Derulo has previously been linked to his “It Girl” music video co-star Tika Sumpter… who, as bad luck would have it, will actually appear opposite Sparks in the upcoming remake of Sparkle on the big screen. She begged. She pleaded. She was rejected. Despite issuing a statement last week that made it appear as if she were totally cool with being let go from The Real Housewives of New York City , sources confirm that Alex McCord went to producers over the weekend and asked for her job back. They said no. “Bravo doesn’t want to cut the relationship, Alex and [husband Simon van Kempen] are nice people, but as for the show and them they are done,” an insider tells E! News. “They will be asked to make guest appearances on other Bravo shows, perhaps as judges, or in guest spots – expect to see them in one form or another. They don’t want to burn a bridge.” The McCords were making $275,000 per season and will now need to find a new platform on which to plug their new line of Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, Aluxe Home. For The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , the show went on last night . Following weeks of scrutiny and questions over whether Bravo would postpone the premiere, edit it heavily or even cancel the season following the suicide of Russell Armstrong , viewers watched an episode not too different from the one originally filmed. (A scene where Taylor goes lingerie shopping was cut.) Before getting to exciting material such as who drank out of $550 champagne glasses , though, the installment opened with the ladies sitting around and discussing the tragedy, as seen here: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2 Opener The suicide clearly had to be addressed in some way, but the cast takes time here talking about Russell’s financial woes and the pressure in Beverly Hills to be rich… only to then spend an hour flaunting their wealth. As Mary McNamara of The L.A. Times put it, Armstrong’s death “turns the show into a creepy necro-party game, it shatters the suspension of disbelief required for these shows to succeed.” Lisa Vanderpump, Adrienne Maloof and Kyle Richards, meanwhile, then went on The Today Show this morning: What do you think of how the show has handled Russell’s death?

The 911 call placed after the shocking August 15 discovery of lifeless Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Russell Armstrong has been released. Be forewarned, it is upsetting. Russell Armstrong’s suicide came weeks before the return of the Bravo show (it’s still set for Sept. 5). Here’s what happened when he was found: Russell Armstrong 911 Call Moments after the body of Armstrong at a friend’s home where he was staying, you can hear the caller say, in no uncertain terms, “My friend just hanged himself, do you understand? Come over here and stop asking questions.” Russell’s estranged wife Taylor Armstrong was also there, with the friend consoling her, saying “Come here Taylor, it’s alright, it’s alright.” The 911 dispatcher asked about the status, at which point Russell’s friend made it clear Armstrong was deceased. “No, there’s nothing you can do,” he said. “There’s nothing we can do. Just please come as soon as possible.” The RHOBH will air a special episode dedicated to the incident.

It’s on a very different level than the tragedy of Russell Armstrong’s suicide on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , but another installment in this Bravo franchise is facing yet another scandal. Matt Holmes – the father of Ashlee Holmes and former lover of Jacqueline Laurita (pictured) – has been arrested in Texas for arson, insurance fraud and money laundering. He and his wife, Jodi Sue, were booked for a fire that destroyed their home in March. According to Radar Online, a witness has come forward and said Matt started the fire in order to collect on a $429,000 insurance policy. The couple then allegedly used this cash to purchase items such as a diamond ring. Local authorities are working with the FBI on the case, but Ashlee has already taken to Twitter to defend her father: “FYI- my parents have NOT been indicted..this whole thing was started by a disgruntled employee..they are INNOCENT &that’s all i have to say.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has turned more real than ever, in the most tragic of ways. TMZ reports that Russell Armstrong, who appeared often on this Bravo series last season and who filed for divorce from Taylor Armstrong this summer in light of abuse allegations , hanged himself Monday night. He was 47. Around 8 p.m. PST, authorities responded to a 911 call placed by one of Russell’s roommates. They found his body hanging in the bathroom of his home on Mulholland Drive when they arrived. In late July, Taylor went public with accusations that Russell shoved her and threw objects at her during their marriage. She was quick to say he’s always been an “amazing dad” to the couple’s five-year old daughter, however. A few days ago, Taylor gave an interview in which she previewed the ” emotional ride ” ahead for her when The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills returns on September 5, as her failing marriage to Russell is expected to play a major role on season two.
