Disappointed That The Celtics Lost Game 6? Blame Dane Cook

Some people in life just have a tendency to make people hate them. Comedian Dane Cook is one such person. So when he showed up with a gorgeous model as his date to Game 5 of the Celtics-Lakers series, we had all the ammo we needed. But now we come to find out the model in question was distracting the Celtics players? From the Boston Herald : Cook told us … that the woman in question is Jessica Caban, an aspiring actress and a former Miss Model Latina, whom he’s been dating for a few months. “It’s casual,” said the comedian, who looked rather proud. “I actually saw some of the guys looking at her,” Cook laughed. “And I thought, if they lose this game, I’m gonna get blamed.” And sure, this happened in Game 5, which the Celtics won, so it’s tough to blame Dane Cook and his “distraction” for the Celtics woes in L.A. two days later. But, “It’s casual,” he said, looking rather proud. What an unremitting douche. For my money, anything bad that happens, ever, should be blamed on Dane Cook. And Jessica. Jessica, Jessica, Jessica. Go rent Employee of the Month . You can do better.

Celtics’ Big 3 may be making last stand (AP)

Two NBA finals meetings in three years used to mean the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers were just getting warmed up. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson did this three times from 1984-87. Boston won all three when the teams squared off in 1962, ’63 and ’65; and repeated the feat three times in four years at the end of that decade.

Christina Aguilera Sings NBA Finals National Anthem, Celebs Cheer Lakers to Victory

Her new album failed to land at the top of the charts during its first week of release, but Christina Aguilera still felt like a winner last night. That’s because the singer opened Game Six of the NBA Finals with a rousing rendition of the national anthem and then sat courtside as the Los Angeles Lakers pummeled the Boston Celtics 89-67, setting up a decisive Game Seven for the title tomorrow night. Watch Xtina show off her vocal range now: NBA Finals Anthem Aguilera wasn’t the only celebrity at the game. As usual, the crowd was filled with more famous faces than Katsuya on a Saturday night. The most surprising sighting? Michelle Obama and will.i.am sharing a corporate box. While we try to come up with ways to taunt and jink Mr. Khloe Kardashian before Game Seven, take a look below at who else took in the contest:

For Criticizing Obama, Barnicle ‘Castrated’ By Mika

Guess Mike could always get a gig with the Vienna Boys Choir . . . If MSNBC libs like Olbermann and Matthews were surprisingly critical of Pres. Obama’s speech last night, PBO can apparently count on one defender at the network: Mika Brzezinski.   So fiercely did Brzezinski go after Mike Barnicle on Morning Joe today for his criticism of the speech, that the panel agreed poor Mike had been “emasculated.”  Joe Scarborough took it a graphic step further, saying Mika had “castrated” the former Boston Globe columnist. All while protesting his “love” for the president, Barnicle did offer some stock criticism, saying PBO hadn’t been specific enough in addressing “the plight of ordinary Americans.”  That set Mika off.  Accusing him of speaking “drivel,” she continued her attack, heartfelt anger in her voice . . . MIKA BRZEZINSKI: My point is that it just seems that he can’t do anything right. And here he is, setting the path that you’re talking about, and now you’re criticizing it for it not being enough. And if he went out there and read like an encyclopedia, you guys would be saying [imitates male voice] “he’s a professor, it’s too much information.” Please.  Please. Seriously. It’s enough.  This is just drivel. I mean, come on: do you hear yourselves? Do you all hear yourselves?  It’s so knee-jerk. A bit later, the panel commented on poor Barnicle’s plight. JOE SCARBOROUGH: She tore you up. WILLIE GEIST: She tore you up. BRZEZINSKI: I haven’t even begun. SCARBOROUGH: She castrated you. Put the scalpel away! BRZEZINSKI: Would you stop? GEIST: That was downright mean. BRZEZINSKI: This is a morning show, and that is not acceptable.  That’s just wrong. SCARBOROUGH: Tina [Brown], was Barnicle not emasculated by Mika? TINA BROWN: Completely emasculated.  I mean, the guy is . . . SCARBOROUGH: It’s the end of men. BROWN: The end of men.  I’ve been holding his hand in the breaks here. GEIST: He’s been weeping quietly. SCARBOROUGH: Quivering.

Brown Rice Instead of White Rice May Lower Diabetes Risk

By Denise Mann, Health.com June 14, 2010 4:20 p.m. EDT Researchers note that brown rice intake was associated with “a more health-conscious lifestyle” and diet. (Health.com) — The next time you order Chinese food or need a side dish to serve with dinner, you're better off choosing brown rice instead of white. Eating more brown rice and cutting back on white rice may reduce your risk of diabetes, a new study reports. “People at risk of diabetes should pay attention to carbohydrates in their diet and replace refined carbohydrates with whole grains,” says the lead author of the study, Dr. Qi Sun, M.D., a nutrition researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health, in Boston, Massachusetts. If you eat a little more than two servings of white rice (about 12 ounces) per week, switching to brown rice will lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 16 percent, Sun and his colleagues estimate. And if you replace those servings of white rice with whole grains in general, they estimate, your diabetes risk will decline even further, by 36 percent. White rice is produced by removing the husk-like outer layers of brown rice. Those discarded layers contain nutrients (such as magnesium and insoluble fiber) that have been shown to guard against diabetes, which may in part explain the study's findings, Sun says. White rice may also contribute to diabetes risk because it causes blood-sugar levels to rise more rapidly than brown rice does. (This is known as having a higher glycemic index.) Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body loses its sensitivity to insulin, a hormone that helps convert blood sugar (glucose) into energy. The result is that blood sugar, which is toxic at high levels, can creep into the danger zone. Eating lots of foods with a high glycemic index– such as refined carbohydrates– has been linked to diabetes risk in the past. “White rice is digested much faster and converted into sugar in your blood much quicker, so your body puts out a lot more insulin in response to white rice,” says Alissa Rumsey, R.D., a nutritionist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, in New York City. “Whole grains like brown rice are broken down into glucose a lot slower.” In the study, which is published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, Sun and his colleagues analyzed survey data from nearly 200,000 nurses and health professionals who participated in three long-running studies. Roughly 5 percent of the participants were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during the studies, which lasted from 14 to 22 years. People who ate five servings or more of white rice per week had a 17 increased risk of developing diabetes compared to those who ate little or no white rice, the researchers found. On the other hand, people who ate at least two servings of brown rice had an 11 lower risk of diabetes compared with those who ate barely any brown rice. Although the researchers controlled for a number of diet and lifestyle factors (such as red meat intake, smoking, and physical activity), it's possible that the findings partly reflect the type of people who tend to prefer white versus brown rice. For instance, the researchers note that brown rice intake was associated with “a more health-conscious lifestyle” and diet. People who ate the most brown rice tended to be more physically active, were slimmer, and ate more whole grains, while they were less likely to smoke or have a family history of diabetes. Indeed, though brown rice is more nutritious than white rice, the study doesn't necessarily prove that white rice will contribute to diabetes, says Dr. Loren Wissner Greene, M.D., a clinical associate professor of medicine at New York University's Langone Medical Center, in New York City. “More brown rice is helpful because it is higher in fiber and that may protect against diabetes, but white rice may not increase the risk,” Greene says. At least half of your daily grain intake should be whole grains, Rumsey says. “Look for brown foods such as whole-wheat bread, whole-wheat wraps, or whole-grain or blended pastas,” she suggests. “There are a lot of whole grains– such as barley, bulgur, oatmeal, and quinoa– that are easy to cook with.” Check ingredients and nutrition labels when food shopping, Rumsey says. The first ingredient should say “whole grain” or “whole wheat,” and the foods should have at least 3 grams of fiber per serving. “Whole grains have so much more fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein, so you get a lot more nutritional bang for your buck than with refined carbohydrates like white rice or white bread,” she says. http://www.ogiimpex.com/images/content_pic/brown_rice.jpg added by: EthicalVegan

Liberal Website Starts Rumor Sarah Palin Has Breast Implants

The most recent symptom of Palin Derangement Syndrome has now been discovered in media members: speculating on whether or not the former Alaska governor has purchased breast implants. The rumor started Tuesday on the liberal website Wonkette in a posting entitled, “Did Sarah Palin Buy Herself a Couple of Luxury Items?” “We got a political news tip on our Facebook page from Wonkette operative ‘Laura,'” the piece began. “And, having just now checked our tipster’s hunch with another woman (also, coincidentally, named ‘Laura’), we can report with confidence that at least two people with experience in having breasts say that Sarah Palin sure looks like she was trotting out some new work at the horse races on Sunday.” Taking the bait was the Boston Herald Wednesday (h/t NBer Rusty Weiss, photo courtesy Reuters): Hey Sarah Palin, I can see your cleavage from my house! Alaska’s former governor sported more Northern Exposure than usual at the Belmont Stakes race this weekend, sending the blogosphere into a tizzy, wondering whether Palin is exercising a woman’s right to (bigger) boobs. The Toronto Sun also swallowed the hook:  Has Sarah Palin added to her assets? Rumours are swirling on the Internet that the former U.S. vice president candidate and Alaska governor has gotten breast implants recently. Numerous websites have of course followed suit. So what got all this started? The following picture taken by a Reuters photographer on Saturday: So some Wonkette reader sees a picture of Palin, sends a tip to that website’s Facebook page saying it looks like the former Governor has gotten breast implants, and the rest is history. The only question remaining is when the rest of the Palin haters in the media will jump on this story. Stay tuned.

Boston ended Lakers’ 9-0 home court streak in the playoffs, series now tied at 1-1

Series is now tied at 1-1, Rajon Rondo did everything on the court while Ray Allen fired basket after basket around the 3 point area. Allen scored game the high with 32 points, displaying his prowess in 3 point shooting. Hitting 8 out of 11 from beyond the three point line. Rajon Rondo finished the game with a triple-double 19 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds to end Lakers’ 9-0 home games winning streak in the post-season. “An entire team effort,” Rondo said. “Ray carried us through the first half. Second half, we got in a little slump but we stuck with it, stayed together and got a victory.” Kobe Bryant had 21 points and his playing minutes were just limited to 34 minutes due to foul trouble. He got his fifth personal foul at the start of fourth quarter. Pau Gasol had 25 points and grabbed eight boards for the Lakers, and Andrew Bynum added 21 points with 7 blocks. Boston’s dynamic guards dictated the tempo of the game, making the Lakers lose their first home loss throughout the post-season. The game tied 11 times throughout the game, and lead changed 22 times down the stretch. Rondo’s layup at the 3:20 mark in the fourth period changed the complexion of the game. That layup gave Celtics a boost that made them pull away. Kevin Garnett then hit a jumper after another possession of sticky defense. Rajon Rondo hit another jumper to give Celtics a 5 point lead, 95-90. Lakers fell short down the stretch. This game is tough to swallow for the Lakers after coming in with all the momentum following a decisive victory in Game 1 Thursday. “Everyone was just pissed off,” said Bynum of the atmosphere in the locker room following the Lakers first home loss this postseason. “The coaching staff told us that this might be the last time we play here. I think that woke everybody up.” The defending champs will now have to make their adjustments as they head on the road. This postseason, the Lakers sport a 4-4 road record. They need to steal one road game to atleast even up the series. Games 3 and 4 will be in Boston. And return home in Game 5. “There’s no doubt it’s a blow to use to lose the homecourt,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “But we anticipated this might happen, and we’re just going to have to go pick it up.” Game 3 will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 9PM ET at TD Garden, Boston, MA More Info..
