30-year-old Sheyla Hershey expected to get attention from her chest after a surgery in June increased her bust to a world record setting 38KKK, but she didn’t anticipate it would be because her implants were threatening her life. The 5′3″ native Brazilian who lives in Houston, has undergone 30 plastic surgery procedures costing more than $40,000. Most of these operations have been to increase her bust, but she has also had work done on her nose, lips, and butt. Because Texas limits the amount of silicone that may be inserted into a human body, Hershey was forced to received her latest implant upgrade in Brazil, which implanted a gallon of silicon into Hershey’s chest. A month after the surgery, Hershey reported… http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/dailyloaf/2010/07/14/the-world80%99s-larges… added by: Alfie_Creative_Loafing

Amazon Storm Killed Half a Billion Trees

A violent storm ripped through the Amazon forest in 2005 and single-handedly killed half a billion trees, a new study reveals. The study is the first to produce an actual tree body count after an Amazon storm. An estimated 441 million to 663 million trees were destroyed across the whole Amazon basin during the 2005 storm, a much greater number than previously suspected. In some areas of the forest, up to 80 percent of the trees were killed by the storm. A severe drought was previously blamed for the region's tree loss in 2005. “We can't attribute [the increased] mortality to just drought in certain parts of the basin — we have solid evidence that there was a strong storm that killed a lot of trees over a large part of the Amazon,” said forest ecologist and study researcher Jeffrey Chambers of Tulane University in New Orleans, La. From Jan. 16 to Jan. 18, 2005, a squall line — a long line of severe thunderstorms — 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) long and 124 miles (200 km) wide crossed the whole Amazon basin. The storm's strong winds, with speeds of up to 90 mph (145 kph), uprooted or snapped trees in half. When trees die, they release their stored carbon into the atmosphere, which contributes to climate change. In a vicious cycle, these storms could become more frequent in the future due to climate change. To calculate the number of trees killed by the storm, the researchers used satellite images, field studies and computer models. They looked for patches of wind-toppled trees, which allowed them to distinguish from trees killed by the drought. “If a tree dies from a drought, it generally dies standing. It looks very different from trees that die snapped by a storm,” Chambers said. The storm wiped out between 300,000 and 500,000 trees in the area of Manaus, Brazil, alone. The number of trees killed by the 2005 storm was equal to 30 percent of the total human-caused deforestation in that same year for the Manaus region. The researchers used the tree loss in Manaus to estimate the tree loss across the entire Amazon basin. “It's very important that when we collect data in the field we do forensics on tree mortality,” Chambers said. “Under a changing climate, some forecasts say that storms will increase in intensity. If we start seeing increases in tree mortality, we need to be able to say what's killing the trees.” The study, funded by NASA and Tulane University, will be detailed in a future edition of the journal Geophysical Research Letters. added by: JanforGore

Amazon Storm Killed Half a Billion Trees in Two Days

Photo via TomekY If you thought unscrupulous logging practices were the only threat to the world’s largest rainforest, then think again. According to a new study, one extremely powerful storm in 2005 resulted in the deaths of an estimated 441 million to 663 million trees along the Amazon basin in just a matter of days, releasing an untold amount of carbon into the atmosphere. What’s worse is that as global temperatures rise from CO2 emissions worldwide,

Carlos Santana Proposes To Drummer Cindy Blackman Onstage

‘Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other,’ legendary guitarist says in a statement. By Kelley L. Carter Carlos Santana performs in Tinley Park, IL on Friday Photo: Daniel Boczarski/Redferns Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, 62, proposed to his girlfriend, 50-year-old drummer Cindy Blackman, onstage at his concert in Tinley Park, Illinois, on Friday. After she accepted, the couple kissed and fans cheered on the moment. “Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other,” Santana said in a statement released to MTV News. “Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share.” The proposal came right after Blackman, a noted jazz percussionist who has worked with Lenny Kravitz and Cassandra Wilson, joined Santana for a drum solo on his track “Corazon Espinado.” Santana is about two months into the first leg of his Universal Tone Tour and is currently preparing for the release of Guitar Heaven: Santana Performs the Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, his first studio album in six years. The tour’s next leg kicks off in late September — right around the release of the new project — with a monthlong stretch in Europe. No wedding information has been released yet, but this will be Santana’s second marriage. His first was to Deborah Santana, his wife of 34 years; she filed for divorce in 2007. Share you well wishes for Carlos and Cindy in the comments below! Related Artists Carlos Santana

50 Cent Attacked By Fan Onstage In Brazil

Fan tackles Fif during performance of ‘Ayo Technology.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe 50 Cent (file) Photo: Getty Images 50 Cent is known for getting involved in beef with other hip-hop artists, and at least one of the star’s followers appears to have been influenced by the rapper’s aggro persona. Video of a fan bum-rushing the rapper during a performance in Brazil was posted on RapRadar.com . The footage shows the attacker briefly clutching the rapper before being taken down by security. About midway through his performance of “Ayo Technology,” a fan in a hat and jeans runs onstage and grabs 50 as the rapper leads the crowd in an amped-up rendition of his Justin Timberlake-assisted hit. However, security is right on the heels of the fan and quickly tackles and slams the attacker onto the ground. A man in a white T-shirt (identified in some Web reports as G-Unit member Lloyd Banks) then gets in a few punches before the attacker is hauled offstage. Although he appears somewhat shaken up at first, 50 barely misses a beat and continues to spit the rest of the song, despite the melee. 50 Cent recently embarked on the Invitation Tour in the U.S., and afterward, the star and his G-Unit crew headed to Brazil on Friday for a string of dates. Overzealous stage-jumpers aside, 50 said fans can expect a lot of variety from his upcoming stage shows. “Because of the technology, there’s no real mystique to your actual performance anymore. After the first show, that’s gonna be on YouTube. So I have to keep changing the set so that it’s not the same show every night,” 50 told Cleveland.com. “I got so much material, I could actually perform for three hours straight, so it’s easier for me to make the decision to change music than a newer artist that doesn’t have that kind of catalog, where they can keep switching songs to play music that people are going to enjoy.” Related Artists 50 Cent

Paris Hilton Marijuana Charges Dropped in SAfrica

A court in South Africa has dropped a marijuana-smoking case against Paris Hilton. The socialite appeared late Friday in a FIFA World Cup courtroom after being arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana at a quarterfinal match between Brazil and the Netherlands. The authorities dropped the charges against Hilton, after her co-accused, Jennifer Rovero, “acknowledged to be in possession of cannabis, and pleaded guilty,” said Brig. Sally De Beer, a spokeswoman for South African police. When told the case had been dropped, Hilton said “thank you” and left the courtroom. Hilton wrote on Twitter later: “Hey guys, there's a lot of crazy rumors going around. Just want you all to know the truth. Everything is completely fine. I was not charged or arrested, cause I didn't do anything.” She said she was helping police with their investigation. “Everyone was super nice and friendly to me,” Hilton wrote. “I love South Africa! Such an amazing place, especially during The World Cup! Hope that clears everything up.” http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100703/ap_on_en_ot/af_south_africa_paris_hilton added by: ibrake4rappers13
