The Voice Honors Connecticut Shooting Victims With Moving "Hallelujah" Tribute

Before The Voice Top 3 performed for the last time Monday, the NBC show kicked off its finale with a tribute to the victims of Friday’s Connecticut school shooting tragedy. Coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine were joined by ALL the Season 3 contestants for a stirring rendition of “Hallelujah.” Leonard Cohen’s song, also popularized by Jeff Buckley’s amazing cover, is emotional on an average day. In the wake of the Newtown shooting ? Amazingly so. As the fab four sang lead, their proteges provided backing vocals and all held name cards of the victims and their ages. The Voice Results: Who Got the Chop?

The Voice results show set a new precedent tonight. Unlike previous seasons, the singers are no longer exclusively battling their team, and the coaches no longer have a say in who stays beyond The Voice Top 12 . In other words, it’s anyone’s game, and any team could lose two singers in a given week (some speculated this would happen to Christina right off the bat, in fact). Did it? Find out who was sent home below … The two eliminated singers this week are: Adriana Louise and Michaela Paige! Probably not a huge surprise to those who have watched Season 3 regularly. Team Christina’s Adriana was not considered a contender to win it all. Michaela showed promise, but it’s a tough field, and Cassadee Pope – perhaps the singer most similar to Paige – is just a little bit more polished. Or is she? What do you think? Tell us below: Do you agree with The Voice results?   Yes, America got it right this week. No! Michaela was robbed! No! Adriana was robbed! No! They were both robbed! View Poll »

Blake Shelton Jokes About Turtle Murder, Tells Fan to GET A LIFE!

Blake Shelton incited a major Twitter war over the weekend and was eventually forced to apologize for a tasteless joke and a string of insults… all because of a fake turtle’s death. It all started on July 27 when Shelton wrote: Does anyone know if the Eastern Box turtle is protected in Oklahoma? If so I didn’t just swerve to the shoulder of the road to smash one… NPR blogger Barbara J. King quickly responded in shock, asking the country music superstar: That turtle’s life meant something- was your tweet a bad joke? Why would you be so cruel to a living being?” From there, it was on! Shelton especially got into it with a user named @turtlefeed, going off on her/him in reply to that follower questioning Shelton’s apathy for animals: Hey @turtlefeed. Before u make an even bigger dipshit of urself you should research on how much money I have raised to feed homeless animals… Hey @turtlefeed.. I solely have raised over a million dollars in animal rescue/conservation alone… How much have you raised? Oh. Ok. Next! The artist eventually revealed that he was joking all along, but not before getting awfully personal in his insults: The best part of all of this is that the dumb asses didn’t even look to see that I’m not even in Oklahoma today!! I’m in North Dakota!! Do they even have turtles in North Dakota?!!! God almighty! Finally, Shelton received so much flak for his joke and his responses that he tried to issue an apology to put an end to the back and forth: Ok.. Now that “Turtle-Gate” is over I want to apologize for my ignorant joke.. I never ran over a turtle. It wasn’t even possible.

‘The Voice’ Winner Jermaine Paul Wants To Reunite With Alicia Keys

‘We’ve been working on a song for a while now,’ he tells MTV News of Keys, while also gushing about mentor Blake Shelton. By Christina Garibaldi Jermaine Paul Photo: MTV News It’s been a week since Jermaine Paul won the second season of “The Voice,” beating out Juliet Simms to take the title for Team Blake, but the former Alicia Keys backup singer still can’t believe all that has happened to him in such a short amount of time. Paul stopped by MTV News on Monday and reflected on the moment they announced his name as the winner and how his coach, and friend, Blake Shelton was able to bring him back to reality. “I was going through a whole emotional, mental shock, and I even physically thought my legs weren’t under me, I had my hands on my head,” Paul said. “I had this crazy tingling sensations like going through my head — it’s a feeling I can’t even explain — and he brought me back to reality and grabbed me and was like, ‘You did it, man! It’s you!’ It was an amazing feeling.” Many were surprised when Paul chose Shelton to be his mentor in the beginning of the season, given that he’s an R&B artist, while Blake is a country star. But much like Shelton and fellow coach Adam Levine , Paul developed his own “bromance” with his mentor. “He’s a good guy, he’s a man’s man, he’s a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of guy, and that’s the kind of guy I try to be,” Paul said. “That was ultimately one of the main reasons I chose him as my coach. I just felt his sincerity, the realness. He jokes around a lot, you know? When he walks in the room, he definitely has a way of lighting up the air.” Another huge supporter of Paul’s is his former boss, Alicia Keys. Paul revealed that the superstar singer was always advocating for him to begin his own solo career. “She’s always been supportive. Even while I was singing, I would tell her, ‘I want to go solo,’ and she was like, ‘What are you waiting on?’ and I would tell her, ‘I’m waiting on God to fix things out,’ and she was like, ‘Maybe God is waiting on you.’ ” Clearly, Keys’ advice has paid off for Paul, who is hoping to release a track with her on his future album. “We’ve been working on a song for a while now,” Paul said. “And, you know, what better time than now?” Are you excited for Jermaine Paul’s debut album? Let us know in the comments!

The Voice Results: Adam and Cee Lo Save …

After Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green sent home Pip and James Massone, respectively, in The Voice’s instant elimination round Monday, they had to turn around and cut another contestant apiece on last night’s results show. Tony Lucca (Adam) and Jamar Rogers (Cee Lo) advanced from America’s votes. That left Mathai and Katrina Parker to sing for Adam’s save, with Cheesa and Juliet Simms battling for Cee Lo’s spot in the semifinals. Who moved on? The Voice: Adam Levine Saves … Mathai sang a spirited version of Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova” but it was Katrina Parker’s version of “Perfect” by Pink that won over the panel. Adam struggled with the decision but finally chose Katrina to continue on. “I’m shocked and obviously very happy,” Katrina said, fighting through the tears. “This is very bittersweet because I’m very attached to Mathai.” Mathai, for her part, was a class act as she thanked Adam, the show and America for “showing me how much I want to sing for the rest of my life.” The Voice: Cee Lo Green Saves … As for Team Cee Lo, Cheesa and Juliet went toe to toe with the former belting out Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone” and the latter “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia. Cee Lo hammed and hawed a bit, but he ultimately saved Juliet from elimination, citing the extent to which America has rallied around her this spring. Not enough to save her with their votes, but still, point taken. Do you think Adam and Cee Lo made the right calls? Who will win The Voice? Tell us below!
