Bristol Palin was as shocked as anyone that she made the Dancing with the Stars finals, but that doesn’t mean she feels she’s undeserving of her spot. “I’m thrilled! It hasn’t fully sunk in for me,” she told Us Weekly after Tuesday’s results show. “I know we’re in the finals, but it doesn’t seem real yet.” She knows that her final-three status is controversial, especially after this week’s elimination of Brandy , but Bristol said she’s not hurt by the skeptics. Could Bristol Palin actually WIN Dancing With the Stars? “I know I’ve worked hard to get where I am,” she said. “I definitely feel like I’m the most improved dancer on this show, so I’m comfortable with that.” Her pro partner Mark Ballas added that DWTS has a long history of “shocking” results, citing Sabrina Bryan, Joanna Krupa, Jennie Garth and Mel B. Still, her moves are so mediocre, it’s even harder to take her seriously on the dance floor than in the Bristol Palin-Situation PSA . What do you think? With Bristol Palin earning a place in the Dancing With the Stars finals , this week should have been a triumph for Alaska’s best-known family. No longer. Willow Palin, Bristol’s sis and the 16-year-old daughter of former governor/VP nominee Sarah Palin, went on a homophobic rant on Facebook this week. That’s what happens when fellow users bash her mom’s new reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska . Feisty teen grizzlies gotta stand up for their mama! Sarah Palin has taught Willow such good values. And grammar . Willow’s target, a person named Tre who goes to school with the Palin kids, wrote a status update the night of the TLC show’s premiere, which read: “Sarah Palin’s Alaska is failing so hard right now.” Willow Palin fired back, “Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I’ve seen pictures of, your disgusting. My sister had a kid and is still hot.” She later added, “Tre stfu. You such a f*ggot. I’m sticking up for my family.” Bristol Palin herself then came to her family’s defense as well, firing off a biting report to Tre, “You’re running your mouth just to talk sh*t.” What a class act this family is. The girls could have simply cited the ratings, which proved Sarah Palin’s Alaska was anything but a failure, netting over five million viewers . But alas. All hell broke loose between Facebook critics and the Palins, with Bristol lashing out at someone named Jon (while also taking aim at Levi Johnston). “You’ll be as successful as my baby daddy,” she wrote. WTF. There’s no other intro we can muster right now. It’s not anything new that Dancing With the Stars is more about popular support than technical merit, especially with mediocre, middle of the pack performers. But at some point, you’d assume the better dancers would be rewarded. You’d assume wrong, apparently. Bristol Palin will be joining Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey in next week’s finals, with a deserving Brandy on the sidelines. Somehow, Brandy and Maks will be watching, not dancing in the finals . No sooner had we talked about how Palin’s run personally irked Maksim Chmerkovskiy than he and Brandy got the boot Tuesday, despite great dancing Monday. A record-high number of votes made it happen, too. “One thing that I love, for my family, the choice they made to come to this country,” said Ukrainian-born Maks, taking the high road, “the fact that people vote and voices count. I love that this show represents that, the people’s choice.” “I don’t regret a second of the last five years of my being on the show and definitely not a second of me being on this season. It’s been an amazing journey.” Uhhnh, did Maks just pseudo-quit Dancing With the Stars? Apparently millions of voters felt she totally deserved it, but one person on stage didn’t look stunned, including Bristol herself and partner Mark Ballas. Imagine if she actually wins this thing next week. Can anyone derail the Bristol Palin express? We know she works her butt off , and there’s nothing objectionable about her on a fundamental level. But she can’t dance. It’s time for this to end. All we have to say is that Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey voters? You better be on your robo-texting game, because the Palin movement is no joke. Call it a conspiracy , call it pure enthusiasm for the teen mom next door. Whatever you want to label her, she’s one of the final three this season. Does Bristol Palin deserve to be in the finals?
