Hugh Hefner and Jenna Bentley dating

For those of you wondering, Jenna Bentley#39;s 21. Hugh Hefner was 63 when she was born. Honestly, I don#39;t see what the big deal is. I mean, it#39;s not like he was 67. Jenna had already learned how to walk well before Hef turned 67. When I put it in those terms, it#39;s not so “weird” anymore, is it? Hater. Pacific Coast News is asking the question “Does Hef have a new girlfriend?” after Hugh Hefner has been seen lately getting close to model Jenna Bentley (here and here is what she looks

Joe Scarborough Rips Liberal MSNBC Colleagues Schultz and Olbermann On-Air

Does he want to lose his job at MSNBC the way Donny Deutsch did ? Joe Scarborough seems to have a devil-may-care attitude towards criticizing his outspoken colleagues, liberal blowhards Ed Schultz and Keith Olbermann. Simply refer to past episodes here , here , here and here . While not mentioning them by name on today’s “Morning Joe,” Scarborough featured outlandish barbs from his colleagues Schultz and Olbermann as examples of what not to do in trying to “keep calm and carry on,” as the show was trying to preach to its viewers. For the second straight day, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” ran a segment titled “Keep Calm and Carry On” – Scarborough’s favored slogan of late, he even features in his profile picture on his Twitter account – dedicated to throwing water on the political fire created by the fringe Left and Right and promoting more calm, moderate, bipartisan candidates and positions. Tuesday’s segment featured a game show format where Joe and co-host Mika Brzezinski asked questions with obvious answers – for instance, does such-and-such rabid quotation by such-and-such talk show blowhard merit the label “Keep Calm and Carry On?” Scarborough’s second question began thus: “If you’re a liberal radio and TV talk show host, and your goal is to keep calm and carry on, do you say of a Republican politician who’s just had a life-threatening heart attack, quote, ‘We ought to rip his heart out, and kick it around, and stuff it back in his chest’?” That question referred to Ed Schultz’s nasty rant from this past February, where he derided conservatives for complaining that Dick Cheney’s recovery from his heart attack was being used as a political football for health care. “You’re damn right Dick Cheney’s heart is a political football,” Schultz ranted. “We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him. I’m glad he didn’t tip over. He is the new poster child for health care in this country.” Two questions later, Scarborough again used an MSNBC colleague’s words as an example of hate-speech. “If you’re a liberal cable host, and you want to keep calm and carry on, do you accuse the President of the United States, who happens to be a Republican, of being a fascist, and a liar, who urinates on the Constitution?” he asked columnist Mike Barnacle. That question referred back to Olbermann’s August, 2008 smear of President Bush’s administration as “urinating on the Constitution.” It seems quite fascinating that out of all the hate speech from liberal talk show hosts on radio and television, Scarborough chose to feature barbs from two of his colleagues. Then again, MSNBC isn’t exactly a harbor of calm and collected debate. A partial transcript of the segment, which aired on September 21 at 6:43 a.m. EDT, is as follows: JOE SCARBOROUGH: Calling out the “Professional Left” and the far-Right, a campaign of ours to kind of calm everybody down, because we find – and we found out in New Hampshire this past weekend, we’ve seen it everywhere from Maine down to South Alabama, to Florida, to Alabama, to West – Americans are tired of all the screaming and shouting, so we’re trying to encourage sort of the chattering classes – to keep calm, and carry on. A noble gesture, is it not? JON MEACHAM: Absolutely. I would expect nothing less. (…) SCARBOROUGH: Question: If you’re a liberal radio and TV talk show host, and your goal is to keep calm and carry on, do you say of a Republican politician who’s just had a life-threatening heart attack, quote, “We ought to rip his heart out, and kick it around, and stuff it back in his chest.” MIKA BRZEZINSKI: That’s a no-brainer, Willie. WILLIE GEIST: Life-threatening, or did it cost him his life? SCARBOROUGH: Life-threatening. He’s still alive – these guys aren’t very good at this. BRZEZINSKI: It’s a new game. GEIST: Yes. SCARBOROUGH: No. GEIST: You said “threatening.” SCARBOROUGH: “Life-threatening.” No, I’m sorry. (…) SCARBOROUGH: Question: For the t-shirt. If you’re a liberal cable host, and you want to keep calm and carry on, do you accuse the President of the United States, who happens to be a Republican, of being a fascist, and a liar, who urinates on the Constitution? Now Mike, I would suggest that “urinates on the Constitution,” as well as “liar” and “fascist,” would be a clue for you. MIKE BARNACLE: It is, it is, and I don’t need a lifeline for this one. Yes. (Pause) C’mon, give me the t-shirt. That was the right answer, wasn’t it? It happens all the time! SCARBOROUGH: It does happen all the time. We have, actually, some re-educating to do. BRZEZINSKI: We do.

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 2010

A Hong Konger strolls under lighting of small bulbs set up at popular Victoria Park to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Like ancient Chinese poets, Hong Kong people appreciate the beauty of the full moon in the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Wednesday September 22, 2010 this year. Chinese people believe that on that day, the moon will be the biggest, roundest and brightest, and the term #39;round#39; implies family reunion in Chinese. T

Nutty Professor Pleads for Extinction of All Carnivorous Animals

Better enjoy the Lion King while you can. Flipper could also be gone soon. If a certain nutty professor has his way, all lions, dolphins, as well as all other carnivorous animals on this planet would be selected for controlled extinction for the “high crime” of eating meat and causing suffering in other animals. I kid you not. In a long, rambling, seemingly endless opinion piece in the New York Times that comes off like a bizarre mixture of Dr. Strangelove and Professor Irwin Corey , Rutgers philosphy professor Jeff McMahan makes the case for playing God in the animal kingdom because of his assertion that God was flawed for allowing animal suffering in the wild: Viewed from a distance, the natural world often presents a vista of sublime, majestic placidity. Yet beneath the foliage and hidden from the distant eye, a vast, unceasing slaughter rages. Wherever there is animal life, predators are stalking, chasing, capturing, killing, and devouring their prey. Agonized suffering and violent death are ubiquitous and continuous … … Suppose that we could arrange the gradual extinction of carnivorous species, replacing them with new herbivorous ones.  Or suppose that we could intervene genetically, so that currently carnivorous species would gradually evolve into herbivorous ones, thereby fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy.  If we could bring about the end of predation by one or the other of these means at little cost to ourselves, ought we to do it? For the nutty professor from Rutgers, the answer to the latter question would be “yes.”  The big question your humble correspondent has is why the New York Times allowed this insanity to be published in their newspaper. The only answer I could come up with is that an editor at the Times must hate Professor McMahan so much that he decided to allow the Nutty Professor to unwittingly subject himself to public humiliation and ridicule. For another example of professorial nuttiness, check out this assertion from McMahan that we must play God…in order to correct God’s “flaw” in allowing innocent animals to suffer from the attacks of carnivorous species: The continuous, incalculable suffering of animals is also an important though largely neglected element in the traditional theological “problem of evil” ─ the problem of reconciling the existence of evil with the existence of a benevolent, omnipotent god. The suffering of animals is particularly challenging because it is not amenable to the familiar palliative explanations of human suffering. Animals are assumed not to have free will and thus to be unable either to choose evil or deserve to suffer it. Neither are they assumed to have immortal souls; hence there can be no expectation that they will be compensated for their suffering in a celestial afterlife. Nor do they appear to be conspicuously elevated or ennobled by the final suffering they endure in a predator’s jaws. Theologians have had enough trouble explaining to their human flocks why a loving god permits them to suffer; but their labors will not be over even if they are finally able to justify the ways of God to man. For God must answer to animals as well. And here is the Nutty Professor fantasizing about playing God: If I had been in a position to design and create a world, I would have tried to arrange for all conscious individuals to be able to survive without tormenting and killing other conscious individuals.   McMahan concludes his voluminous piece with a final fit of supreme nuttiness: Here, then, is where matters stand thus far.  It would be good to prevent the vast suffering and countless violent deaths caused by predation.  There is therefore one reason to think that it would be instrumentally good if  predatory animal species were to become extinct and be replaced by new herbivorous species, provided that this could occur without ecological upheaval involving more harm than would be prevented by the end of predation.  The claim that existing animal species are sacred or irreplaceable is subverted by the moral irrelevance of the criteria for individuating animal species.  I am therefore inclined to embrace the heretical conclusion that we have reason to desire the extinction of all carnivorous species, and I await the usual fate of heretics when this article is opened to comment. Trust me, no animal in the wild has ever suffered as much as I did by reading Professor McMahan’s insanity in its entirety. So would that give me the right to call for the extinction of a certain Nutty Professor?

WaPo Warns of ‘Far Right’ Ken Cuccinelli, But Virginia’s Democrat Stars Are ‘Centrists’

The Washington Post’s undisguised loathing for conservative Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is on display again Tuesday. Post reporter Anita Kumar put him on the “far right” and questioned the propriety (and even the constitutionality) of his working relationship with other Republicans in Richmond.  Kumar began by noting a list of Cuccinell’s “controversial” legal opinions, that “police could check the immigration status of those stopped by law-enforcement officers, that the state could impose stricter oversight of clinics that perform abortions and that local governments could allow religious holiday displays on public property.  In each instance, the request for the opinion came from the same person: Del. Robert G. Marshall (Prince William), a like-minded Republican who shares Cuccinelli’s far-right views .” Kumar obviously asked it this “symbiotic relationship” was unconstitutional legal activism that goes around the legislature: Observers say their relationship has become symbiotic — one that helps each promote themselves and advance their interests — but in a way no one envisioned before. “It’s not unconstitutional,” said A.E. Dick Howard, a law professor at the University of Virginia and one of the drafters of the modern Virginia Constitution. “It’s just not contemplated. It’s outside what the framers of the Constitution would have seen.” Democrats, who hold narrow control of the state Senate, accuse the pair of attempting to make an end run around a divided General Assembly, which had already considered — and rejected — similar proposals regarding abortion and immigration. “It circumvents the people’s elected representation,” Sen. R. Edward Houck (D-Spotsylvania) said. “It seems to me perfectly obvious what’s going on. They are now using this legal activism.” Notice the Post has no labels for the Democrats. Kumar ends with a liberal legislator (no label, just a Cuccinelli opponent): Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple (D-Arlington), who often opposed Cuccinelli in the Senate, said she predicts that the General Assembly will try to stop his actions through bills and amendments when the legislature returns in January. “It’s an element of checks and balances,” she said. The completely politicized Post is obviously nervous that Cuccinelli will seek the governor’s office or challenge their heartthrob Sen. Jim Webb in 2012. Kumar isn’t looking to put any Democrat on the “far left” in Virginia, or even describe them as liberal. On the American Conservative Union scale, Webb has an average score of 14. Sen. Mark Warner has a 24. But Kumar sold Warner as a “pro-business centrist” even while he raised taxes. Matthews Scolds Obama: ‘Stop Saying Cutting Taxes Is Giving People Money – It’s Their Money!’

A truly shocking thing happened on Monday’s “Hardball”: Chris Matthews, the man who once proudly boasted about getting a thrill up his leg when Barack Obama speaks, actually scolded the President on national television. Maybe even more surprising, the MSNBCer told the object of his affection, “Stop saying that giving people tax cuts is giving people money. It`s their money!” The unashamed liberal host continued, “A tax cut is when the government doesn`t take our money. It`s an important distinction” (video follows with transcript and commentary): CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: I have one small tweak to make to what the president said today — he should stop saying that giving people tax cuts is giving people money. It`s their money! A tax cut is when the government doesn`t take our money. It`s an important distinction. He talked today, for example, about people getting a check from the government in the form of a tax cut. That`s not the way it works. If tax rates are kept lower, it`s a matter of the check going to the government being smaller. Again, it`s an important distinction. Wouldn’t it be nice if others on the Left along with their media minions understood this basic principle? After all, the way Democrats and press members have been talking about extending the Bush tax cuts lately, it’s as if we all work for the government and any money it deigns to give us we should be thankful for. That an unapologetic liberal like Matthews not only gets this but is also willing to say it on national television makes you wonder why all so-called journalists don’t agree. Errr – maybe not.
