The Voice Recap: The Battles Conclude!

The Battle Rounds are complete, as The Voice’s coaches finalized their teams for the knockout rounds on Tuesday with some terrific final duets. The coaches how have eight singers apiece headed into next week’s Knockout Round. Kicking things off last night? Cathia and Mary Miranda … Cathia vs. Mary Miranda – The Voice Battle Round In a bold move, Shakira pitted Bronx native Cathia, an aspiring Latina pop star, against Cuban-born Mary using her own song, “Antes Des Las Seis.” Usher, the only coach who had an available steal, used it to nab Cathia after Mary emerged triumphant. Elsewhere on the final night of Battles … Duncan Kamakana vs. Sarah Simmons – The Voice Battle Round Adam Levine paired Sarah Simmons with Duncan Kamakana on Lady Antebellum’s “Wanted You More,” with Lady A’s own Hillary Scott as assistant coach. Sarah ended up winning the battle and widespread praise. Brandon Roush vs. Shawna P. – The Voice Battle Round The evening also pitted the oldest competitor, Shawna P., 45, against one of the youngest, Brandon Roush, 19. They sang “Piece of My Heart.” This time, experience won out. Shakira picked Shawna. Justin vs. Morgan Twins, Amy vs. Agina & Michelle vs. Chelsea – The Voice Finally, Adam chose Amy Whitcomb over Agina Alvarez; Blake chose Justin Rivers over the Morgan Twins; and Usher picked Michelle Chamuel over Chelsea M. The Voice Recap: Best. Battle. Ever.

After getting underway Monday, The Voice battle round continued last night with an epic vocal throwdown – and steal showdown involving the loser. Blake Shelton paired Caroline Glaser, 18, and Danielle Bradbery, 16, together for a rendition of “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae. In doing so, he virtually assured neither would go home. Caroline Glaser vs. Danielle Bradbery – The Voice Battle Round Blake ultimately picked Bradbery, telling the youngster as only he can, “I don’t know what your parents are feeding you, but I want a big loaf of that.” “Your natural singing ability really blows my mind.” But there was no sad ending for Glaser, as both Levine and Usher almost immediately hit their buttons for the steal and begged for her services. “I wasn’t prepared for this,” said a clearly overwhelmed Glaser, who eventually chose Adam. Levine had his own battle to mediate Tuesday as well. The night kicked off with a country showdown between sheriff Michael Austin and firefighter Warren Stone, who sang “My Kinda Party” by Jason Aldean: Michael Austin vs. Warren Stone – The Voice Battle Round Warren won “because of the diversity” in his voice. Usher proved he takes his gig seriously when he showed some tough love to Jeff Lewis and Josiah Hawley, who sang “Roxanne” by The Police. Jeff Lewis vs. Josiah Hawley – The Voice Battle Round Usher eventually chose Josiah. In other battles: Blake chose Grace Askew over Trevor Davis, Usher selected Audrey Karrasch over Jamila Thompson, and Shakira chose to Tawnya Reynolds over Mark Andrew. The Voice Season 4 Ratings: Climbing!

Suffice it to say, Shakira and Usher on The Voice works. NBC’s singing competition hit is pulling off a rare feat, increasing its ratings since the Season 4 premiere, with a switched-up judging panel to boot! Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still holding it (and throwing it) down, but the show has not been dinged by the hiatus of Christina and Cee Lo. Three weeks in, The Voice is up 4 percent from the previous cycle, hitting a season high 13.7 million viewers and a 4.9 rating among adults 18-49 last night. The show still could tank as we head deeper into spring, but it certainly doesn’t look like it. In fact, Usher and Shakira are re-igniting the fire if anything. The blind auditions conclude this evening on NBC. Grade Usher and Shakira on The Voice:   Love them! They’re great! They were okay. We’ll see if they improve. Not a fan! Ashley Greene Fire: Huge Blaze Engulfs Twilight Star’s Condo, Kills Dog

A fire ripped through the West Hollywood condo owned by Twilight star Ashley Greene this morning, causing major damage and killing one of her dogs. At least 10 fire trucks swarmed to the seven-story building earlier today to extinguish the blaze. Three people were treated for minor injuries. Residents in the building who live near Ashley Greene say that her brother and assistant had been going in and out of the condo all morning. One resident says she heard glass exploding in Ashley’s condo. Of the 26-year-old’s two fox terriers, one died at the scene under the bed. The second dog lived and was taken by Animal Control to be checked out. Several other residents tried to fight the blaze with fire extinguishers and were covered in soot. It’s still not clear what exactly started the blaze. According to TMZ, Ashley, her boyfriend and her brother were out late last night and were sleeping when the fire broke out on the living room sofa. They ran out of the apartment, and then realized the dogs were still there. Bravely, the two men tried to get back in to rescue them but couldn’t. The “inconsolable” Ashley wanted to keep the dog that died, so firefighters wrapped it in a sheet and gave it either to Ashley or one of the two guys. We’re sorry for Ash’s loss and for the fact that she had to go through that. It’s easy to get a new place, but pets and memories are forever. Chin up, girl.

Miranda Lambert Cleared of Allegedly Threatening to Punch Store Owner

Earlier this week, country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton cleared up rumors about his non-affair with Cady Groves and other tabloid allegations. Now she’s been cleared – in a bizarre case in which a local store owner complained Lambert threatened to punch her. Police will not be charging her. Officials in Tishomingo, Okla., found no evidence that Shelton’s wife ever threatened to punch the woman earlier this month, as was reported. “Both the District Attorney and City Attorney reached the same conclusion that no crime was committed,” said an investigator working the case. Melanie Peden, 48, claimed Lambert became angry after she was invited to check out the former’s new antique store, Two Doors Down Junktique. This was March 5, just a few days before its grand opening. As it turns out, the shop is located near the crooner’s own boutique, The Pink Pistol. Per the National Enquirer, her accuser alleged Lambert launched into a tirade after learning that Peden bought the real estate out from under her. “She just walked around the place scowling at everything and finally blurted out that I stole this,” Peden said. “I was shocked when she became so angry.” Peden said that Lambert then became so incensed, she then threatened to slug her right in the mouth and take her to court. Police did not agree. Thankfully for the Grammy Award winner, law enforcement probing the matter determined otherwise and closed their investigation. Case closed. Crazy month for Blake Shelton and Miranda Shelton , but they seem to be taking all the rumors, hints, accusations and tabloid gossip in stride. Rock on.

He’s never not on the radio. He’s gotten a lot of ink. And girls. He wears $120 pre-ripped t-shirts. He’s as outspoken as he is talented. It’s Adam Levine’s birthday, everybody! The Maroon 5 singer turns 34 years old today. If you haven’t gotten your Levine fix from AHS Season 2 or any radio station in the U.S., we have good news: The Voice Season 4 kicks off next Monday! Usher and Shakira will be stepping in for Cee Lo and Christina, but Adam and BFF Blake Shelton will be back and, presumably, more entertaining than ever. We can’t wait. And happy birthday, Adam!

Okay, Life & Style admits in its latest issue, there was no Blake Shelton affair . The Voice judge did not actually cheat on his superstar wife, as a previous cover story alleged via capital letters and misleading wording. But Shelton did reportedly get kind of close to a 23-year old old artist named Cady Groves… and Lambert was none too pleased about the interaction! As a result, the magazine claims Lambert actually called Groves on more than one occasion and warned her to stay away from her man. Listen up, Kim Kardashian . Amber Rose has some painful news to share about new motherhood. “Man breastfeeding is awesome. It kinda hurts though,” Rose Tweeted yesterday. “But the bonding with my baby is unbelievable. So worth it.” Awww, that’s sweet. Rose and Wiz Khalifa welcomed Sebastian Taylor Thomaz into the world on February 21, with the first-time father so excited he just had to post a photo of his son online within 24 hours. Has Khalifa calmed down since? No way! “Bash is so awesome,” he Tweeted a couple days later. “He makes the coolest faces… My son wakes right up and gives me kisses on the nose and hardly cries.” Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz. Kate Gosselin Sort of Slams Kendra Wilkinson on Celebrity Wife Swap

Watching Kate Gosselin and Kendra Wilkinson trade lives for a day on Celebrity Wife Swap felt oddly like old times. You know, when they were on TV a lot. As a single mother of eight children, it was kind of a total cakewalk for Kate to slip into Kendra’s life – one child, a husband present, a full-time nanny even. Kate Gosselin on Celebrity Wife Swap Still, all Kate seemed to see were examples of how Kendra is not that great of a mother, and lazy to boot. She didn’t hold back at all about her experiences. “Imagine my surprise, then, when I arrived at your house and discovered you have one child. It was a very unique experience to sort of do nothing,” Kate said. Later, she told her CWS counterpart, “Reading your manual made me believe that you just let everybody else do everything because you don’t care.” This reduced Kendra to tears. Jeez, Kate, tell us how you really feel! Sure, a vintage Kate Gosselin meatloaf recipe feeds eight mouths, but she may want to sprinkle in a little compassion.
