Game ‘Putting On Boxing Gloves,’ Producer Mars Says

The R.E.D. Album follow-up ‘coming along crazy,’ 1500 or Nothin’ producer tells Mixtape Daily . By Alvin Blanco La Mar “Mars” Edwards Photo: Victor Decolongon/ Getty Images Behind the Beats: Mars Don’t let his relatively young age fool you: La Mar “Mars” Edwards is already an accomplished production veteran at only 26 years old. The California native’s production discography includes placements with A-list clients like Kanye West , Snoop Dogg and Chris Brown , to name a few. Mars and some fellow church musicians started a band and officially formed 1500 or Nothin’ , now a conglomerate of sought-after songwriters and producers, shortly after high school. Mars linked up with T.I., who was looking to work on his own production craft, around 2004. “We had the same attorney,” Mars told Mixtape Daily about T.I. “Tip always did beats, but he didn’t have time to do it while he’s rapping and doing business stuff, so he talked to my attorney about finding somebody that could help him form a company and produce with him as well as somebody he could learn from and possibly teach some things to. It was a no brainer for my attorney. “I got out there [to Atlanta] on the next plane smoking that day. Ever since then, he treated me like a brother,” Mars continued. “He’ll call me to talk about life. It’s more to it than me being his production partner and having Smash Factory.” T.I. and Mars, along with Lil C, formed the Smash Factory in 2005. The production team has since hooked up tracks including Nelly’s “She’s So Fly” and T.I.’s “I Can’t Help It.” While Tip has been incarcerated, Mars has asserted himself, most recently by earning an executive producer credit, alongside the likes of Dr. Dre, on Game’s just-released The R.E.D. Album . Although he produced a good chunk of the album — including the Tyler, the Creator- and Lil Wayne-assisted “Martians vs. Goblins” and “California Dream” — he was still surprised about the distinction. Mars said the Compton rapper granted him the executive producer nod because “[Game] seeing that it wasn’t about trying to get however many songs or just going up there and sending beats and just leave like other producers would.” “I just wanted to be there every day to make sure there’s input,” he added. “Even if it was songs I didn’t produce, I made sure I was vocal about it. He respected different things I would suggest.” Mars continued, “We’d been working on The R.E.D. Album for three years. Just seeing my name on the credits right when you open the album, that was pretty exciting. As well as being in good company with Pharrell and Game and Dre, that’s the icing on the cake. Especially being a producer, growing up listening to their sounds and them being a big influence on my production.” As for his upcoming projects, Mars didn’t offer any details on the new Will Smith album he and 1500 or Nothin’ are reportedly creating. He did mention working on a 1500 or Nothin’ compilation album, on Snoop Dogg’s daughter’s album and on Game’s next album. “Me and Game was in the studio yesterday,” Mars revealed. “We did two songs. That’s coming along crazy. We’re going to have no features: It’s just him rapping. No name dropping, no little things people say is clich

10-seconds. That’s all it took for the former YouTube star and UFC fighter to win his pro-boxing debut in devastating fashion. Kimbo Slice landed a huge right hand that put James Wade out, and left him lying motionless on the bottom rope. This makes the 39-year-old Wade, 0-2 for his boxing career, certainly a sign that he should probably consider calling it quits. Top 10 Ryan Dunn Stunts

Ryan Dunn , an original member of the Jackass crew, died Monday morning in a car crash at the age of 34. Of all the Jackasses, Dunn was one of the more likeable ones, mainly because he didn’t come across as much of a douche the way Bam Margera and the others did. He was in fact one of the less outspoken members of the group. He, however, was no less daring than anyone in Jackass. Here are 10 of his most memorable stunts. P.S: These are my favorite Ryan Dunn moments. If you feel like I missed a stunt or posted lame ones here, go say so in the comments or make your own list. 10. Super Mighty Glue The most disturbing and hysterical use of super glue, ever. 9. BMX Tug-of War Ryan Dunn crashing his bicycle onto cacti. 8. Jet Engine An excellent recreation of that classic Maxell tape commercial, complete with hair, shades, couch plus jet engine. 7. Ass Kicked By Girl Dunn gets beat up by a girl. Well, a muscular, well trained, and champion kickboxer girl, but a girl nonetheless. 6. Stilt Boxing Sorry for the video quality. It’s the only video of this insane boxing match between Dunn and Steve-O that I could find. 5. The Rocket Cart My favorite stunt from Jackass 2. 4. Ryan Dunn Downs An Entire Bottle of Tequila Yet another sign of things to come for Dunn. 3. Ryan Dunn crashes golf cart Never has that comment about Dunn’s driving sounded more ominous. 2. Poo Dive The Jackass crew has done a lot of disgusting stuff over the years, but “Poo Dive”, Dunn’s first ever stunt for the series, is the shit, quite literally. Wearing only white briefs, flippers and a snorkel he dove into a sewage tank, effectively setting the bar high when it comes vomit-inducing Jackass antics. 1. Butt X-ray In the, er, annals of Jackassery, this is Ryan Dunn’s defining moment, the one he will forever be remembered for. His ticket to immortality. Stop The Violence: Teacher Admits To Running “Fight Club” For Little Juvenile Delinquents

SMH. We bet Mr. Wesley’s momma thought she had done a great job, raising a son who could inspire young Black men away from the trife life. Unfortunately: that’s not quite what this nutcase chose to do with the young lives he was entrusted with. A math and science teacher has admitted holding a real life ‘Fight Club’ for his teenage pupils – organizing brawls in class. Stephen Wesley, 44, was arrested for staging fights between boys who he ‘matched’ for their size and strength. Substitute teacher Wesley hand-picked picked students before letting them fight in class – often with their shirts off. He would stand in the door of the class and watch out for passing teachers while the boxing-style bouts took place. Wesley laid down certain ‘rules’ such as how long to fight for and instructed them to avoid blows to the face that would leave signs of injuries. Prosecutors say his ‘Fight Club’ was inspired by the 1999 film starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton who held open brawl nights for men. Wesley also urged his pupils not to discuss the fights using the iconic movie line – ‘The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club’. Pasadena Courthouse in California heard he helped organize the fights while working as a teacher at a juvenile probation camp. Wesley, of Winnetka, Illinois, was caught after some of the fights were caught on a security camera in August 2008. He pleaded no contest to six felony child abuse charges and is expected to be jailed for 180 days when he is sentenced on April 15. The incidents happened while he was an employee of the Los Angeles County Office of Education at the now-closed Camp Karl Holton in the San Fernando Valley. He matched up boys from rival gangs of boys aged between 13 and 17 but after a video was found he immediately quit his role. So what: this fool figured since these little bad-ass boys were already on a downward spiral, he’d bring some order into their descent into thug life? Mr. Wesley ain’t sh*t! Via PacificCoastNews

Justin Bieber: A Roundup Of The Year’s Fan Frenzies

The star’s appearances brought hysteria to malls, airports in 2010. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber in New Zealand in April Photo: Splash News Justin Bieber caused quite a frenzy in 2010. Everywhere he went, Bieber Fever quickly ensued, proving that the singer can hype up teenage girls anywhere he goes. It’s worth noting that Bieber’s hysteria-inducing appearances didn’t begin in 2010. He had one very historic mall appearance in 2009 whose consequences played out throughout this year. Back in November 2009, just as he was really taking off, in Long Island after crowds began to get out of control. Months later, in March 2010, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, was arrested in connection with the incident. He pleaded not guilty when police decided that he had . Bieber stood by his manager , launching the “Free Scooter” campaign. In February, the star was in Europe playing shows and doing press for his My World 2.0 album. While in Paris Bieber had to cancel an in-store appearance when the crowd began to get out of hand, swarming the store where Bieber was meeting with fans. He later apologized. , in April when he was set to appear on the Aussie talk show “Sunrise.” The show’s producers were forced to pull the plug early on in the appearance after audience members began to get injured when fans rushed the stage. Just a day later in New Zealand, Bieber was greeted by throngs of fans when he touched down at Auckland International Airport. Bieber later commented on the overzealous fan greeting , noting that someone stole his hat and knocked his mom down. He tweeted, “I don’t condone thievery!!” after the fans returned the hat to the star. In September, during a stop at Hooters in Canada, Bieber was greeted by a number of excited fans . The star handled the fans well, serenading them and somehow keeping them at bay. That brings us to the Boxing Day incident on Sunday. When Bieber decided to indulge in some post-holiday shopping in Canada, hundreds of fans decided to follow the star all over the mall. Needless to say, the manager at the Sunglass Hut, asked to close down the store for his arrival, was not pleased by the attention. Eminem To Play A Boxer In ‘8 Mile’-Inspired ‘Southpaw’

Detroit MC set to return to the big screen in film written by ‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator. By Kara Warner Eminem Photo: Getty Images Nearly nine years after making his big-screen debut in “8 Mile,” Eminem has lined up another film project. According to Deadline , DreamWorks has picked up “Southpaw,” a drama in which Eminem will play a “fast-rising welterweight boxer who brawls his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy.” “Sons of Anarchy” creator/executive producer Kurt Sutter will write the script. Sutter explained that the project is several years in the making, borne from meetings with Eminem and his team, and hearing the rapper open up about his real-life struggles on his recent albums. “I took meetings with Marshall’s producing partners over the past seven years, looking for something to do together,” Sutter told Deadline. “I know he’s very selective and doesn’t do a lot. But he shared so much of his personal struggle in this raw and very honest album [ Recovery ], one that I connected with on a lot of levels. He is very interested in the boxing genre, and it seemed like an apt metaphor, because his own life has been a brawl.” Sutter said the film will be a kind of continuation of “8 Mile,” which garnered Em both critical acclaim and a Best Song Oscar for “Lose Yourself.” “We are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life,” he said. “He’ll play a world-champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter. At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy. “I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty,” Sutter continued, “Which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip-hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right-handed boxer.” Sutter is set to begin writing immediately and will reportedly turn in a draft in February. No word on a possible release date or when production may begin. Are you excited about Eminem returning to the big screen? Tell us in the comments!
