Hamburg vs Chelsea highlights 2-1

Chelsea from slipping to a 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat away to Hamburg. Frank Lampard#39;s goal could not prevent an almost full-strength Chelsea from slipping to a 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat away to Hamburg. The England midfielder put the Blues ahead in the 24th minute, tapping Michael Essien#39;s unselfish square pass into an empty net, but Mladen Petric capitalised on a mistake by Yury Zhirkov, on at left-back for Ashley Cole, to beat Ross Turnbull with 18 minutes to go. Halak Traded From Montreal To Blues For Prospects Eller, Schultz

Pierre Leburn of ESPN is reporting that prospects Lars Eller and Ian Schultz are the return in Thursday’s trade of goaltender Jaroslav Halak from Montreal to St. Louis. Eller was the Blues first round pick, chosen 13th overall, in 2007. He’s one of the best prospects in the Blues system. He played seven games with the NHL club this season, scoring two goals in those games. He’s a nicely sized prospect who has a very well-rounded skill set. Schultz, who last played with Calgary of the WHL, is less of a known asset. He was selected in the third round by the Blues back in 2008 and his junior eligibility is up, meaning he’s set to turn pro. It would be shocking to see Schultz in the NHL with the Canadiens next season. The Blues have confirmed the trade on their website. There have been reports that Brad Boyes was involved as well, but that’s not included in the report by the Blues. Here’s a bit from it: ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Thursday the club has acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forwards Lars Eller and Ian Schultz . “Jaroslav’s play in this year’s regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs was remarkable,” said Davidson. “He has had very impressive numbers in the NHL and we are thrilled that he will be wearing the Bluenote for us.” Halak, 25, was 26-13-5 in 2009-10 for Montreal and ranked 4th in the NHL in save percentage (.940), 9th in goals against average (2.40) and was tied for 5th with five shutouts. In his 26 wins this season he had a GAA of 1.68 and a save % of .948. He was 4-2-0 vs. the Western Conference with a GAA of 2.19 and a .928 save %. The 2009-10 “Molson Cup” winner as team MVP was 44-27-6 over the last two seasons in Montreal with a save percentage of .924 and GAA of 2.59. Hilariously, Halak’s agent, Allan Walsh, had the following message on Twitter Wednesday night. Received an e-mail from reporter claiming inside knowledge that Jaro Halak just purchased big home in Montreal. Total fantasy. We’ll be back with reaction from both cities shortly.

Veteran Gavin Thomas back for Wales against New Zealand

• Dragons flanker to face All Blacks in first Test • Alun Wyn Jones and Andrew Bishop also start at Carisbrook Gavin Thomas, the 32-year-old who last played Test rugby in 2007, was today named by Wales in the starting XV for the international against the All Blacks on Saturday. The open-side flanker gets his chance in the first of two Tests in New Zealand because Martyn Williams was allowed to miss the tour and because his replacement, Sam Warburton, broke his jaw playing against the Springboks. The other change in the pack is the return of the lock Alun Wyn Jones, while Andrew Bishop replaces the centre James Hook, who is about to have surgery on his damaged shoulder. For those who thought Thomas’s return underlined the Welsh problem of lack of cover in some positions, the coach, Warren Gatland, was adamant: “Gavin Thomas is an experienced flanker who knows all about what it takes to perform at international level. He and Alun Wyn Jones have both impressed in training and deserve their chance this weekend.” The coach might also have mentioned that Thomas has been impressive for Newport Gwent Dragons this season after having his contract with Scarlets terminated. Thomas has also battled back from an achilles injury to produce some of his best rugby this season. Thomas, who made his international debut in 2001 and last played for Wales on the 2007 tour of Australia, admitted he had thought about retiring but after the Dragons lifeline was looking forward to his 23 Test “more than I have any others. I didn’t think it would happen, but it’s here and I need to do something about it”. “This is a performance I need to get right,” said Thomas after hearing that he would be going head-to-head with the All Black captain and inspiration, Richie McCaw. With Gethin Jenkins, Shane Williams, Andy Powell, Duncan Jones, and Luke Charteris also absent along with Martyn Williams and Hook the side had a predictable look to it. The Scarlets scrum-half Tavis Knoyle is likely to make his international debut at some stage and is joined by the Ospreys fly-half Dan Biggar and fellow Scarlet Jonathan Davies in providing cover for the backline. “We are playing one of the best sides in the world at the moment on [their] home soil and they don’t come much bigger than this,” said Gatland. “But we are determined and there is a quiet self-belief creeping through the squad at the moment which makes me feel we are capable of producing a performance to be proud of against the All Blacks.” Given that the All Blacks trounced Ireland 66-28 last weekend, that might have sounded unrealistic if only because Wales have not beaten New Zealand in 57 years. However Gatland is relying on a core of experienced players such as Mike Phillips, Stephen Jones, Jamie Roberts, Adam Jones and Ryan Jones to provide an upset at Carisbrook. As from next year’s World Cup, Test rugby at Dunedin will be played indoors at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, and the All Blacks will not be upset to be moving after 102 years. In 2008 they lost 30-28 to South Africa and last year were beaten 27-22 by France. Wales: Byrne (Ospreys); Halfpenny (Cardiff Blues), Bishop (Ospreys), Roberts (Cardiff Blues), Prydie (Ospreys); S Jones (Scarlets), Phillips (Ospreys); James (Ospreys), Rees (Scarlets), A Jones (Ospreys), B Davies (Cardiff Blues), A W Jones (Ospreys), J Thomas (Ospreys), G Thomas (Newport Gwent Dragons), R Jones (Ospreys, capt). Replacements: Bennett (Ospreys), Yapp (Cardiff Blues), D

My Favorite Blues Playlist

I recently realized that I have not yet shared with you any of my favorite blues music.  Blues is one of – if not my favorite – types of music.  As I’ve mentioned before, I occasionally deal with insomnia, and so usually play the blues when I can’t get to sleep at night.  Below I have included some of my favorite blues songs and artists; however, I encourage everyone to explore this genre on your own because there are many, many great artists here to be discovered!  Also, B.B. King’s “The Thrill Is Gone” is one of my top five favorite songs of all time. We’ll be back on the road soon! Click here for the playlist.

Lee Dewyze Supporters Psyched For His Homecoming After Making ‘Idol’ Top Three

Friends, teachers and fans gathered to root Dewyze on in his Illinois hometown Wednesday night. By Gil Kaufman Lee Dewyze fans Photo: Gil Kaufman/ MTV News MT. PROSPECT, Illinois — It’s not that Lee Dewyze’s supporters are feeling cocky, but when they — from his high school principal to the drummer in his band to his old boss at Mt. Prospect Paint — were asked if they’re planning to go to his homecoming parade and rally on Friday, the answer was a resounding, triumphant, “Yes!” And that was days, and hours, before Dewyze got the news on Wednesday night that he would be coming home after making it into the “Idol” top three. When the verdict was finally read, the crowd of 100-plus supporters at the Blues Bar in Mt. Prospect erupted into joyous clapping, shouting, whistles and hugs as they all scrambled to figure out who they needed to call in order to get tickets to Friday night’s big event. “My heart is pounding a hundred miles a minute,” said a teary-eyed Karen Kinnare, who could hardly contain her pride at Dewyze’s success. Her husband, a local general contractor, used to buy paint from Dewyze when the guitar slinger was but a humble paint salesman. And though he’d never seen “Idol” before, when Kinnare was watching auditions earlier this year, her husband came in and yelled, “Hey, that’s my paint guy!” Like just about everywhere MTV News went this week in the area, there were plenty of other people at the bar who knew Lee or his family or who had seen him play at the countless clubs in the area. They packed Blues Bar wearing their bright green “Vote 4 Lee” shirts and pins, waiting breathlessly for host Ryan Seacrest to spill the big news. As they killed time in the Blues Brothers-themed bar, they could buy Lee shirts and buttons — including one that referenced his days as a paint salesman that read “Lee Dewyze Shook My Cans” — as well as copies of his two independently released CDs and delicious homemade cookies imprinted with the “Idol” logo and the plea “Vote for Lee!” from the Central Continental Bakery, which is located just across the street. Bakery owner Marilyn Czerniak said she’s sold more than 5,000 cookies to fans across the country over the past few weeks and proudly showed off a signed photo of Lee holding one of the confections that his mother had brought out to Los Angeles for him. Matt Mika, 25, has known Lee for a while, and like a lot of people in the area, he also had a great story about the “Idol” star’s formative musical years. “The first guitar I’ve ever seen him play was my brother’s guitar in my basement, and that was really one of the first nights he ever played guitar,” said Mika of Dewyze, who didn’t pick up the instrument until he was old enough to drive. “I think he’s going to move on. I don’t think he’s going to have any trouble.” Mika’s friend, mowhawked Mike Musich, 24, who went to high school with Lee, said he was also feeling good about things just before the show kicked off. “Tonight I think it’s going to be the same as usual. I think Lee’s going to coast on through and come home and give us a good show on Friday,” said Musich. Once word broke that Dewyze had made the cut, both men were ecstatic and eager to see their old friend and bask in the glory of his newfound fame. “We’ll be lucky to get two minutes with him,” Mika laughed. Just moments after Dewyze made the cut, Tara Battaglia, 18, was already planning on ditching school on Friday to attend the parade. “I was screaming ‘oh my God,’ I was so excited,” said the teen, who was wearing her bright green “Vote 4 Lee” shirt. “I’m probably not going to go to school on Friday. I’m definitely going to follow him around, go to the Cubs game, watch him throw the first pitch, go to the parade, go to the concert. … I knew he was going to make it.” Her sister, Deanna, 19, was equally excited, but admitted that she got nervous when Seacrest was chatting up the other contestants first. “I was biting my nails, I was so nervous,” she said. “And when they said his name, I screamed and almost fell off my chair.” Earlier in the day, Dr. Patricia Tedaldi-Monti, dean of students at Prospect High School, where Dewyze attended high school before transferring to an alternative school during his senior year, said Lee promised her he’d make it big someday. Surrounded by a variety of Lee-shirts in her office, Tedaldi-Monti recalled the day when the shy teenager who was always tapping out a beat on his desk or leg and playing an imaginary guitar came into her office and told her, “I’m going to be a rock star. “And you [and my other teachers] are going to be in the front row, and I’m going to be playing a really big concert.” She laughed, recalling that she told him, “Well stay in touch, because I’d like to see that really big concert.” And though she counseled him to keep reaching for his dreams while planning for a backup, Lee’s promise is now coming true. “And so, it is going to happen,” she said proudly. “He’s a rock star.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
