You may have forgotten about this — lucky you! — but in 2014, Kendall and Kylie Jenner released a sci-fi novel. No, really, they did. The book was given the catchy little title of Rebels: City of Indra, The Story of Lex and Livia. It was a dystopian YA story, and Kendall and Kylie totally wrote pretty much the whole thing themselves. Totally . But it’s been over two years now since the book was released, and people are clamoring for more (or whatever). We heard about the release of a sequel back in May, but now we have more details. And we also have a pretty cool cover: The book is called Time of The Twins, obviously, and it will be released on November 15th. That’s right — just one month from tomorrow, you could have this treasured tome in your very hands. The book was written with the help of two ghostwriters: one who also worked on Rebels, City of Indra, and one who is new to the series. Not that any of that matters, because they’re just ghostwriters. Check out those names on the cover, you’ll see who the real creative masterminds are here. Seriously though, do Kendall and Kylie really think they’re fooling anyone ? Do they think anyone actually believes that they wrote even a sentence in either of these books? For a few years now, dystopian teen novels have been super popular, thanks to bestsellers like The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent, etc. These books are just Kendall and Kylie’s attempt to cash in on that. It’s fine, we congratulate them on their hustle, but let’s just call it like it is here. Still though, the littlest Kardashians have been trying their best to portray themselves as authors. In a statement that accompanied the original news of their new book, Kendall said “We love this world and these characters. It’s been so fun to tell their story and we are excited to share it with our fans.” Sure, girls. Sure.
Tatyana Ali and her husband Dr. Vaughn Rasberry are celebrating the birth of their first son just months after they tied the knot on July 16th. Earlier in her pregnancy, Ali spoke to People about the excitement and mysteries of motherhood. “We’re reading the books, imagining, dreaming out loud,” she said in April. “A lot of just wondering who this person […]
Dancing with the Stars’ second episode of the 23rd season is in the books, and for some couples, there are already reasons for concern. Tension was high and security on high alert as Dancing with the Stars Season 23 Episode 2 got underway on the ABC Television Network. The scores and votes from this episode would be combined with last week to determine who will be the first couple to go home next week. Make sense? Fortunately, any protests were limited to the scoreboard, as Ryan Lochte performed without incident and Laurie Hernandez just dominated. The gymnast revealed in a pre-performance video that she had two dreams in life, to be in Olympics and to be on Dancing With the Stars. Yes, really. The teenager fulfilled that dream by performing a jive to the theme song from Duck Tales (Woo-oo!) even though she’d never seen it. Thirty-somethings everywhere are feeling so over the hill right now. In any case, with Val as Scrooge McDuck, they scored 32 points. Good for first place, BTW. One point behind were Terra Jole and Sasha Farber, with a quickstep to Bewitched that Julianne Hough said was made for the reality star. Bruno Tonioli said it was the most “complete and rounded quickstep” they had seen, so it’s hard to do much better than that for praise. In third place were Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Allison Holker, with an Argentine tango set to the X-Files theme song. Very creative! View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars Season 23: Cast Announced! On the other end of the spectrum? Rick Perry. He just cannot dance. Fortunately for the former Texas Governor, he’s aware of this and in on the joke as far as what a joke it is that he’s even out there. Unfortunately … 22 points. That would be dead last, but with four other couples tied at 24, perhaps he has a chance to out-poll one of them and stick around? If only for a week or two? Amber Rose Goes All Game of Thrones on Dancing with the Stars At 24 were Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev, Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Jake T. Austin and Jenna Johnson. Joining them was last week’s man of the protesting hour, Ryan Lochte, and his partner Cheryl Burke, who got through it without incident. That’s the good news. The bad news? That it simply wasn’t good from a technical standpoint, at all, and the scoreboard doesn’t lie. With the top and bottom tiers clearly established, we have everyone else pretty much bunched up in the middle trying to stay competitive. View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars: Who Will Win? Will James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess, Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko, or Vanilla Ice and Witney Carson be able to step it up? Will Megatron himself, Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold, take it to the next level? Or will Marilu Henner and Derek Hough make a run? When you watch Dancing with the Stars online, you’ll see that they gave performances that were decent but not particularly memorable. Good enough to survive on next week’s results show? Most likely. But unlikely to take them to the finals without some real improvement. Who’s your pick this year?! View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars: All the Winners!
Shana Mangatal has a lot to say about Michael Jackson. And she swears it all comes from first-hand experience. The 46-year old has penned a book titled “Michael and Me: The Untold Story of Michael Jackson’s Secret Romance” in which she attempts to end certain rumors about the artist’s private life. Specifically, Mangatal says she knew Jackson intimately. She claims she slept with him on numerous occasions and that the iconic singer was very strongly into women. There has been chatter over the years, of course, regarding Jackson’s sexuality and whether he was actually attracted to the opposite gender. Mangatal says she met MJ in 1988, shared her first kiss with him at the age of 26 and slept with him several times in the summer of 1996. She also kept diaries of their experiences together. “After he passed away, it was really difficult for me to look at his pictures, watch his music videos or even listen to his music, so I definitely couldn’t read those diaries, until about, I’d say, a year or two ago, when I finally got the strength to do it,” Mangatal says . Jackson, of course, died in 2009 at the age of 50 from “ acute propofol intoxication .” Mangatal says her intent in publishing this book and including with it excerpts from her diary is so the public can think a “little bit differently about Michael and have a different perspective on him.” For example? “Anyone that I talk to, most of them believe that he was asexual, and I tell them no,” Mangatal explains . “All you have to do is spend five minutes with him, and you know instantly that he was not asexual. “He was quite the opposite, because he was extremely flirtatious – he was always flirting with me, at least. He could flip any conversation into something flirty. “From the very first day that I met him [as a fan] at the afterparty for his concert in New York, he was flirting with me… And from then on, I knew that there was more to him than meets the eye, because it was clear that he loved the ladies. “And he couldn’t hide it. Even if he tried to be child-like and innocent, he had that manly, macho thing in him that made him the flirtatious, sexy guy in real life.” Jackson was also accused through the years of molestation. Multiple lawsuits were brought against the singer that alleged he slept in the same bed as little children and touched them inappropriately. Mangatal scoffs at this notion. “When you were with Michael, and you saw him with kids, you saw the relationship, and it was just so pure and innocent,” she says. “It was really a wonderful thing to see, because … he became like a kid when he was with them. He was like a peer to them. So it was never like he was this adult preying on the children. “He was literally one of them. He loved playing what they loved to do, which was play video games, watch cartoons, talk about girls even.” This is the second time Mangatal has spoken out against accusations that Jackson was a child molester. She told Radar Online that numerous parents wanted their children to spend all this time with the legendary artist and he did not want to disappoint anybody. “His problem was that he couldn’t say no to anybody – especially kids,” she said this spring. “He was just so sweet and kind. He could never say no and when he finally did, parents would become upset.” Shana Mangatal now works as an actress and talent manager. Her book went on sale yesterday. Along with these personal tidbit, she also writes that Jackson was a master in marketing. When it came to his professional life, for example, Mangatal says Jackson was the person who came up with his nickname, the King of Pop. He insisted that others refer to him that way at awards shows or on MTV for a very specific reason: branding. Here is how Amazon describes her MJ-themed memoir: During her seven years working for Michael’s personal manager during the prolific period of the 1990s, Shana witnessed the scandals and the lawsuits, the release of groundbreaking albums and the subsequent world tours, the making of big-budget short films, and the addictions. It was through this business relationship that their trust and love for each other grew. Shana kept a meticulous diary throughout it all. Her story is rich with every little detail. Will you purchase it? Michael Jackson would have been 58 years old yesterday.
As longtime Game of Thrones fans know, the penultimate episode of any season can usually be counted on to deliver in the dramatic fireworks department, and Sunday night's installment promises to be no different. In fact, after two weeks of what often felt like place-setting episodes, the alliances are set, the sides have been chose, and “Battle of the Bastards” is poised to hit us with what sure to be one of the show's most epic and game-changing clashes to date. As usual, supposed spoilers abound in all corners of the Internet, but no one really knows what will happen when Jon Snow attempts to take back Winterfell from the demented Ramsay Bolton. So here's a quick rundown of what we can expect based on the books, the information released by HBO thus far, and the personal histories of two very different motherless warriors. (As always, you can watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic if you need to get caught up.) We'll start with the chief combatants: 1. Jon Snow The Bastard of Winterfell, the former Lord Commandor of the Night’s Watch, the Dashing Undead. His ex used to tell him he knew nothing, but after surviving battles like the ones we saw in “The Watchers on the Wall” and Hardhome” this revenant knows everything about waging war … especially on his home turf. 2. Ramsay Bolton The Bastard of Bolton, the Flayer of Men, the Eater of Suggestive Sausages. Ramsay may not know Winterfell as well as Jon and Sansa (who grew up there), but he’s a proven military leader, and he certainly has the edge in the sadism department. 3. What Are the Odds? There’s no way both bastards are getting out of this thing alive. Vegas bookmakers are giving 1/3 odds that Ramsay will bite the dust. Jon, the clear favorite, is at 9/1. After all, this season started off with Jon as a corpse. They’re not gonna kill him off again THAT quickly. 4. How Big Are the Armies? Ramsay has over 5,000 men, while Jon (with help from Sansa and Ser Davos) managed to round up a rag-tag bunch of just 2,000. But hey, we hear those 62 from Bear Island can fight like ten men! 5. What Happens if the Starks Win? They recapture Winterfell, unseat Ramsay as Warden of the North and probably kill him. They free Rickon Stark and set set up shop in the castle Jon and Sansa grew up in as their new base of operations. We learned last week that Arya is also headed home to Winterfell, and you can that would be one tearjerker of a family reunion. 6. What’s at Stake? Winterfeeeeeell! The Stark family home where Robert Baratheon asked Ned Stark to be the Hand of the King, and Jaime Lannister pushed Bran from a window so many years ago. Add to that the fact that Ramsay raped and tormented Sansa during their brief marriage and the fact that the Boltons are partially responsible for the Red Wedding, and you can see what sort of emotions are involved. In a way, the show has building to the Starks’ return to Winterfell ever since, so there’s definitely more than just a castle in play here. View Slideshow
