On last night’s episode of “Braxton Family Values”, we got a deeper look into Tamar’s singing career, Traci’s dreams of opening a salon, Towanda and Andre’s marriage issues and Toni’s failing assistant. While all the sisters are in L.A, Traci decides that she wants to either open up a hair salon in Maryland or continue singing backup with her sisters. After asking for her sisters help and advice, she decides that she wants to pursue the hair salon and even takes a quick class while in L.A. Towanda and Andre are still having marriage issues after Towanda shares with him that she has been asked by Toni to come to L.A and whip her new assistant into shape. Andre complains that Towanda is putting her sisters ahead of his needs which causes more distance in their relationship. Once Towanda gets to L.A., she finds out that Toni’s assistant needs more help than she expected. Toni asks Towanda to stay in L.A for a little while longer and help her out as much as possible, which will definitely cause even more problems with her and Andre’s relationship. Tamar has decided to begin working on her album. Her husband, Vince, helps hook her up with a studio session with one of the best producers in the game, however, with Tamar’s ego and big mouth, she feels like his skills are rather mediocre compared to her singing abilities and she decides to seek help elsewhere. The only problem is that she decides to do this without talking to her husband first, and wants to have a “musical affair” with a well established producer named Harvey. Once she finally gets up enough courage to share this with her husband, they have a small argument which ends with Vince saying, “I’m done with this” and Tamar getting up and walking out of the room. After a successful season one, our favorite sisters; Trina, Towanda, Traci, Toni, Tamar and Mama Ev are back for round two of love, laughs, family and sisterhood. With the new season premiering tonight on WeTV, I had to catch up with our girl, Trina Braxton, and chat about what to expect this season. Take a look at my exclusive interview where we talk about her drinking “situation”, direction her marriage is going in, status on Tamar’s husband and being compared to the Kardashians. HelloBeautifu l: What can we expect to see this season? Trina Braxton: This season is crazy! It’s like season one amped up on super steroids! You get a glimpse of everybody’s life on this season. You’ll get to understand why I started drinking and why I gained so much weight. You’ll get to see my marriage issues play out. It’s basically an extension of season one. HB: Since you brought up your drinking “situation”, why did u start drinking so much in the first place? Trina Braxton: Well it was mainly because of what was going on in my relationship with Gabe. On this season, you’ll get to see where Gabe and I are going in our relationship. HB: Whats going on with the Braxton family album? Trina Braxton : You know, we’re still trying to figure that out. We’re actually still in the process of filming season two so we’re still trying to figure everything out! HB: So, how does that work: filming a season as it’s already premiering on the network? Trina Braxton: You’re getting everything as it’s really unfolding. It’s unscripted reality- and not that there is anything wrong with scripted reality. We’re going to keep it raw and true to the minute. You won’t see us fighting or anything. HB: We saw the sneak peak of Tamar getting put in her place by Mama Ev! Is this something that happens regularly whenever your baby sister gets out of line? Trina Braxton: The crazy thing is that we haven’t seen that episode yet so we’re watching it at the same time you all are! I will say that Mama does NOT play and if she feels like anybody disrespects her whether it be me, Tamar, Towanda, Traci or Toni or whoever, she’ll let them know! HB: I know that you are super close with all of your sisters, but is there one sister that you would consider your best friend over the rest? Trina Braxton : Like you said, we’re all each others best friends. We’re all extremely close but we do go through seasons and situations in our lives that bring us closer together. Like right now, Towanda and her children were staying with me for a while as you saw on the show so I would say that we’ve gotten extremely close over the past months. HB: How does the Braxton family maintain such a positive reputation in the media? Trina Braxton: Now, we are girls first and we are sisters so of course we argue and fuss and we know how to push each other’s buttons. But we also know how to build each other up. That comes with true sisterhood. We know how to make each other go “rawr rawr like a dungeon dragon” but we know what it takes to make each other happy and make each other smile. HB: How do you respond to people who compare you to the Kardashian clan? Trina Braxton: The thing is, you can’t look at them without looking at us too. There are a lot of similarities. We’re a family of girls, we have the same initials, we come from strict Christian backgrounds. Our show is about family and togetherness-and this is not to bash the Kardashian family in anyway- but our show isn’t about creating a brand, it’s about focusing on family and what happens in the day to day lives between sisters. Toni has always been a star, but you have never seen this side of her. You never saw what she was going through when she filed for bankruptcy , you never knew she was sick. There is a realness to this show that you can identify with and I think that everyone that watches has a sister that they can identify with. HB: Are you working on any solo projects? Trina Braxton: I am in the band. This season the band is doing some extra things and I am so excited because I am branching out and doing my own band. We have some tricks up our sleeves! This is Ayesha Niles. She spent her eighteenth birthday in a Miami-Dade County jail on Monday after trying to live out rap lyrics in real life. Via CNN.com An 18-year-old woman who was arrested after nearly 30 pounds of cocaine was found hidden in cake mix boxes in her suitcase will be charged as an adult, according to a Florida state attorney’s office. Ayesha Niles, who lives in London, was traveling from Jamaica to London with a stopover at Miami International Airport on Friday when she went through a routine luggage check. “Twenty-four boxes of cake mix in your luggage,” Ed Griffith, spokesperson Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, told CNN. “It just seemed extremely unusual.” It was unusual enough that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agent sent Niles to the inspection area for a second screening. According to the arrest affidavit the boxes of cake mix contained a total of “+/- 29.30 pounds of powder cocaine.” According to the state attorney’s office the estimated street value of the cocaine in London is $650,000.00. The affidavit says Niles told law enforcement that the boxes were placed in her luggage in Jamaica but she was not aware of what the boxes contained. Niles was arrested on charges of trafficking of cocaine and transporting of a control substance. Niles turned 18-years-old this week and because of her age of majority and the seriousness of the crime the state attorney’s office has filed notice that she will be charged as an adult. Niles, who is still in the juvenile system currently, could not be reached for comment. “This is an extremely serious charge,” Griffith said. “She is looking at minimum mandatory prison time upon a conviction.” If convicted Niles could be sentences up to 15 years in prison for each count. In cake mix boxes though? Pray for these babies, y’all.
The ladies (and Tamar’s hubby Vince) of “Braxton Family Values” made a visit to Atlanta last week for some very special screenings of the first episode of their second season. The first stop was at Spelman College’s Homecoming week Wednesday where Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci (Toni was in LA filming) screened the new season’s premiere episode for 300 Spelman students and participated in a lively Q&A that ended in a brief a capella song by the Braxtons. Thursday night new ATL hotspot Frank Ski’s Restaurant played host to a private dinner with the Braxtons which included an episode screening and Q&A for local press. The Braxton sisters along with Mom Evelyn (aka “Miss E”) were all smiles and laughs as they dished on life after the first season, their love lives, upcoming album projects and that feisty Tamar! As Miss E put it, “You’ll have to watch and see what happens!” So she may say, but we were there and we’re more than happy to provide some spoiler alerts, but we still encourage you to tune in for the good old fashioned entertainment. Well this should make for an interesting family dynamic on the upcoming season of “Braxton Family Values”. According to Billboard reports : Los Angeles-based entertainment/production company The Collective has signed Grammy Award-winning singer Toni Braxton and up-and-coming singer/songwriter BC Jean for worldwide career management. The announcement follows the company’s recent signing of singer/actress and Destiny’s Child founding member Kelly Rowland. A six-time Grammy winner, including best new artist, Braxton stars with her sisters on the WEtv reality series “Braxton Family Values,” which has been renewed for a second season. The R&B singer’s most recent album was 2010′s Pulse. The project, Braxton’s fifth top 10 on the Billboard 200 (debuted/peaked at No. 9) and fourth No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, has sold 149,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. Craig Baumgarten of Santa Monica, Calif.-based Baumgarten Management & Productions, continues to represent Braxton for film and television. Damn… Maybe Vince was just too busy with GaGa?
Toni Braxton recently revealed to her family that she IS going to pose nude for ‘Playboy’ magazine. Her family goes back and forth with her decision with no backing from her mom: “I think a lot of men will have problems with that,” her mother told her. Tamar Braxton, little sister to Toni, but breakout star of WeTV’s “Braxton Family Values,” sat down with Necole Bitchie to discuss the relationship with her big sister, rumors of her plastic surgery and what we can expect from her music. What’s been the hardest part thus far? Reading the blogs. Vince keeps telling me not to read the blogs and the comments but it’s hard. Everyone has something to say and how they perceive you is based off of one hour of television a week. And the rumors – did I bleach my skin? Did I have plastic surgery. On plastic surgery: I had a nose job. But not for the reason everybody thinks. I was born with no cartilage in my nose, and it made breathing very difficult. And the SNORING? Oh My God! So I’ve had a couple surgeries – the first time they put an implant in and I had to have it removed – so eventually they took some cartilage from my ear and put it in my nose. Oh and that HURT! They want me to have a third procedure but I’m trying not to have it. But this is something that runs in our family. My father had the same thing done, and so did Toni. I believe everyone should do anything they need to do to make themselves feel good. It’s the same reason why people don’t just eat whatever they want. They don’t want to be fat as hell. You don’t want to look like a Hotmess.com! So you do things to fix it…Plastic surgery is the exact same thing. On Toni’s illness: You know this is something that is actually really hard for me, hard to talk about. For the longest time I thought Toni was just being lazy, laying down all the time. I really didn’t understand. So when we found out she was sick, I really felt bad. And I think I’ve had the most guilt about this so I probably go a little above and beyond to try to help her out. But it’s tough. Some days you know she’s not feeling well. It hurts to talk about this. On her music: I’m all over the place! I’m a little rock, a little soul and I’m someone’s wife so I have to make sure I’m presented in a respectable way. I can’t be gyrating on stage half naked.
