G eorgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp fired off a ludicrous accusation against Stacey Abrams on Thursday, as he also announced under pressure that his office would allow scores of mostly Black voters to cast a ballot on Election Day. He’s also the GOP’s nominee for governor and is running against Abrams. She’s attempting to make history as the nation’s first African-American female governor. They are locked in a very tight race. His office had placed more than 53,000 voter registration applications on hold—about 70 percent of them from African-Americans, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday. The AP report created a firestorm of criticism against Kemp, who’s backed by President Donald Trump . Kemp denied any wrongdoing. Nevertheless, in a tweet on Thursday morning, Kemp said the 53,000 registrants would be allowed to vote. He also accused Abrams of manufacturing “outrage off a problem she created” and using fear to raise campaign funds. The 53,000 Georgians on our pending list can vote this fall. Applications are put on hold, for example, if a registrant’s name appears on a driver’s license with a hyphen but the hyphen is missing on the registration application. Making matters worse, registrants are usually clueless about the reason election officials rejected their application. A new poll shows that Kemp has a nominal two-point lead over Abrams. The Black voters among the 53,000 registrants at issue could easily push her over the top. Meanwhile, voter rights advocates are keeping a close eye on Kemp. “We sued Brian Kemp in #Georgia over his discriminatory exact match scheme in 2016 and won. We will not stand by idly while GA lawmakers resurrect this discriminatory policy again,” The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law tweeted on Thursday . In the estimation of many country music fans, Miranda Lambert’s reputation has taken quite a tumble over the course of the past year. The Atlanta media icon with decades under his belt will return to radio November 5, this time at Urban One’s Majic 107.5/97.5 ! According to The AJC , he’ll replace “SiMan” Alexander and Chubb Rock’s afternoon show airing from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Majic fans shouldn’t fret however, SiMan and Chubb will move to 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cameron left radio in January to join Rakanter, a branding firm, and management consulting firm, The Threaded Agency. He’s still at Rakanter and The Threaded agency and also hard at work as the live game announcer for the Atlanta Falcons and the Hawks. Cameron told The AJC that in addition to his radio, sports, and firm positions, he wants to create content and strategy for Urban One. According to TMZ , last week a New Jersey grand jury indicted the rapper for one count of domestic violence with significant bodily injury against longtime partner Emily B , two counts of threatening to kill and one count of possession of a weapon. As we previously reported , back in March of this year, a video emerged of Fab threatening Emily’s father and brother at their Engelwood, New Jersey home because they were allegedly retrieving guns from the property so they could not be used against her. Swearing, Fab threatened Emily’s father, saying “I got a bullet for you.” He also aggressively moved toward Emily on two occasions, sending her running back in fear. In the video, you can see a weapon in his hands, which was later revealed as a pair of scissors. Weeks prior to this March incident, Fab was arrested for domestic violence where according to the affidavit , the rapper threatened, via text, to hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat and revealed that he would kill her, but “did not want to go out like that.” In addition, Fabolous allegedly punched her in the face seven times “causing severe damage to her two front teeth.” He was arrested after turning himself and was arrested on two felony charges. Now here’s where it gets interesting. Rumors are now swirling that despite this disturbing history of alleged abuse, the couple may have recently gotten married. Hot New Hip Hop wrote that the rapper attended the BET Hip Hop Awards rocking a diamond band on his ring finger with Emily doing the same on social media. Hmmmm…. The Claws star took to social media to share that she was personally invited to the event at Will Rogers Polo Club by the founder of The A List, Ashlee Margolis , who hosts exclusive events for high end brands. But then all of a sudden, Niecy’s invitation was rescinded on the day of the A-list shindig. In a series of now-deleted tweets, she wrote the following: “My invite was rescinded bcuz I was the wrong caliber of guest,” she tweeted. “2x Emmy nominee. Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, #1 summer show Claws . NOT white. Let’s see who makes the cut… smh.” She also stressed that she’s boycotting the Veuve Clicquot brand all together. “I wouldn’t come to your event if you paid me. Wait u wouldn’t.
