Young Jeezy Defends Trap Music’s Negative Connotation Against Critics As Atlanta prepares to “Go Crazy” at Young Jeezy’s TM101 10th anniversary concert, the Snowman took to Instagram to speak to his fans, reflecting on his career, and also play a lil’ defense against his detractors who label his now-ubiquitous “trap music” a glorification of drug dealing and violence. They say you have your whole life to make your first album, and they might be right. Some call it poetry, others call it the ghetto gospel, but the industry calls it “trap music.” Go figure. Either way it’s the voice of the streets, and we all know that when the streets talk, we listen. I find it odd when people use a negative connotation like “trap music,” when the message (lyrics) clearly states: make it out of your surroundings and be the best man and provider you can be. We call that being a boss where I’m from — a self made individual that refuses to let his environment dictate his or her outcome in life. This body of work you see before you is just that. Every experience, every up, down and close call. All the nights that you prayed you could make it to see another day. All the sacrifices you made for friends and loved ones you lost to the street life. I can’t help but to think of all the obstacles I had to dodge and the times I was unsure. But I continued to keep my faith and hustle strong. I kept pushing! When I said that the roaches were in the kitchen, I meant that! So now when I tell you the floors look like bowling balls, I mean that too. You can call it rags to riches, but I like to call it a boy becoming a man and believing in his dreams, goals and expectations. I never thought of “fame” or being accepted in this industry; my only thoughts were to represent and speak for every man, woman and child that was in the struggle and just wanted to make a better way of life, without taking no for an answer. With every song, verse and adlib on this body of work, you can hear that determination, that ambition and that drive in every word. If the album touched you in any way, just know that it was all for you. I’d like to thank my fans and anybody that was a part of my journey. Now, the star delves into her personal struggles and how she hopes to inspire others. This weekend Polanco, 33, will join “The Real” host Adrienne Bailon, plus-sized model Denise Bidot, Roc Nation executive Lenny Santiago and personal trainer Massiel “MankoFit” Arias to discuss beauty and body image within the Latino community. The panel is part of Latina magazine’s first Latina Beauty, Hair & Wellness Expo, which will be held at New Jersey’s Meadowlands Expo Center Saturday and Sunday. Ahead of the panel, the actress spoke to The Huffington Post about her own experiences with body image in Hollywood, as well as the specific struggles Latinas in the United States often face. Peep what she had to say: Why did you decide it was important to be a part of this panel addressing body image? It’s been something that I have struggled with throughout my life and I think that as I’m becoming older and I became a woman and I’ve gone through the phases, I’m learning how to love myself more. I think it’s very important [to talk about it] when you’re in a position of where you are looked upon or onto as a role model or inspiration. Young girls and women, we all need that sense of security and that empowerment, so it’s very important for me to display that. How were you able to overcome the body image issues you struggled with growing up? Well, I don’t think I overcame them. I think that I’m learning how to not make the insecurities a reason for me to not achieve my goals or go for my dreams, aspire to bigger things. I think that I still have those qualities but I am embracing them more and I’m learning to make those differences unique qualities as opposed to negative obstacles or thoughts. Weight has been an issue in my life. My siblings were way thinner and I was always bigger. Family Hires Additional Security For Bobbi Kristina’s Looming Death Bobbi Kristina’s family and friends are gathering to say goodbye to her as she rests in hospice and has been taken off all life aides. In the meantime, to preserve her dignity after death, the family is taking extra precaution to make sure that no one is able to snap intrusive photos on the day her body is eventually removed from the building. Via FoxNews : Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has worsened and she is barely clinging to life, a source close to the family tells FOX411. “She barely has any signs of life, hardly any vitals,” the insider said. “Security has been beefed up and even local law enforcement have been called because the families have been told that death is now imminent and they want to make sure that photographers don’t get pictures of her body being removed.” Brown, 22, was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Atlanta area home on Jan. 31. Last week she was removed from the hospital, taken off all medications and moved to hospice care. Prior to being moved to hospice, Bobbi Kristina was airlifted to specialists in Chicago to get a second opinion on her condition and options for treatment. “They too confirmed what Atlanta doctors had been saying that there was no hope”, the source continued. “That’s when she was taken off all meds and any artificial means of support.” We are told the trip was made to Chicago to convince Bobby Brown that he “truly had done all he could” in helping his daughter. “It seems that he had to get a certain amount of confirmation before really letting go,” the source added. “That trip is what convinced him to allow them to take her off her meds and to ‘go naturally’.” So sad.
