The Language of Love: How Miscommunication Leads to Complication

You may have heard of a little book called Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus . In the popular self-help book, relationship counselor John Gray focuses on the differences between men and women and provides some insight on the fact that women and men communicate and function differently in relationships. He proposes instead of constantly battling the urge to change one another we should accept our differences in order to develop healthy relationships. Whether you loved, hated or even read the book, John Gray does a decent job of pointing out that miscommunication usually occurs when partners in a relationship say one thing, but it is interpreted incorrectly. “We mistakenly assume that if our partners love us they will react and behave in certain ways…the ways we react and behave when we love someone,” he writes. It actually boils down to biology at its basic level. Genders think and express themselves differently, partially because our brains are built differently. Women say about 25,000 words a day; men only say about half that amount. Women are naturally better communicators. We can articulate exactly what we’re feeling in order to convey a clear message. For example, if a woman is upset about the fact that her man was late, there is no hesitation in saying, “When you’re late it makes me feel like you have no respect for my feelings or priorities.” If a guy is upset because you were late, it may come out like, “It took you that long to do THAT to your hair?” We all know the inferno that follows that comment. Men better express themselves through action, they are natural showmen. Instead of apologizing for disrespecting the effort it actually took to make your chignon look effortless, he’ll send flowers or let you have the last Oreo that he’s craving. Take a look at some quick tips that follow in the style of John Gray’s approach to understanding all of the simple misinterpretations that make our relationships unnecessarily complicated… ( Continue reading )

Dirty Dog Diaries: Ex-Wife Of Pro Golfer John Daly Says His Skanky Ways Put Tiger To Shame

Well well well… it turns out that Tiger wasn’t doing anything different than the other good ol’ boys in golf. John Daly’s ex-wife Sherrie Daly is dropping all kinds of bombs in her new book, and it looks like cheap tricks abound on the PGA tour. Sherrie Daly, the fourth wife of former pro golfer John Daly, claims her unfaithful husband’s antics would make Tiger Woods look like a saint. In her memoir, “Teed Off: My Life as a Player’s Wife on the PGA Tour,” Sherrie exposes the tour’s temptations including the “Secret of the Sixteenth Hole” — a woman she claims offered sexual favors at Southwind golf course in Memphis, Tenn. The Dalys were married for nine years until 2010. But the golfer had a history of alcohol abuse, gambling problems and infidelity. “Little did I know that being a golf wife would mean fighting off strippers who think it’s OK to be out on the golf course without any clothes on,” Sherrie writes. In the book, she says of Southwind: “I’d been told by many men in Memphis, including my banker, that there was a girl who’d give golfers [oral sex] when they got to the sixteenth hole . . . Apparently, all they had to do was pay $300 when they got there, and she’d take them into the bushes.” But she got fed up when Hooters sponsored her husband’s tour, showed up at a Tampa course and set up a tent on the seventeenth hole. She writes, “There were all these Hooters girls with their t – – – – – s flopping around everywhere, holding up these signs and screaming for John. It was just nasty.” After finding John in bed with another woman and finding X-rated pictures of her, “I went through every phone number [the woman] had in it, whether it was her boss . . . or her parents. And I sent them the picture of her coochie with a note that went something like this: ‘This is the vagina of the woman I just found in bed with my husband.’ “ Sherrie herself had her share of troubles –John accused her of attacking him with a steak knife in 2007, and she was locked up for five months on a money-laundering charge. This Sherrie chick is real gangster… money laundering, stabbings and email blasting naked pics of the skanky hoes her husband cheated with. We like her! We’re thinking that steak knife probably had something to do with the infidelity… Source

Don’t Look Now, But That’s Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland Schtupping

According to the new book Infamous Players: A Tale of Movies, the Mob, (and Sex), Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland weren’t just showing off their acting chops when they got down and dirty in the supernatural thriller Don’t Look Now(1973) . The book’s author, Peter Bart, who was a Paramount executive at the time, visited Don’t Look Now ‘s Venice set on the day the sexy scene was filmed. Bart’s attention was briefly distracted as filming began, and when he looked back, both Christie and Sutherland were completely naked and no longer playing pretend: “It was clear to me they were no longer simply acting: they were f*cking on camera,” Bart writes in his book. According to Bart, a few months later a furious Warren Beatty , who was dating Christie at the time, stormed into Bart’s office demanding that the scene be cut. He had seen director Nicholas Roeg ‘s cut of the film, which was so graphic that Julie’s juice box was clearly visible. “I want to cut the movie with you, p*ssy hair by p*ssy hair…” Beatty reportedly told Bart. Elizabeth Berkley’s ‘Ask Elizabeth’ Book Tells Girls They’re ‘Not Alone’

‘I think this was, honestly, the perfect time to write this book,’ the ‘Saved by the Bell’ alum tells MTV News. By Patrick Hester, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Elizabeth Berkley’s “Ask Elizabeth” Photo: Rogers & Cowan/Penguin Books Elizabeth Berkley told MTV News it’s “the perfect time” for her latest project, “Ask Elizabeth,” a self-help book for teenage girls that dropped Tuesday (March 21). The book is an expansion of her website of the same name launched back in 2006. Berkley, who has been married to actor Greg Lauren since 2008, started the venture after her husband mentioned the amount of teen girls coming up to her for advice. “I think this was, honestly, the perfect time to write this book, because as we all know, in the media, for years now, people have been talking about the issues with our teen girls, but no one has really been talking about how to help our girls,” the actress told MTV News. “I think now more than ever, there’s a great need. The ability to know that they’re not alone, and other girls are going through it too and how they can help each other.” The “Showgirls” actress also mentions that good relationships between girls are important, saying that “friendship is a really big core part of the book, because I know for girls … friendships run so deep and I know that girls identify themselves some much by the group of friends they hang out with.” When Berkley played Jessie Spano on the ’90s hit “Saved by the Bell,” friendship was a big theme of the show. But while she still gets approached by fans who want her to re-create the now-famous “I’m so excited, I’m so excited, I’m so … scared” scene from “Saved by the Bell,” she said that period of her life isn’t addressed in “Ask Elizabeth.” “I don’t talk about the ‘Saved by the Bell’ time in the book,” she said. “I talk about other periods in my professional life, but more having to do with me now as a woman.” Will you buy Elizabeth Berkeley’s new book? Emily Browning Talks Auditioning For ‘Hunger Games’

‘Sucker Punch’ star also opens up about declining ‘Twilight’ audition. By Terri Schwartz Emily Browning Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The role might have recently gone to Jennifer Lawrence , but there was a point in time when “Sucker Punch” star Emily Browning might have played District 12 champion Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming Lionsgate adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” “I read for [‘Hunger Games’] a couple of times, but I’ve never read the book, to be honest — which I know is terrible of me,” Browning said in an interview with the Playlist . “I was nervous about it.” Despite the fact Browning started out her acting career as one of the leads in an adaptation of a popular children’s series, it was that experience that turned her off from moving on to starring in the young-adult genre. She admitted that there was a period of time between when she filmed 2004’s “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” and when she agreed to come onboard Friday’s “Sucker Punch” that she seriously considered quitting acting altogether. It was during that time that she found out “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer said she would be the perfect Bella Swan for the upcoming adaptation of the novel, but Browning wasn’t ready to commit to a franchise. “I was just exhausted, and I was like, ‘I’m sorry, but I just can’t sign onto a trilogy right now,’ ” Browning told MTV News in 2009, after she finished “The Uninvited.” “To be honest, if I had gone on to do the film straight after ‘The Uninvited,’ I would not have been a good Bella . and I’m hoping people realize that now.” But it was the fact that she was vilified for reportedly turning down the “Twilight” role that caused Browning to remain so hush-hush about trying out for “Hunger Games.” “It’s always hard for me to talk about these kinds of things, because I know there was a big deal with ‘Twilight’ and my involvement with people wanting me to do ‘Twilight,’ so I’m always like, ‘Oh, people love this book so much, I don’t want to get involved, I don’t want to talk about it!’ ” Browning explained. “I read for [‘Hunger Games’] a couple of times, but I think every single girl in Hollywood read for it a couple of times, to be honest.” Would you have liked to see Emily Browning play Katniss Everdeen or Bella Swan?
