Joy-Anna Duggar & Austin Forsyth: Are They Living With Her Parents?!

It’s been five months since Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth got married , and the despite their youth, the couple has wasted no time in taking on all the responsibilities of adult life. At 19, Joy-Anna is currently pregnant with her first child, and while she has yet to reveal any solid information about her due date, some fans believe she’ll be welcoming a little bundle of joy before the year is out. (If you crunch the numbers on that prediction, you’ll see why the rumors about Joy-Anna’s “shotgun wedding” have gained so much traction on social media.) The official explanation is that Joy-Anna got pregnant on her honeymoon and learned she was knocked up shortly after she returned home. Speaking of “home,” fans have recently taken an interest in the question of where exactly Joy-Anna and Austin are laying their heads these days. If you’re a fan of Counting On , then you may remember that Austin flips houses for a living and has eagerly spoken of his desire to find the perfect home for his new family. (In one of the series’ most random scenes, Austin was advised by his father to hold off on proposing to Joy until he’d flipped his fifth home because … that’s what Jesus would’ve done? We’re still not quite clear on the reasoning.) Forsyth eventually decided that the perfect home didn’t exist–and thus, it was up to him to build it. Yes, depending on who you ask, Austin and Joy-Anna’s dream home is either under construction or soon to be under construction. Whatever the case, it’s a long way from being completed. So where are Austin and Joy-Anna residing in the meantime? Well, the most popular theory amongst fans seems to be that they’re living with her parents and several of her siblings at the storied Duggar compound. What’s the big deal? you may be asking. She’s freakin’ 19 years old! The average Millennial lives with his parents until he’d 47, and that’s an absolute fact I just made up! Here’s the thing, short-tempered hypothetical reader–we absolutely agree with you. We firmly believe there’s nothing wrong with a 19-year-old living at home for a while. But by all accounts, the Duggars don’t share that belief–at least not in cases where said 19-year-old has already been married off. The Duggars are almost as big on self-reliance and refusal of handouts as they are on the Bible and procreation. Yes, it’s extremely ironic, considering they’ve famously begged for money from fans on numerous occasions, but the Duggars pride themselves on long hours and rugged individualism. Which is probably why Joy-Anna’s continued residence at casa de Duggar is being treated like the family’s biggest secret. Well, maybe like its fourth or fifth biggest secret. Justin Bieber: All About "Following Jesus" These Days

Justin Bieber spent time with Selena Gomez this week, fueling speculation that he and his famous ex-girlfriend are back together. This doesn’t seem to be the case, however. Partly because Selena is in a committed relationship with The Weeknd; partly because we can’t imagine she would take Justin back after the way he treated her; and partly because Bieber is also in a committed relationship… … with Jesus Christ. We don’t mean to sound sarcastic or disrespectful. It’s been reported for several weeks now by several outlets that Bieber is more focused on his faith than ever before. Back in July, Bieber canceled the remaining dates on his world tour, allegedly due to his religious beliefs. The artist has been growing especially close to Hillsong Church leader Carl Lentz for awhile, so much so that fans are worried Bieber will actually give up music for the church. Referring to Bieber calling off a bunch of concerts this summer, an insider told TMZ the following at the time: “He made his decision based on spiritual soul-searching and his own view of the path in life he should be taking.” Hey, if Bieber is happy…whatever, right? That’s what matters. Earlier today, meanwhile, the superstar made another reference to his faith and the journey he’s apparently on, thanking another church leader, Josh Mehl, for seemingly playing a role in turning his life around. “I have learned so much from you, I’m a better man because of you,” wrote Bieber as a caption to the photo above, adding: “I’m a better friend because of you. You have been a true example of what Following Jesus looks like and I’m so grateful I get to walk through this life knowing you!” Pretty powerful stuff. Just a few weeks ago, manager and close friend Scooter Braun gave an interview in which he detailed just how far Bieber really had plummeted following his drunk driving arrest and other run-ins with the law/paparazzi. “It was worse than people realized,” Braun said . “I failed him day after day. We were living in hell because he was in such a dark place.” The music insider said others in the industry told him to give up on Bieber because “the kid was done,” making it clear that Bieber perhaps really did need to change paths. He was drinking a lot and partying all the time and his career was in danger. So don’t get mad at Bieber for taking a break now. Don’t pressure him to make new music. It sounds as though he needed the guidance of a church and various religious leaders to turn his life around and it sounds as though he’s found that. Just go ahead and wish him luck on his journey in that case. That’s what we’re choosing to do. View Slideshow: Justin Bieber: A Chronological List of 31 Women Who Slept With Him For Some Reason

Duggar Fans to TLC: Put Josh Back On TV!

You might feel that just about every time you read something about the Duggar family, it’s news of a new scandal or controversy. Especially common are stories that point out the family’s apparent hypocrisy and inability or unwillingness to live in accordance with the values they espouse publicly. It’s not hard to see why critics and former fans would revel in evidence that the Duggars aren’t quite practicing what they preach. After all, it’s hard to think of another famous family that suffered a fall from grace as swift and brutal as the one that befell the Counting On clan in the wake of the Josh Duggar sex scandals . Frankly, Josh’s crimes were horrific, and the efforts to help him evade prosecution were almost as appalling. As a result, nearly 18 months later, many still see the family’s misfortunes as grounds for celebration. Perhaps that’s unfair, as most of the family was not complicit in Josh’s crimes, but it’s certainly an understandable reaction, as many seem to hope that each Duggar scandal will be the last, and the family will finally be forced to leave the public eye. And, of course, it’s not just the Josh scandals that have earned the Duggars such a vocal contingent of critics. The family’s extremely conservative beliefs basically set them up for failure, and as a result, instances of Duggar hypocrisy are remarkably common.  And because the family purports to hold a position of moral authority, those instances are gleefully pointed out by the same people who have been condemned to hell by the Duggars’ belief system. We certainly understand it’s appeal, but sometimes, all that anti-Duggar news leaves us with the feeling that we’re living in a bubble. Surely, someone must still be pulling for these people, right? Yes, as it turns out, a quick trip through some popular Duggar fan pages reveals that there are quite a few folks out there who still support Jim Bob and company. Not only that, but judging by the comments on a recent photo of Josh and Anna’s daughter, many of these people are pushing a truly bizarre agenda: “I’m still so upset that they can’t feature Josh,” one fan commented. “How do they get to be a testimony of God’s redemptive power if they can’t show the healing?” “Put Josh back with his family please,” wrote another. “TLC won’t allow them to feature Josh but I’m surprised in the Duggar family page they don’t show the kid’s with their parents,” Yes, there are humans on the internet–the same internet you’re using right now!–who not only support the Duggars, but also want more Josh in their lives. Finding comments like the ones above is like stumbling into a bizarro world full of Trump supporters who wish the Access Hollywood tape was even longer. We suppose we can understand turning a blind eye to the Duggars’ indiscretions so that you can continue to support them relatively guilt-free. Denial is a powerful force, after all. But begging TLC to put a known child molester back on television? That’s something we’ll simply never be able to make sense of. Heather Lind: Actress Accuses George H.W. Bush of Sexual Assault

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal involving accusations of sexual harassment, sexual assault , and a pervasive culture of silence, more and more women are stepping forward with stories that they’ve kept quiet for too long. Because public images don’t always match the real person behind the scenes, sometimes these accusations can come as quite a shock. Actress Heather Lind has come forward with her #MeToo story … and she’s accusing none other than former US President, George H.W. Bush. 41st President George H.W. Bush is mostly remembered for his one-term Presidency, for his Vice President’s spelling gaffe, and for his infamous “read my lips” line that, like so many political promises, was nothing but empty words. Oh, and for fathering George W. Bush, who would go on to be a President so infamous that it took the election of an orange menace to overshadow the possibly irreparable harm that he did to the US and its global image. These days, H.W. Bush is in a wheelchair, and time and contrast have softened his image considerably, so that even those who were once his fiercest political critics don’t have many issues with him anymore. But actress Heather Lind, known for her portrayal of Anna Strong in the AMC series, Turn: Washington’s Spies , has come forward with an accusation, sharing her lengthy #MeToo story on Instagram. And what she has to say is not political, but deeply personal. Her lengthy post begins: “I was disturbed today by a photo I saw of President Barack Obama shaking hands with George H. W. Bush in a gathering of ex-presidents organizing aid to states and territories damaged by recent hurricanes.” That, in and of itself, is not disturbing. It’s a great cause, actually. “I found it disturbing because I recognize the respect ex-presidents are given for having served. And I feel pride and reverence toward many of the men in the photo.” That’s more than a lot could say. (Personally, I could say that about one of them without reservation) “When I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo.” Oh gosh. We can see why the photo hit home for her. “He didn’t shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side.” She’s not clear about how he allegedly touched her, and … it really shouldn’t matter whether he grabbed her butt or did something more invasive. Sexual assault is wrong. “He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again.” Awful. But politeness kept her from responding, it seems. She wasn’t, she says, the only one who noticed. “Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say ‘not again.'” Well, none of us can speak to what Barbara Bush was really thinking at the time. But if that really was her noticing and just feeling exhasperation instead of horror … that is alarming on a number of levels. “His security guard told me I shouldn’t have stood next to him for the photo. We were instructed to call him Mr. President.” One, that’s awful. Two, that makes us wonder if George H.W. Bush is experiencing some form of dementia that is eroding his impulse-control. Three, it would not be unheard of for wheelchair-bound old men to grope and harass pretty young women and get away with it just because they’re old and in wheelchairs. Especially when that man is powerful. Heather Lind reflects upon that terrible experience. “It seems to me a President’s power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy.” True. There’s so much more to being President than being Commander in Chief. “He relinquished that power when he used it against me and, judging from the comments of those around him, countless other women before me. What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn’t so different from a President really.” That’s one way of looking at it. “I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them.” Those are good things to do, right? “I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character.” We can all do that. “My fellow cast-mates and producers helped me that day and continue to support me.” It’s good that she has a support network. “I am grateful for the bravery of other women who have spoken up and written about their experiences.” Remember, folks — strength in numbers. Just like Evan Rachel Wood says . “And I thank President Barack Obama for the gesture of respect he made toward George H. W. Bush for the sake of our country, but I do not respect him. #metoo.” To be clear, that second “him” means George H.W. Bush. Pronouns can be kind of vague. That is heavy stuff. While Heather Lind’s story evoked an outpouring of support, it seems that some people bristled over a former President being accused. Because Heather Lind’s Instagram has been bombarded with hate. So much so that Heather has deleted the original post. Unfortunately, even pictures of her holding her baby are getting the nastiest messages in the comments that you can imagine. Sexual assault should not be a political issue, folks. There should not be two sides to this issue. Have we learned nothing from the #MeToo movement? Fats Domino, Rock ‘N’ Roll Pioneer Has Died At Age 89

Continue reading here:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Fats Domino , the amiable rock ‘n’ roll pioneer whose steady, pounding piano and easy baritone helped change popular music while honoring the traditions of the Crescent City, died Tuesday. He was 89. Mark Bone, chief investigator with the Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, coroner’s office, said Domino died of natural causes at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. In appearance, he was no Elvis Presley. He stood 5-feet-5 and weighed more than 200 pounds, with a wide, boyish smile and a haircut as flat as an album cover. But Domino sold more than 110 million records, with hits including “Blueberry Hill,” ”Ain’t It a Shame” and other standards of rock ‘n’ roll. He was one of the first 10 honorees named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Rolling Stone Record Guide likened him to Benjamin Franklin, the beloved old man of a revolutionary movement. His dynamic performance style and warm vocals drew crowds for five decades. One of his show-stopping stunts was playing the piano while standing, throwing his body against it with the beat of the music and bumping the grand piano across the stage. Domino’s 1956 version of “Blueberry Hill” was selected for the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry of historic sound recordings worthy of preservation. The preservation board noted that Domino insisted on performing the song despite his producer’s doubts, adding that Domino’s “New Orleans roots are evident in the Creole inflected cadences that add richness and depth to the performance.” Domino became a global star but stayed true to his hometown, where his fate was initially unknown after Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005. It turned out that he and his family were rescued by boat from his home, where he lost three pianos and dozens of gold and platinum records, along with other memorabilia. Many wondered if he would ever return to the stage. Scheduled to perform at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2006, he simply tipped his hat to thousands of cheering fans. But in May 2007, he was back, performing at Tipitina’s music club in New Orleans. Fans cheered — and some cried — as Domino played “I’m Walkin’,” ”Ain’t It a Shame,” ”Shake, Rattle and Roll,” ”Blueberry Hill” and a host of other hits. That performance was a highlight during several rough years. After losing their home and almost all their belongings to the floods, his wife of more than 50 years, Rosemary, died in April 2008. Domino moved to the New Orleans suburb of Harvey after the storm but would often visit his publishing house, an extension of his old home in the Lower 9th Ward, inspiring many with his determination to stay in the city he loved. “Fats embodies everything good about New Orleans,” his friend David Lind said in a 2008 interview. “He’s warm, fun-loving, spiritual, creative and humble. You don’t get more New Orleans than that.” The son of a violin player, Antoine Domino Jr. was born on Feb. 26, 1928, to a family that grew to include nine children. As a youth, he taught himself popular piano styles — ragtime, blues, and boogie-woogie — after his cousin left an old upright in the house. Fats Waller and Albert Ammons were early influences. He quit school at age 14 and worked days in a factory while playing and singing in local juke joints at night. In 1949, Domino was playing at the Hideaway Club for $3 a week when he was signed by the Imperial record company. He recorded his first song, “The Fat Man,” in the back of a tiny French Quarter recording studio. “They call me the Fat Man because I weigh 200 pounds,” he sang. “All the girls, they love me, ’cause I know my way around.” In 1955, he broke into the white pop charts with “Ain’t it a Shame” — but actually sang the lyrics as “ain’t that a shame.” The song was covered blandly by Pat Boone as “Ain’t That a Shame” and rocked out years later by Cheap Trick. Domino enjoyed a parade of successes through the early 1960s, including “Be My Guest” and “I’m Ready.” Another hit, “I’m Walkin,’” became the debut single for Ricky Nelson. Domino appeared in the rock ‘n’ roll film “The Girl Can’t Help It” and was among the first black performers to be featured in popular music shows, starring with Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers . He also helped bridge rock ‘n’ roll and other styles — even country/western, recording Hank Williams’ “Jambalaya” and Bobby Charles’ “Walkin’ to New Orleans.” Like many of his peers, Domino’s popularity tapered off in the 1960s as British and psychedelic rock held sway. Domino told Ebony magazine that he stopped recording because companies wanted him to update his style. “I refused to change,” he said. “I had to stick to my own style that I’ve always used or it just wouldn’t be me.” Antoine and Rosemary Domino raised eight children in the same ramshackle neighborhood where he grew up, but they did it in style — in a white mansion, trimmed in pink, yellow and lavender. The front double doors opened into an atrium with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and ivory dominos set in a white marble floor. In 1988, all of New Orleans seemed to be talking about him after he reportedly paid in cash for two Cadillacs and a $130,000 Rolls-Royce. When the salesman asked if he wanted to call his bank about financing, Domino smiled and said, “I am the bank.” In 1998, he became the first purely rock ‘n’ roll musician to be awarded the National Medal for the Arts. But he cited his age and didn’t make the trip to the White House to get the medal from President Clinton. That was typical. Aside from rare appearances in New Orleans, he dodged the spotlight in his later years, refusing to appear in public or even to give interviews. Like BlackAmericaWeb.com on  Facebook .
