Black Hooters Waitress Says She Was Fired Because Of Hair Color A former Hooters waitress is now the middle of a discrimination lawsuit with her ex-employer. The 25-year-old Baltimore resident claims she was fired because she refused to change her hair color after being told that “ black women don’t have blonde hair ” and ordered to remove the color or lose her job. via CBS Baltimore The popular restaurant chain Hooters–accused of racial discrimination by a former employee in Baltimore. And it all centers around her hair. Specifically, the complaint alleges white waitresses are allowed to have highlights in their hair, but black waitresses are not. Farryn Johnson’s blonde highlights–now at the center of a complaint filed with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights. “My other coworkers, they all had different colors in their hair, like red and blonde highlights. I didn’t think it would be an issue,” she said. Johnson, 25, was fired from her job as a waitress at Baltimore’s Harborplace Hooters in August after she was told by managers her hair color violated employee image standards. “They gave me write ups and they told me I need to take the color out of my hair. And they said I couldn’t have blonde in my hair because I’m black. They specifically said ‘black women don’t have blonde in their hair, so you need to take it out,’” said Johnson. “What’s wrong is that both federal and state law clearly say employers can’t impose two separate and distinct rules governing employee standards–one for African-American employees and one for everyone else. And that’s clearly what Hooters did here,” said attorney Jessica Weber, Brown Goldstein Levy. This sounds like a clear cut case of discrimination to us…..what do you think, Bossip fam?
Earlier this week Young Dro opened up to our homies at The Breakfast Club morning show about his struggles with his daughter’s mother and how they inspired his current hit “FDB”. Dro accused his daughter’s mother of keeping him out of his child’s life and exposing her to a gay lifestyle (she’s currently in a relationship with another woman). Earlier today the woman who the song is allegedly about reached out to BOSSIP exclusively to clear the air. Here’s what she had to say. I feel that i should say something because I have been quiet about this since this song became the “babymomma anthem” since it’s release. I am tired of hearing his fabricated interviews using me as the backdrop or storyline to FDB, It’s ridiculous. Yes it’s been 2 years not 3 as he stated that he has seen his little girl. Djuans whole segment on the FDB IS COMPLETELY FABRICATED. He lies so much ITS SICKENING,the only time he is not lying is when his mouth is SHUT. I Have lived in the same house for 7 years and NOT ONCE IN THE 2 YEARS HAS HE DROVE TO SEE HIS DAUGHTER(wheres the effort?) We live 30 mins away! I am not the typical “babymamma” that witholds the child for personal vindictive reasons. I have moved on and so has he. Dro has chosen NOT to complete the rehab treatment center he was in which was our agreement. My reasons for suspending his unsupervised visits in his home is about safety amongst other reasons that are through no fault but his own. I won’t go into details of the choice of drug(s) (let’s just say it ain’t the color green)because I respect my daughter enough not to completely air out our dirty laundry(and I’m ITCHING to do it) because at the end of the day that’s still her father and she has to live with this. I am just SICK AND TIRED of his lame a$$ interviews slandering me for entertaining purposes!! I needed to get that off my chest. FYI My gf and I got together long after Dro and I broke up. My girlfriend has been more of a Parent/Man in these last 2 years than he has Ever been in our daughters entire life. Sick and Tired of the Lies, Tamika Now Dro admitted in the same interview to abusing kush and molly… So is his daughter’s mother saying he’s doing worse? The Bieber and Brown bromance goes back a few months. In May, the former Tweeted out a pair of him and the controversial artist, while Brown gave a radio interview in April that compared his negative media attention to that of The Biebs. “I pray for him, I pray for myself,” Brown told Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club at the time. “I think we both go through it, because we’re great artists and he’s a big artist to his fans.” The pair also collaborated on the track “Next 2 U” in 2011 and both contributed verses on an Asher Roth single in June.
