Celebrities are victims of body-shaming and harsh critiques just like the normal, average citizen, which can bring out insecurities and self-consciousness in even the strongest individuals. Allegedly Mariah Carey was so upset regarding the criticism about her weight, that she recently underwent weight-loss surgery. EXCLUSIVE: Body shamers spur Mariah Carey to have weight-loss surgery https://t.co/UGrSx1ZvXw pic.twitter.com/7Rv5pfXGWw — Page Six (@PageSix) November 7, 2017 It’s being reported by Page Six that superstar Mariah Carey had gastric sleeve surgery back in October after being unable to handle the harsh opinions, critiques and body-shaming she received due to her supposed weight gain. The procedure was reportedly performed in Beverly Hills by one of the country’s top surgeons. A source close to Carey, told Page Six that “Mariah has always been proud of her curves, but this summer, as her Caesars Palace residency came to a close, and then she went on tour with Lionel Richie, she noticed it became harder to dance, and she was getting a lot more criticism online from body shamers.” The report goes into further detail about what initially caused Carey’s weight gain, citing increased late-night eating and cocktails after shows with current boyfriend and back-up dancer Bryan Tanaka. Things are apparently looking up after the surgery, as the source says “Mariah underwent the procedure about a month ago, and she is already seeing some good results, and she feels a lot better.” Meanwhile, just last week Carey officially parted ways with her controversial manager Stella Bulochnikov after almost three years of working together. Currently boyfriend Bryan Tanaka has taken over the day-to-day responsibilities of being Carey’s manager. Derick Dillard has a lot on his plate these days. He’s a father of two, a reality star, an aspiring preacher, and now, it appears he’s fashioning himself into some sort of social media firebrand. Yes, apparently encouraged by the response to his attack on Jazz Jennings , Derick has begun rebranding himself as a professional social media jackass. Derick is forever trying to raise money for the esteemed Derick Dillard Doesn’t Want to Work a Full-Time Job fund, so it’s not hard to see why he would relish the attention. The more eyes on his posts, the more potential donors to his “cause.” But telling your followers that there’s no racism in America and condemning vanity and greed while simultaneously starring in a reality show and begging for money are actions bound to attract negative attention. And it’s not just the usual Duggar critics who are coming down hard on Derick. In fact, there are rumors that no one is more upset with Derick’s latest actions than the Duggars themselves. Derick married Jill Duggar back in 2014, and for the most part, he’s been the sort of compliant (read: spineless) son-in-law that Jim Bob prefers. But the rumblings out of Tontitown these days indicate that Derick’s efforts to make a name for himself are not sitting well with his in-laws. According to the Duggar-centric Facebook page Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray, relations between Derick and the Duggars (great band name, btw) have deteriorated to the point that Jill and her husband were seated separately from the rest of the family at Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell’s wedding in September. The seating arrangement is being widely interpreted as a massive snub, but there’s some disagreement as to why Derick might be on the outs with his in-laws. Most believe it’s the result of his recent political ravings, but there’s another theory, as well. Many Duggar fans are now wondering if there’s some legitimacy to the recent rumors that Derick was caught cheating on Jill . Derick’s been working closely with college students as part of his outreach efforts for his church in recent months. Reports of an inappropriate relationship with a female student were recently bolstered by a series of tweets Derick posted about the importance of marital fidelity. Given the Duggars’ knack for keeping skeletons in the closet, we may never know for sure just what Derick did to anger his in-laws. But it’s clear he’s not exactly Jim Bob’s favorite son-in-law these days. Watch Counting On online for more from reality TV’s most controversial family. (Annette Brown/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images) Kandi Burruss Almost Surrendered Her Peach It’s no secret that reality tv isn’t always sweet but for Kandi Burruss it’s been bad enough for her to consider quitting RHOA. “For a second, we had thought about throwing up the deuces and saying goodbye,” Burruss admits to Us Weekly . “Last season after the reunion, I was really kind of done and I was really kind of thinking maybe I should go on about my business.” However, after Bravo reiterated how much they supported her, she decided to stay. As for her husband, she says, he’ll always stand by the choices she makes. (Annette Brown/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images) Kandi also says she never plans on speaking to Phaedra again. “Absolutely not,” she answers when asked if she has an interest in patching things up. (Annette Brown/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images) Kandi also addressed all the controversy that Kenya has faced for not bringing her husband on the show: “I side with Kenya on that situation just because she has had so much drama over the years about her boyfriends,” she explains.”I can understand why she didn’t want to necessarily share it with everybody from the beginning because a lot of people have nice things to say about her relationship. So even though I wish I could have been there when she got married, however she chooses to do it, that’s her business. And he’s a really nice guy. I have since met him after the fact. But I’m on her side on this one.” Burruss says the only lady on the cast she doesn’t consider a friend is Williams, but they can “co-exist” on the show. Other than that, she’s not worried about much. “If I can make it through last season, I can make it through anything,” she says. We knew that Kandi had considered quitting before but we’re kinda surprised to hear Kandi siding with Kenya. Do you think Kandi did the right thing by staying on?

Source: Getty Images / Getty With shows like Insecure and Atlanta breaking barriers and changing the way we view Black television today, it’s hard not to reminisce about the legendary shows that paved the way for them to thrive. Moesha is one of those series that shifted the culture, sparked conversation and represented Black youth unlike television has ever seen before. On Friday, the cast of the beloved series, which came to an end in 2001 after six seasons, reunited on The Real and dished on whether or not there’s a Moesha reboot in the making. Less iconic shows have inched their ways back onto our TV screens, so it would be refreshing to have something so nostalgic and essential to the culture back on tv. Hit the flip to see the cast get emotional about reuniting.
