April Ryan, Andrew Gillum, Angela Rye, and Bakari Sellers all made a recent appearance together on the network during one of its morning shows, and it appears the chemistry was undeniable. Page Six reports : We’re told the cable network hopes to hire regular CNN contributors April Ryan, Andrew Gillum, Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers as panelists for a brand-new show. The plan was kicked into high gear following the positive response the group received after appearing on the network’s morning show, “New Day With Alisyn Camerota and John Berman” during the Democratic debates last week. “It was the most excitement on that morning show since Chris Cuomo left as co-anchor,” a source told us. “CNN is fast-tracking talks … to develop it into a stand-alone show. The early chatter is that it could start as a weekend show that would rival MSNBC’s programming with Joy Reid, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Kendis Gibson.” Sounds promising. According to USA Today , this is exactly what happened when an Alabama man broke into a woman’s house. Cops say they responded to a domestic dispute call on Thursday and found Larondrick Macklin, 31, with burns on his face. He reportedly broke into the woman’s house armed with a gun and she defended herself by throwing a pot of hot grease on him. A detective with the Decatur Police Department said he learned that Macklin was the “primary aggressor in the altercation.” He was taken to the hospital after the hot grease was thrown in his face. Macklin was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree domestic violence. He was taken to jail after receiving medical attention and in lieu of $300,000 bond. Perhaps people are considering the ways religion has been used to oppress people church membership across the entire nation has declined significantly . It might have something to do with people leaning into spirituality over religiosity. And being in church all my life, until today, I recognize that there is quite a bit of foolishness that transpires within the four walls of the church. There are some who would argue that we shouldn’t speak ill of the church, that we should seek to highlight the positive. While there is certainly more room to speak about all the good that has come to and through church. But if you love something or someone, you want them to do and be better. And that only comes through critique. With that in mind, we’ll be sharing some stories from church that will make you realize that the church has some work to do if they want to remain a viable entity in the coming decades. This first story of folly comes from a storefront church in a borough in New York City. This is not the church I currently attend but circumstances found me in this particular church one day. I consider myself in touch and in tune with my spirit and from the minute the pastor started speaking in this place, I knew it wasn’t where I needed to be. In fact, I had a physical reaction to being in the space. I was shaking with anxiety because I knew so much of what was happening, what was being said had very little to do with Jesus, his daddy or his homie the Holy Spirit. So I vowed never to set foot in there again. Luckily for me, it’s one I’ve been able to uphold. And after I learned of a subsequent issue from that church, I knew I’d made the right decision. Months after I’d attended and advised my friend to leave as well, he sent me a troubling voicemail. Let me give you the prophetic right now. This building—because of what he did to the church, any business that come in here will never prosper. I know y’all don’t like when I get in the prophetic but I will proclaim it as a prophet of God. I release it that nothing will prosper here. It don’t matter what they put. I release it and it shall be so. Watch and see. That hair salon that will come here? Six months. That liquor shop that they got planned for? Five weeks. Watch God. It will not stand. They will always have to have a sign up there and he will never get anyone to stay permanently. It will never happen. I curse this building. I curse it in the name of Jesus. Y’all don’t like it but that’s alright. I curse it today. Then, the pastor took it a step further. And I curse his loins! Someone in the congregation shouted, “Oh! That’s what I’m talking about.” The encouragement worked. The pastor continued, getting louder. “You mess with God and God gon’ mess with you! I saw today his firstborn will die! I curse this building by the blood of the lamb. Too long. Six years of hardship. You pay the rent and they still bother you. Six years of trouble and because of that, I release one of the greatest curse in this neighborhood.” The crowd claps and there are sporadic amens. “I say it in Jesus mighty name.” As the pastor takes her seat, someone laughs at the landlord’s pending misfortune. Then the next person stepping up with the pulpit quotes scripture to support the pastor’s claims, “Touch not God’s anointed. I don’t even have the time to break down the levels of wrong here. Do New York landlords have a tendency to be greedy, predatory and difficult? Yes. But squabbling over money before you ultimately decide to leave a space anyway, doesn’t warrant the death of this man’s firstborn child. For those of you a little rusty on your biblical stories, this curse on the landlord’s firstborn is a reference to Moses and Pharaoh. When Moses was trying to convince the Pharaoh to let his people leave bondage, God sent seven (or 10 depending on how you count) plagues to the land of Egypt. Water turned to blood. The kingdom was overrun with frogs, lice, and flies, livestock died, the people developed boils, there was hail, locusts, darkness and lastly the firstborn children in every family died—unless their house was covered by the blood of the lamb. Even if the landlord was a true asshole, I doubt he did anything as heinous as keeping an entire population of people in slavery. But the gag is, God sent those plagues. And He did it to prove that He was God. Not Moses. I think we all know that God is the only one who can give and take life. When it comes to Jana Duggar, nearly every celebrity gossip fan out there only has one question to ask: IS SHE OR ISN’T SHE? Are these folks asking if — like so many other members of her famous family — Jana is pregnant? LOL, no. She would need to actually be married first, and to be married she would need to be courting first, and that’s what this inquiry is really all about. But followers appear to disagree; they seem to think happiness is a new man in her life and they’re desperate to know whether any romance is on the horizon for Duggar. “Would love to see you finding your handsome prince,” one person wrote in the comment section of one of Jana’s California posts, prompting the reality star to actually respond. “Maybe he’s riding in on a green turtle instead of a white horse,” she wrote in reply, adding: “Still searching for Mr. Right. In the words of Michael Bublé, “Just haven’t met [him] yet!” This clap back is interesting for two reasons: The Michael Buble song “Haven’t Met You Yet” was released in 2009. What a random reference a decade later! Could Jana have been hinting here that she’s actually dating Lawson Bates?!? Rumors of a Lawson Bates-Jana Duggar relationship have been running rampant on the Internet for ages now. We last wrote about this possibility as recently as July . Why would some social media followers infer from Jana’s above response that she’s with Bates? Because Duggar mentions a turtle in it and because Lawson shared a photo of himself holding a turtle on Instagram on July 15, 2019. That’s it. That’s the reason. Jana’s response was also interesting to many of her supporters due to her “Mr. Right” phrasing — because there’s been some talk out there about whether or not she’s a lesbian. Earlier this year, Duggar addressed rumors that she was dating her friend Laura DeMasie , who is often shown hanging out with the Duggar family (and specifically Jana) on Counting On. “No,” Jana replied previously to a fan online questioning her and Laura’s relationship status. “And I would like to stop that rumor. … and she’s back! On Monday night’s brand new episode of Teen Mom OG, Mackenzie McKee made her return to the franchise that made her semi-famous all those years ago as a cast member on Teen Mom 3. And she wasted no time stirring up the sort of controversy that Bristol Palin, who McKee has basically replaced, could never bring to the series table. After filling viewers in on the major changes in her life — such as her relationship troubles with husband Josh and the health status of her mother, Angie Douthit, who has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer — Mackenzie jumped right back into the swing of things. By which we mean the following: She accused Josh of cheating! McKee explained on air how she’s struggling to keep up with her children while they were home for the summer. Moreover, since rodeo season was approaching (meaning Josh will be on the road for long stretches of time), the reality star was unsure how to handle all these kids and keep up with work. And then the real drama kicked in… After Josh left to compete in a rodeo, Mackenzie received a text from a woman who alleged that her husband went out to a bar and cheated on her — and Josh was with him at the time. Because their romance had been solid for awhile, Mackenzie had no idea how to react to this claim. But she chose to be direct. When Josh arrived home, she grilled him about this supposed night out without her. What happened? Did he cheat on her?!? “There was no affection or anything like that there,” he said. “I’m just here to tell you that I was at a bar, and I’d like you to trust me when I’m getting a few drinks at a bar . . . I was just avoiding the fight, and I was wrong.” Josh tried to reassure his concerned wife that he’d never go behind her back by being with another woman — but McKee didn’t seem convinced, especially once Josh said he couldn’t promise he’d always tell her where he was going. (Editor’s Note: What the heck, dude?!?) Fromt here, Mackenzie went to see her parents to discuss the situation, getting an update from her mom in the process. It turns out that doctors wanted to start Angie on a new type of chemo, yet she wasn’t sure she wanted to go through with it. Why the heck not?!? “I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that only God can heal me,” Angie said, continuing as follows: “The only reason I’m continuing with all these treatments is, yes, I want to live, but it’s for you guys. I don’t want you to think, ‘Mom gave up. Mom quit. Mom stopped.’ I’m not gonna do that.” We really can’t imagine going through anything like this. “I just want to see you get better. That’s all I want, and if it doesn’t happen I’m gonna get really mad,” Mackenzie said through tears. She added: “It’s like all my siblings were this perfect cup of glass and I was a cup of glass that was shattered, and you were the glue that was holding it all together. The retailer has appointed a new executive to ensure they do right by all cultures. High Snobiety is reporting that the luxury brand has named Renée Tirado as their first-ever Global Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; previously she held the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer role for Major League Baseball. The announcement is a direct response to the now infamous blackface controversy in February where the Italian brand was selling a sweater with a roll up collar that evoked feelings of blackface. In a statement obtained by The Independent Tirado expressed her enthusiasm at the opportunity. “I am in the business of making human connections that start with the foundations of inclusivity, respect, and diversity to ensure Gucci remains culturally relevant and economically competitive.
