VIDEO: Alice Cooper Invites Johnny Depp Onstage to Perform in London

Welcome to My Nightmare on Elm Street. Alice Cooper tweeted that a surprise guest would be joining him onstage at London’s 100 Club on Sunday night, but attendees probably didn’t guess that the mystery shredder was a star of, say, Finding Neverland . Yes, Johnny Depp joined the ghoulish, golfing legend, and he even wore a bulky rock ‘n roll vest to get into character. It’s cute to watch. And Alice? Is still the greatest hard rock legend and Shelley Duvall drag artist in history.

Friday Box Office: Cars 2 Speeds to $25.7 Million

Critics may have only found Cars 2 to be marginally better than Hop (at least judging from the two films’ Rotten Tomatoes scores), but that doesn’t mean audiences felt the same way. The Pixar sequel rushed to $25.7 million on Friday night — well ahead of tracking expectations — and could wind up with the second-biggest opening weekend in the history of the brand, behind only Toy Story 3 . In other surprising box office news: Bad Teacher also exceeded expectations — and how! With a $12 million Friday night, the Cameron Diaz-led comedy could beat the opening weekend of fellow R-rated girl comedy Bridesmaids , quality be damned. Your Friday box office is here.

Rio might have flown away with number one, but the real stories of the weekend box-office might be a pair of films that didn’t even make the top 10. And if their companies’ reactions are any indication, they are not done yet. But is this really just about the money?

Friday Box Office: Hall Pass Wins A Tepid #1; Drive Angry Goes Off The Cliff

While everyone gets ready for a dose of Hollywood glamor at the Oscars this weekend, old-fashioned gross-out kings Peter & Bobby Farrelly ruled the box office as their horny man-child comedy Hall Pass weakly won Friday night. Ass-kicking Liam Neeson dropped down to number two, and speaking of number two, Nicolas Cage’s Drive Angry opened in ninth place. Your Friday box office is here.

Get to Girl Crushing on No Strings Attached Scribe Elizabeth Meriwether

First-time screenwriter Elizabeth Meriwether had already earned fans among the New York art-kid scene with plays like Heddatron (Hedda Gabler meets – what else? – robots), but it was a television pilot entitled Sluts that got her on the fast track to a Hollywood screenwriting career. Sluts didn’t get picked up, but it did bring her to the attention of filmmaker Ivan Reitman, who threw out an idea for her to expand into a script. The resulting F*ckbuddies hit the Black List and turned into last weekend’s box office topper No Strings Attached – not a bad way to make your Hollywood screenwriting debut.
