple neighborhood middle schools. “WATCH: Wealthy white Manhattan parents angrily rant against plan to bring more black kids to their schools,” Carranza tweeted, with a link to a video that originally appeared on NY1. The tweet linked to the RawStory write-up that began: “New effort to diversify schools in the Upper West Side of Manhattan – one of the richest neighborhoods in the city – has drawn an angry reaction from many parents…” We continue to see example after example of how so many people who espouse a desire for equity only want it in the abstract. But when equity necessities that these people share the resources they’ve been given with others, they show their true colors. https://t.co/DxcKWr2wN1 — Clint Smith (@ClintSmithIII) April 27, 2018 During an unrelated school tour Friday morning in Harlem, Carranza further explained his tweet and his views on school segregation, which are way more militant than those of his predecessor Carman Fariña. “These important conversations about creating opportunities for all students are necessary,” Carranza stated. “Parents and staff … raise the issue of segregation in schools — and I’m glad we’re talking about it.” When Mayor de Blasio was asked about his new chancellor’s spirited tweet during his weekly appearance on the Brian Lehrer show on Friday morning, he attempted to clarify Carrazna’s statements saying, “I don’t think he at all intends to vilify anyone — he’s not that type of person. This was his own personal voice … I might phrase it differently.”

Community Calls For Boycot After Virginia Newspaper Runs A KKK Recruitment Ad On Their Front Page

(DAVID MAXWELL/AFP/Getty Images) Newspaper Gets Backlash After Running Front-Page Ad For KKK What in the Yakubian world is going on in Virginia ? The Westmoreland News is facing major backlash after they recently ran a recruitment ad for the Ku Klux Klan on its front page. This completely blatant advertisement is complete with disgusting statements like “Wake up White America! Stop allowing these third world savages to walk all over YOUR people!” and the telephone number to a national KKK hotline. Westmoreland News in Virginia ( @TheWN ) featured this #racist ad on their front page today. In 2018. In America. This is unacceptable and should enrage every decent human. #racists #racism #WhiteSupremacy #FightRacism pic.twitter.com/vBTZ7BzThw — Jennifer Knecht (@_jenniferknecht) April 26, 2018 Black residents only make up about 15% of the town’s population–go figure–and are obviously appalled at the publication’s decision to run such an ad. Colonial Beach resident Betty Tate Thompson said about the incident on   WTVR , “They posted the whole flyer as if they were giving them free advertising. It even had the number on flyer to contact the head of the KKK. Which I thought was totally ridiculous.” Police Chief Danny Plott, who alerted the paper about the ads, told the station that after speaking to the editor of the paper,   Brittlynn Powell, she “explained that she wanted to put it in to show people that those of us in Colonial Beach who may think there’s not racism … I think she didn’t expect for this to blow up the way it did.” Sure, seems legit…. Newsweek  has reported that there are multiple calls for boycotts on the paper’s  Facebook page , saying that the story was essentially free advertising for the hate group.

Elizabeth Olsen Got Them TItties On of the Day

I accidentally watched an Elizabeth Olsen movie last night…and as it turns out, I don’t really hate her…I mean I appreciate that despite possibly having too much Botox, she’s actually a full sized version of her Alien sisters and with that has some tits and some softness that doesn’t look like some creature you’d be terrified is going to crawl up into your bed when you’re sleeping to probe your asshole and send your biodata back to space to help gather information on how to detroy America…only to learn that it’s probably best done through porn. I don’t know how this sister got a career when the younger sisters are usually forgotten, but I guess America just fucking loves the Olsens, were raised on the Olsens and when the Olsen’s tapped out with their billions of dollars to focus on chain smoking and fashion….she had an opportunity to move in…and she’s tolerable….and she’s got tits…because I guess she had the womb all to herself…and could develop normally..or as normal as possible living in the Olsen exploiting your kids to make stupid money factory… TO SEE THE REST OF THE PICS CLICK HERE
