Some that will be cherished forever, and others that will hopefully be scrubbed from our brains if we’ve had enough chills since Us. This week’s winner below, then hit the next page for the loser of the week! Winner Shangela When it comes to staples in LGBTQ entertainment culture, drag queens are definitely a celebrated act. So it was only right when Beyoncé and Jay-Z received the Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards, an epic drag act would pay tribute to the Queen Bey. RuPaul’s Drag Race veteran Shangela was completely willing and able to set fire to the stage. Shangela (real name D.J. Pierce) lip-synced a medley of Beyoncé hits like “Partition” and “***Flawless,” complete with epic choreo and flow-tastic wigs blowing in the wind. Weeks after the world learned that several well-heeled parents were ensnared by Operation Varsity Blues, the college admissions bribery scandal continues to make headlines. And of course, the public’s continued interest in the story is much to the chagrin of its principal players, including 19-year-old social media influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli. Olivia is the daughter of Full House actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli. Loughlin was among those arrested in connection with the scandal, and she stands accused of paying out $500,000 in bribes and participating in a scheme to convince the USC admissions board that her daughters are elite athletes. From the start, Olivia was one of the most high-profile participants in the scandal, not only because of her massive social media following, but also because she was upfront about the fact that she had no interest in attending college and was doing so only to appease her parents. As such, she became a sort of poster child for privilege and entitlement, but in the weeks since news of the scandal broke, some observers have reevaluated Olivia’s role and begun to consider her a victim rather than a perpetrator. These days, Olivia has dropped out of USC and is reportedly in hiding at her boyfriend’s house. Giannulli lost her deal with Sephora , as well as several other high-profile sponsorships, and insiders say she fully blames her overbearing parents. “Olivia has been staying with her boyfriend in Malibu. She’s not talking to her parents right now,” one source tells Us Weekly. “Olivia hasn’t been out with friends. She is completely in hiding right now,” the source continues. “Olivia is posting private stories on her Instagram, using the only-close friends option, to share her days on social media with her close circle.” In keeping with what we’ve been hearing so far, the source confirms that Giannulli is royally pissed at her parents and blames them for destroying her career as an influencer. “A lot of Olivia’s friends have been telling her not to be mad at her parents since they were just trying to do the best they could for her, but she doesn’t listen,” the source reveals. “Olivia feels she is the victim.” Cheer up, Olivia. You’re not wrong to be a little pissed at your parents, but we have some good news: This scandal has made you about 1000 percent more interesting than most influencers. Plus, you’ll be better able to relate to your audience now! Most of us feel like victims all the time!
The reality series Below Deck shows a group of young people who work aboard yachts. Crew members, dubbed yachties live abroad on the luxurious vessels while making sure clients’ high demands are met, but while also getting to have their own fun in the sun as they visit some of the most beautiful places around the world. Former yachtie Caroline Bedol had quite the storyline on last season and if you saw the show then you already know we are in for a rocky ride. The drama for Caroline was never-ending as she was often bullied by chief stew Kate Chastain and second stew Josiah Carter. It eventually became so bad that Caroline decided to quit the show to remove herself from the toxic situation. The former third stew revealed to Radar Online that she started having suicidal thoughts from the time she quit until “halfway through the airing of the season.” She described how she felt when she finally returned home from her traumatizing experience, saying “I was fighting alone. Once I got back I was really depressed. I was struggling. I was saying, ‘every episode, I feel like I am dying.” Caroline revealed that she never heard from any of her castmates after her sudden departure. But she certainly had a lot to say about her former boss Kate, labeling her a “textbook psychopath.” She elaborated saying, “I don’t use the world [psychopath] flippantly. It’s a personality disorder. These people display patterns and that’s why we study them.” Despite the hard ship , Caroline says she actually had some positive experiences from being on the show. She said she discovered her confidence that she “did not have in the beginning” and she also is now valuing her health and putting herself first from now on. Yay! Caroline has made a strong presence on social media since her TV debut and has used it to connect with supportive people. “The positive that’s come from the show is something that I’ve never had before and that’s a platform to reach people,” she said. “I’ve received so many messages saying ‘I relate to you, I have depression,’ it’s humbling,” she shared. She also posted numerous Instagram live sessions over the past few weeks where she surprisingly shared that she is “homeless.” She posted a photo from a hotel she was staying at to Instagram with her emotional support dog Rico, assuring us that she is not too terribly alone. Caroline confirmed with Radar that she is technically homeless, but it’s not as bad as it may sound. “I’m not looking for a homeless shelter to stay in, but I am homeless in the sense that I am in between homes,” Caroline revealed. She says that she’s not bothered when people refer to her as “homeless,” before further understanding her situation. “I’m not sure where I’m going to be landing geographically,” she says. “You get motels or hotels when you can, you sleep in your car if it’s warm.” Hm, I bet she is missing the yacht life right about now? To make matters worse, she is also currently struggling financially as she admits she is in a boat load of debt. “In an effort to get my mother secure, I went into credit card debt,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “Two credit card companies are suing me, but I’ve [got] a very Jewish attorney handling it (Suck it, @radar_online),” she added. In case you missed her Twitter meltdown, a user who was following Caroline expressed concerns to Bravo, which reportedly led to the police visiting Caroline for a welfare check . The former reality star was not happy about the stranger’s call and said on Twitter that “the welfare check was not valid” and that “it’s not correct to call the cops on a stranger who you deem suicidal.” After her very personal article was published, Caroline replied with an almost compliment. “Well done Radar ,” she naturally tweeted. “Still not impressed but it doesn’t suck like everything else you do,” adding a kissing emoji. We, however, heard her saying, “walk the plank!” (Obviously in a pirates voice.) View Slideshow: 13 Celebrities Who Have Filed for Bankruptcy
Earlier this year, Beth Chapman revealed her new wig — a symbol of her fight for her life against cancer. The Dog The Bounty Hunter star and wife of the man himself beat cancer once, but her odds are not considered very good right now. In a new interview, her husband reveals that she has a plan to spend the rest of her life working by his side. In a tearful interview with DailyMailTV , Duane “Dog The Bounty Hunter” Chapman explains how the love of his life is preparing to die. “She has told me repeatedly,” Chapman reveals. “That if these are her last days on earth she wants to spend every moment with me.” He adds that she wants to spend those days “on the hunt.” That is, in pursuit of fugitives. Beth wants to spend her time “living life to the fullest.” “And,” Chapman adds. “Enjoying the time we have left together.” “The best part of my job,” Chapman says. “Is having her by my side on every journey.” Of course. “I can’t imagine a day without her,” he confesses. That is so heartbreaking. “And,” he continues. “Think deep down inside she is always concerned for my safety.” Chapman explains that Beth has these concerns “because she wants the security of knowing I come home to her every night.” “If this were me,” Chapman confesses, speaking of how he would act if he had cancer. “I would be a big sissy.” By context, it is clear that he does not mean that term in a perjorative manner towards any group of people. “But,” he says proudly. “Not Beth.” Speaking of is wife, Chapman says: “She is still hitting the ground running with me.” “Beth is determined cancer won’t slow her down,” he praises. “In fact,” Chapman notes. “I am so amazed by Beth’s strength and positive attitude.” “My baby has cancer,” Chapman laments. But he once again praises her strength and resolve, adding: “and she is fighting like hell.” Chapman himself, despite his tough guy image, is unafraid to admit that this situation has him in real emotional distress. “I have cried a lot over this,” he confesses. Chapman explains that he is terrified of the worst “because Beth is my everything.” “Despite all of the obstacles I have overcome,” Chapman expresses. “This is by far the biggest test of my life.” “And mark my words,” he vows. “I will not let her die.” “She is my rock and my bodyguard,” Chapman says, heaping further praises upon his wife. He concludes by vowing: “I will do everything I can to keep her here.” While we can all hope for the best, we know that sometimes, everything you can isn’t enough to change things. It doesn’t matter you may think of the Chapmans as people or of the archaic laws that still allow bounty hunting. This isn’t about their job or their controversies or politics. This is about Beth’s life. At present, doctors say that she has about a 50% chance of survival against the throat cancer that returned last year. We wish her a full recovery and we hope that she goes into remission sooner rather than later. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Beat Cancer
Paul McCartney is the latest musical icon to talk openly about Michael Jackson. Specifically, of course, Paul McCartney is the latest musical icon to talk openly about the strong likelyhood that Michael Jackson was almost a serial child molestor. Such accusations against Jackson are not new. But they’ve been brought to the forefront of late and emphasized in the most personal and heinous of ways by the documentary Leaving Neverland . It aired on HBO last month and centered on James Safechuck and Wade Robson, two men who claim the superstar abused them while they were young boys during the 1980s and 1990s. The film includes interviews with its subjects, along with harrowing details of their alleged ordeal and relationship with Jackson. It appears to have convinced many previous doubters that Jackson truly was guilty of these awful crimes and misdeeds. McCartney, the legendary former member of The Beatles, hasn’t defended Jackson in his first comments since the movie aired. But he has expressed legitimate shock over what the documentary depicts and concludes. “I think it’s sad,” McCartney told Radio Futuro in Chile, where he has been performing. “Obviously Michael was a great singer, a great artist and a great dancer. For years we’ve loved that. Nobody knew about the other side that’s shown in that movie,” the artist added. That’s not really true, of course. Jackson was taken to court (and acquitted) in 2005 on similar charges of molestation, whilc (reliable) talk about these kinds of actions following the singer around until his death in June of 2009. “When I knew him he was a really nice guy. I didn’t know about the dark side,” McCartney continues in this interview, adding: “It makes it very difficult to look back on the memories which were good memories, to think, oh boy, there was other stuff going on.” Jackson covered McCartney’s song “Girlfriend” on his “Off the Wall” album in 1979. The pair also recorded “The Girl Is Mine” together, along with “Say Say Say.” They were pretty close many decades ago, which is why it’s so hard for McCartney to accept the probable truth about Jackson. “For me, I’m okay to just stay with the personal memories I had of him. The other side is the other side. I don’t know about that,” McCartney said, concluding: “I can understand why people are very disappointed in him and angry that he had the dark side.” The other music Hall of Famers who have spoken out about Jackson have stuck their foot far deeper into their mouths than McCartney does here. In a truly stunning and nauseating statement, Barbara Streisand recently said of The King of Pop : “His sexual needs were his sexual needs, coming from whatever childhood he has or whatever DNA he has. You can say ‘molested’, but those children, as you heard say [the grown-up Robson and Safechuck], they were thrilled to be there.” YIKES, right? She even added: “They both married and they both have children, so it didn’t kill them.” Ummm… so we guess the well-orchestrated molestation was okay then, Babs? The singer/actress eventually apologized for these wildly tone deaf remarks, saying on Instagram: I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims, because the words as printed do not reflect my true feelings. I didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced in any way. Like all survivors of sexual assault, they will have to carry this for the rest of their lives. I feel deep remorse and I hope that James and Wade know that I truly respect and admire them for speaking their truth. Diana Ross, however, is apparently standing by her words. The Supremes singer referred to Jackson a “magnificent incredible force” and asked his accusers to ” stop in the name of love ” in an impassioned, disgusting Tweet last week. “This is what’s on my heart this morning. I believe and trust that Michael Jackson was and is A magnificent incredible force to me and to many other.” Ross concluded the messages by quoting one of The Supremes most famous hits, writing: “STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE.” She was famously quite tight with Jackson, which is why we’d like to amend this conclusion and address Ross as follows: STOP BEING TERRIBLE AND INSENSITIVE AND TOTALLY BLIND TO WHAT JACKSONW WAS IN THE NAME OF FRIENDSHIP. ( Terms and conditions ). In her sit down interview, Carter spoke about the sexual assault she experienced at the hands of Kelly in 2003, when she was 24-years-old. Carter said she had been working as Kelly’s braider for a year and even defended him in 2002, when he was arrested on child pornography charges. Carter described Kelly with two words: “Perfect gentleman.” “I would tell people, ‘Pray for him. I do his hair. He is nothing like what they say.’ On, February 18, 2003, Carter alleged that Kelly called her in to braid his hair. Later, he asked her to massage his head. She told him she didn’t do massages, “I laughed it off. I didn’t know he was for real. If I could change that day, I wouldn’t have been there.” Kelly allegedly yanked her head down by her braid and demanded that he perform oral sex on her. Carter said Kelly repeatedly told her, “Suck it for Daddy.” Carter tried to shield herself from his body with her hand, pulling away from him. In response, Kelly started hawking up saliva, spitting on her. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Fix your muthaf*cking face.’ I knew that’ll be my last day there.” Carter went to the bathroom and started questioning herself. “I get to the bathroom and I grab the wall and it was a rose colored towel. I wipe my face. I’m not dressed no type of way. I look at myself in the mirror, I’m not a beauty queen. I didn’t perceive myself to be more than just his hair braider. And I just kept thinking to myself, why did this happen to me.” Carter called authorities the same day to report the incident. SEE ALSO: R. Kelly’s Ex-Wife Is Going Back To Reality Television “They asked for my clothing and I gave them my favorite Tommy Hilfiger shirt and that’s where they found DNA evidence. Semen.” For whatever reason, charges were not filed against Kelly in 2003. Carter offered her theory about the reason why this might have been so. “Celebrities are powerful. Celebrities have support systems. I have no support system outside of my immediate family.” Six months later, Carter signed a $650,000 settlement where Kelly denied any wrong doing and Carter agreed to keep quiet. In 2009, R. Kelly released, “Hair Braider” a song about having sex with the woman who braids his hair. Carter said there were references to her in the lyrics and music video. Kelly sings, “Zig zag braids, got em looking like spaghetti.” Carter said, “That was one of the hair styles that I was known for doing. We were on the L shaped couch when the incident happened.” The song led to another confidential settlement, this one for $100,000. In documents, Kelly denies any wrong doing but agreed never to perform it again or include it on any of his future albums. After the documentary, Cook County State Attorney Kimberly Foxx asked that victims of Kelly come forward and share their stories. Carter said, “I would be going on with my day, you turn on the news, here’s another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. You just want to be there for them.” Carter said that interestingly enough, Kelly’s interview with Gayle King that inspired her to come forward and tell her story publicly. “I know that I love myself today. I know that I don’t care what anybody say about me. This is a release. I been carrying this since 2003. I don’t want to be in the public but this is my life. If I die tomorrow, I know that I told the truth.” You can watch Carter’s interview in the video below. T he NAACP has named Jay-Z as its coveted President’s Award winner, a prize that recognizes the honoree’s distinguished record in public service. The rapper-turned “businessman,” will be honored during the 50th NAACP Image Awards , which will be broadcast live on TV One from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles Saturday night. Previous recipients of the President’s Award include Muhammad Ali , Jesse Jackson and Colin Powell . “The President’s Award is an honor we carefully bestow upon an individual, maintaining its significance and commitment to recognizing excellence in service that directly affects our community,” NAACP’s President Derrick Johnson said in a statement Thursday. For example, Roc Nation , the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, has become a major civil right player . One of its latest victories involved helping to clear 11-year-old Jabari Talbot , who was arrested in February after he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance in his 6th-grade classroom in Florida. That was at least the third time this year alone that Roc Nation had stepped in to offer legal assistance, adding to an impressive list of civil rights accomplishments that included helping to free rapper 21 Savage from immigration detention. Jay-Z was also instrumental in the release of Meek Mill from prison in 2018. He had spent nearly five months incarcerated after a controversial sentence for probation violation. “Shawn Carter has been committed to shedding light on the issues that plague the Black community including systematic racism and unjust treatment under the law, utilizing his global platform to create everlasting change. There is no better time than now, as we celebrate our 50th year, to honor him with this award,” said the NAACP’s president. The announcement about Jay-Z came amid controversy over the Image Awards nomination of Jussie Smollett . The actor was nominated for the most outstanding supporting actor in a drama series for his role as Jamal Lyons on the primetime TV show “ Empire. ” California’s Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters will also be honored this year with the NAACP Chairman’s Award and radio legend Tom Joyner will receive the Vanguard Award. Other award recipients will be revealed during the TV One’s live broadcast, which will be hosted by “ Black-ish ” star Anthony Anderson .
