Last November, we reported that 90 Day Fiance star Ashley Martson had been kidnapped and brutally attacked when she was 19. Now, Ashley is speaking up on Instagram and inviting her fans and followers to hear the grim story of her survival story. This is a huge step for her, and she even released a statement about how she’s no longer afraid to address her trauma. First of all, Ashley explains why she decided to get ahead and leak her story through blogger John Yates late last year. “I wasn’t sure how the other tabloids would portray me,” Ashley explained at the time. She added: “I knew he would post it with the with dignity and respect with the understanding that this is a very sensitive subject.” And, she revealed, she had been warned that an old “friend” already planned to leak the story of the brutal 2005 assault. “People are disgusting,” she correctly observed. “Sending this story to tabloids shows how s–tty people really are.” In 2005, Ashley was near her car outside of work when a man, Sean Patrick Gallagher, attacked her with a box cutter and tied her up. He took her elsewhere in her own car. In a small athletic field, he stopped the car, terrorized her, and sexually assaulted her. He could have — and may have been planning to — end her life. Only 19 at the time, Ashley mustered the incredible courage to fight back against he armed monster. She struck him with a bag and used her own teeth to chew through the zip-ties that had bound her hands so tightly that they were discolored. Ashley made a run for it, on foot, sliding down an embankment and wading across a creek to get away. Gallagher was eventually identified with DNA evidence. He was already in prison at the time. At his trial, Ashley did not hold back when it came to scolding him for fighting the charges, forcing her to relive her horrific trauma. In 2009, after Ashley’s testimony, it took only 90 minutes for the jury to convict. He was found guilty of kidnapping, rape, involuntary intercourse, robbery, and terroristic threats. Last November, it was John Yates who shared the story — at Ashley’s request — to get it out in the open, the right way. Now, Ashley is addressing the topic herself on Instagram. “I was kidnapped and almost killed,” Ashley acknowledges. “But,” she continues. “I’m no longer afraid to speak out.” She then directs people to read about it. There isn’t exactly new information, since it’s been public knowledge, but her statement is brand new. Ashley has known a lot of awful experiences in her life. Kidnapped at 19. And she continues to battle Lupus, a devastating and chronic autoimmune disease that threatens her life. Leaked text messages appear to accuse her ex-husband, Jay Smith, of sexually assaulting her while she was recovering from a medical treatment. There is no limit on the horror that one can experience in a lifetime, but we hope that Ashley never relives any of these nightmares again. Ashley is a profoundly strong woman. This NOT exactly just in: Farrah Abraham is not the sharpest tack in the drawer. She’ll never be accused of playing with a full deck or of not having at least one screw loose. And yet, even for this disgraced ex-Teen Mom star, the video Farrah released on Wednesday likely came as a shock to those who have been following her so-called career for the past several months. Yes, it was that ignortant, tone-deaf and just plain dumb. Here. Let us set the stage for you, okay? Abraham has been in New York City for the past few days, taking daughter Sophia on a tour of The Big Apple while also making an appearance at this city’s Fashion Week. Earlier this week, though, Farrah and Sophia visited One World Trade Center in order to pay tribute to those who died on the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. On its surface, this was an admirable gesture. Dig a little deeper past the surface, however, and … well… … you get Abraham mixing up the date of this awful incident with the name of the country’s most famous convenience store. This is what the reality star said to open her self-filmed footage: “Okay, so we wanted to do, since it’s gonna be September 11, in honor of the Freedom Towers, and observatory deck and everything, of 7-Eleven, we are going to do this. Wow, look at this guys.” Yup, Farrah just said 7-Eleven . Abraham brushed right past her mistake, however, to say how vital she believes it to be that her daughter learn about the tragedy. “I think this is gorgeous, beautiful, and in memory of a lot of loved ones, a lot of others lost,” she says in the following video, adding: “I remember being in fifth grade when September 11 attacks happened, Sophia was not born yet, so I think it’s really important that Sophia learns about it, and here we go.” Farrah Abraham at One World Trade Center Farrah’s sentiment is right, of course. But was it right of her to turn this visit into a 12-minute video that she released on her YouTube page? Or right of here to strike such an odd, enthusiastic tone while walking around the sacred ground? “It’s pretty gorgeous here. It’s such a great day. The buildings are so beautiful,” she continued, later gushing over how much she was “enjoying” the entire experience. On the bright side at least, no one watched this video and wondered what the heck was the matter with Farrah’s appearance . Instead, they simply wondered what the heck is the matter with Farrah. Full stop. “I kind of wanted to make this video while I’m here at the Freedom Tower for September 11,” the MTV personality added. “However we all deal with loss, I encourage you guys to check out my last videos for bereavement, depression, but it’s good to have a memorial for those. It’s great to visit loved ones and have good memories.” We don’t want to judge anyone who has been through any traumatic ordeal. Not in any way at all. But if you’re checking out Farrah Abraham’s videos on bereavement and depression, we just hope you’re looking at a few other things as well. New York City is the latest stop on Farrah and Sophia’s tour across the world. They are fresh off a trip to Paris, where they enjoyed a day of shopping at stores like Louis Vuitton. Days before that adventure, they walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. Where is Farrah getting the money for such grand vacations? That’s a great question. She wants some of her ventures to be overseas so she invited everyone except for Jenn to Costa Rica so there will be more girls trip shenanigans soon. Apparently, Shaunie is mad at Jenn again, and so is Evelyn. I don’t know what happened between the episode that they all made up and Jenn apologized, and tonight’s episode, but I guess Evelyn and Shaunie needed something to beef about because they went back to saying that Jenn wasn’t really genuine and that they were over her. It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone . Jenn has been on some BS at times during this show, but in this case, she really didn’t seem to be on her drama tip. She just left them claiming that she was done with them for real. Okay, girl. They always claim they’re done but the allure of attention via reality TV gets strong and they come running right back. Remember when Evelyn was “fixing her life” with Iyanla, got her own show and was allegedly on this positive kick? Then her show got canceled and she went running right back to Basketball Wives and it didn’t take her long to revert back to her old evil self. Anyway… The episode ends on another wack note with Evelyn and OG arguing again. OG is a straight shooter, and she’s not scared of these women, nor does she try too hard to be their friend, which they don’t seem like. So, Evelyn’s “Toe-gie” comment came up again and they started going back and forth about that. Basically, OG doesn’t appreciate Evelyn’s ish talking because if it were the other way around Evelyn would be trying to throw drinks, hands and whatever else, and we’ve seen it numerous times. They claim they don’t like OG because she’s aggressive but OG never actually acted on any of her threats. She has kept it quite calm throughout the entire season. There was even a moment where OG invited the group to a party that her family threw because she wanted them to get to know her and see her culture. Only Jackie and Jenn actually showed up (Cece couldn’t make it). OG was disappointed because it was her once again attempting to extend an olive branch only for her to b dismissed. To make things worse, word on these cyber streets is that OG wasn’t even allowed to film the reunion on stage, which was taped last Monday. Girl, they had her in another room communicating via satellite because the other women didn’t feel safe. Mind you, people who were there say there was fighting and object-throwing happening on stage. Obviously, none of that was OG. So, once again, we’re back wondering why they were so afraid of OG. She did make some threats here and there but again never actually acted violently and she only verbally sparred with people who came at her first with whatever shady comment they felt like making that day. It’s no different from when your mom threatened to kill you but never actually did. So, say it with me, colorism (might even be xenophobia too). OG even seemed to agree but according to MadameNoire, when it was brought up, she was dismissed, which is what people usually like to do when dark skin girls bring up colorism. Such a shame. Rosario Dawson and her longtime friend Abrima Erwiah have created a social enterprise that supports African fashion and sustainable practices. On Tuesday afternoon, the brand showed their Spring/Summer 2020 collection and had 60 models to show all their vibrant looks using African artisanal practices. Every model had a different hairstyle and TRESemmé products were utilized to help create the looks. Stephen explained, “Typically when you see a show, most of the girls have the same look, even if they don’t have any hair, they are forcing a look into that hair.” This was not the case for this show. She continued, “For us when I walked in and saw the designs, they looked cultural and could be African, and it would be easy to do braids and all that, twists and all that, cultural look, but we wanted to do the opposite. We felt that natural, or loving cultural, doesn’t mean you have to be natural. If you have natural, kinky coarse hair we’re gonna have fun with it! Create a fun shape. I was like, “You know what? I want to incorporate our culture but I also want to show that we could be elevated and we can still be high fashion with our hair. Lemme flip it, turn it around, give her a fringe in the front and a surprise in the back.” This hairstyle is great for the girl with a short to medium afro. There was SO much hair backstage. Stephen revealed that there were at least two suitcases full, “probably more.” She shared that women should keep extensions in their house to help switch up their look. “You have options and it’s inexpensive. You can get marley twists and you twist it, you pin it on top of you head. Just create shapes.” You can also just add hair to help make your hair bigger. “That’s what we did with Damarys,” Stephen explained. “She’s closing the show and she had a small afro, and I said, ‘You know what? And while it’s been years since he’s been in financial trouble, it doesn’t mean that the end is near. In fact, according to The Blast , Sony Music still has their hands out. In court documents obtained by The Blast , Herbert has yet to pay the $4 million he owes Sony Music, even after a judge ruled that he needed to pay the debt. As we reported earlier, the label gave Herbert the $4 million advance in order for him to find new talent. They lent the money with the expectation that it would eventually be recouped. But they claimed he failed to pay back the advance as he promised. Herbert ignored the lawsuit and a default judgement of $3,738,515.93, was set against him. In new documents, Sony claims, “No portion of the Judgment has been satisfied and the judgment continues to accrue interest. Defendant Herbert instead has evaded enforcement through a series of shell transactions using an ever expanding list of closely held corporate entities as a means to fund and thrive upon a lavish lifestyle at the expense of his creditors, including Sony Music.” Sign Up For Our Newsletter! They also claim that Herbert went through extraordinary measures to prevent Sony from serving him documents. The label alleges that Herbert created a company called GloJoe in order to collect funds. Thus far, he’s collected $472,000. They also believe over 1 million dollars was collected at another point. They’re asking a judge to step in and order Herbert to pay his debt. We’re sure there will be more news. We’ll keep you updated.
