Teen Dies Saving Girlfriend In California Train Accident This is so sad. The young man lost his life trying to save his girlfriend on their way to the Sadie Hawkins dance. According to SF Gate: A Northern California town was reeling Saturday after learning that a teenage boy was killed and a teenage girl was seriously injured after they were hit by a freight train while walking to a Sadie Hawkins Day dance. The accident Friday evening occurred near Marysville’s only high school and a little league park where a game was being played. Investigators told KCRA-TV the teens were walking southbound on the tracks — the same direction as the train. Relatives told the station the 16-year-old girl, Mickayla Friend, and her boyfriend had planned to take a short walk to the Dollar Tree store to buy some food before heading to the dance at their school. “It’s her first boyfriend, and her first love,” Alithya Friend said. “And she just got it taken away from her in an instant.” The boy died at the scene, and the girl was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with traumatic injuries, CalFire Capt. Dennis Hunt said. Friend said her sister remained in critical condition Saturday. People who were at the game said they heard a long blowing of the train’s horn, and many raced to the scene as the train came to a stop. “The engineer was on the horn,” witness Sean Stark said. “Then finally, they both looked back at the same time.” He said the boy made a split second decision. “They would have both been underneath that train if he didn’t push her out of the way at the last second,” Stark said. Black Pastors Launch Petition To Impeach Eric Holder Over Gay Marriage Support Attorney General Eric Holder is the latest in the Obama cabinet to face backlash for not pushing states to enforce laws banning same-sex marriage. via CBS Local A coalition of African-American civil rights leaders and pastors announced a campaign to gather 1 million signatures to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder for attempting to undermine states’ authority to “coerce states to fall in line with same-sex marriage.” Speaking at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, the Coalition of African-American Pastors (CAAP) is calling for Holder’s impeachment for “attempting to impose ‘same-sex marriage’ throughout the nation despite federal law, rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, and state constitutional amendments to the contrary,” reads the online petition. “What we have in Attorney General Holder is a man so political in his zeal to redefine marriage that he is willing to run roughshod over the rulings of the Supreme Court, binging federal law, and the United States Constitution along with the constitutions of a majority of states,” the Rev. Bill Owens, founder and president of CAAP, said in a statement. This comes as Holder announced on Tuesday that state attorney generals are not obligated to defend laws in their states that ban same-sex marriage if they do not believe in such legislation. A million signatures is a pretty tall order and given that the country is all but divided on this debate, we’d be surprised if they reached their goal.
Google Protests Russia Anti-Gay Law With Rainbow Search Page Google just scored some major points with GLAAD here!! Google has made clear its stance on the Russian anti-gay law marring the Sochi Olympic Games by giving its search page a rainbow makeover — and a link to the part of the Olympic charter that bans “discrimination of any kind.” The law, which prohibits “homosexual propaganda,” among other things, has drawn criticism from human rights groups, gay-friendly businesses, and governments throughout the world. And as the games begin, there’s even dissent from partners: AT&T was among the first sponsors of the US Olympic Committee to officially object to the laws (Chobani and DeVry University also spoke out), and now Google is showing their true colors as well — literally. Google’s new front page Thursday, visible internationally and including Google.ru, shows athletes superimposed over a rainbow, a well-known symbol of gay pride. Below the search box is an excerpt from the official Olympic Charter: “The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.” If there was any doubt what side the world’s most visible Internet company was on in this debate, this should clear it up. We knew he was black from the terminology used by the reporters and police (A Big Linebacker Looking Violent Man?), the fact he was NOT negotiated with, and the fact they shot him without even being armed. Dozens of people crammed into a tiny room in Lake Worth Thursday night to share their love for Anneson Joseph, the man shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies Monday night. Most of the time they don’t shoot white people so easily, but black folks get shot over something white guys would be normally beaten into submission for. Last week, we put up a story about a white kid stabbing a police dog, stabbing a police officer, and STILL was not shot. We have a childhood friend who stood 5’2″ and he was shot for holding scissors. NDN
This young girl in this video is the epitome of an angry bird. It’s sad that she thinks cursing in that manner is the norm. It shows a lot about her upbringing. Famous last words… A senate aide who took his own life after being arrested for the inappropriate videos and photos of children he had in his possession blames his own child sex abuse experience for his unhealthy interests. According to NY Daily News reports : The former U.S. Senate aide who committed suicide after being arrested on child pornography charges last month was sexually abused as a child according to a newly released suicide note. In the tell-all letter that claims to have been written by Ryan Loskarn before his death, the 35-year-old apologizes for his “painful and humiliating” crimes and reveals that his own sexual abuse began at the age of 5. “I owe many, many people an explanation — if that’s even possible — and that’s why I’ve written this letter,” the letter posted online begins. “I found myself drawn to videos that matched my own childhood abuse,” the letter reads. “It’s painful and humiliating to admit to myself, let alone the whole world, but I pictured myself as a child in the image or video.” Loskarn, who served as chief of staff to Sen. Lamar Alexander, allegedly tells that the first time he saw child pornography was purely by accident — while searching for online music for downloading. Somehow it resonated with him and he distorted his mind into believing that as a boy, the abuse he experienced was exactly what he wanted to have done to him. “This is my deepest, darkest secret,” the letter reads. Loskam claims that he only told three friends in his life about what happened to him, “and then fleetingly so.” In the letter he never names the person who abused him. Loskarn, who was found dead in his parents’ home on January 23, was arrested following a raid on his Washington, D.C. home on December 11. That same day he was fired from his coveted Capitol Hill position. Officers said they found 200 child-porn videos on a hard drive he tried to hide by placing it outside his window. Prosecutors said there was evidence that he additionally purchased DVDs containing child pornography between November 2010 and March 2011. When Loskarn was thrown into a jail cell, he was placed on suicide watch and met with a mental health professional that he opened up to about his crime and how it had affected others, according to his letter. But what he didn’t tell the professional was the abuse he endured as a child. “I didn’t think it mattered because I intended to kill myself as soon as possible,” he wrote. “But I’m sharing this with you because it is the truth, not an excuse. And I believe it played a role in my story.” Loskam apologized to his family, his friends and colleagues on Capitol Hill.
