‘Breaking Dawn’ Director Talks Sex Scene ‘Adjustment’

By Amy Wilkinson Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Was the first cut of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” racy enough to be slapped with an R rating? In the December issue of Glamour UK, star Kristen Stewart revealed that Bella and Edward’s feather-strewn sex scene was so saucy that it had to be recut. “It was so weird, it didn’t even feel like we were doing a ‘Twilight’ film,” she recalled to the British mag. “I was like, ‘Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!’ It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They recut it.” Though director Bill Condon couldn’t confirm the R rating when MTV News recently spoke with him on the phone, he did reveal the edits necessary to earn a more teen-friendly PG-13 for the November 18 release. “It’s almost clinical the kind of strict guidelines [the MPAA] have about anything that appears to be — how do I put it delicately? That appears to be, let’s call it thrusting. In fact, you know, it was so much more about romance than it was about hot-and-heavy action, so it was a very kind of simple adjustment to make.” If re-editing the infamous sex scene was one of the simplest items on Condon’s honeymoon to-do list, one of the most difficult was scouting the location: the secluded Isle Esme owned by Carlisle Cullen. “We went to Brazil where it was at, that felt important to us,” he said. “There are very few houses built on the water because it’s against the law. So they’re mostly built up, so it was hard to find a house that was like that. It took us — wow — we were five hours outside of Rio and then a boat trip of 40 minutes to get to this one island that had the house that we wanted.” It was a good thing Condon was satisfied with the locale seeing as he and the crew spent several unexpected extra hours there. “We spent four days there and one night, when we had this incredible hurricane and couldn’t get off the island,” he said. “Eighty of us slept in the house on the floor and in bathtubs. Get Well Soon: Adele Cancels Tour Dates To Get Surgery To Repair Her Vocal Chords

Adele’s gotta get that voice that’s earned her millions together. Adele, the British soul singer who has dominated the music charts in the United States and Britain all year with her album “21” (XL/Columbia), will undergo surgery to repair her vocal cords and has canceled her scheduled concerts for the rest of the year, Columbia Records announced. The singer has been plagued with medical problems related to her voice. Early this month she canceled a tour of several American cities – the second time during the year she had been forced to cancel concerts here — saying she had suffered a hemorrhage near her vocal cords and had been ordered to take an extended rest. But on Friday Columbia said in a statement that Adele would have surgery to fix the problem. Though she is expected to make a full recovery, the label said that “doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.” Ticket-holders for the canceled concerts — six shows in Britain — will receive refunds, the statement said. First Child of Kate Middleton, Prince William to Inherit Throne Regardless of Gender

It’s official. Following a change in ascension rules , boy or girl, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be the next heir to the British throne. The leaders of the 16 governments with Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state have unanimously agreed to change the laws in their realms to allow this. Under current laws, the immediate heir is the first-born son of the monarch. Going forward, the immediate heir will be the first-born child of the monarch. That means if Prince William and Kate Middleton have a girl as their first child, she will be the future queen, regardless of whether one or more sons follow. British Prime Minister David Cameron said, “Put simply, if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were to have a little girl, that girl would one day be our queen.” Cameron personally applauded the move, adding that the UK stresses gender equality in all facets of life, making this a logical change to their traditions. Queen Elizabeth II’s son, Prince Charles, is next in line for the throne, followed by Will. The royal hunk will be the king of more than a dozen countries. Those nations are Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Papua New Guinea, St. Christopher & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tuvalu, Barbados, Grenada, Solomon Islands, St. Lucia and the Bahamas. Adele DFY After Throat Surgery

Adele’s vocal cords are in bad shape. After a year plagued with canceled tour dates and serious bouts of laryngitis, the British singer is on the shelf for the remainder of 2011 after throat surgery. Her record company announced the news with “deep regret,” confirming that all Adele’s concert dates and promotional appearances are cancelled until 2012. Adele’s label said in a statement : “She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.” It’s unclear when the 23-year-old – whose 21 is currently the bestselling album of the year – is expected to return, but the surgery will not impact her voice. No 2012 appearances have yet been set, but the Grammys are set for February 12. That would seem like an appropriate time and place for a comeback. Unlike the reaction of most Red Sox fans when they heard John Lackey will miss all of 2012 with Tommy John Surgery, here’s hoping Adele returns ASAP!

Justin Bieber covers the latest issue of Billboard Magazine and is asked about his Christmas duet with Mariah Carey during the interview. “That was high,” he says of the notes hit. “But I grinded it out and we got it down.” It’s Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, who gets the most attention from this article, however. Read how he compare his client’s fame to The Beatles: “All the hype and the kids running down the street screaming, you lose the chance to say that this started because of the music. This album lets the music speak for itself. I don’t want to draw comparisons, but there was a band during the British Invasion that had girls screaming at them. I think you know who I’m talking about.” That’s high praise. Is Bieber worthy of it? Do you think he’ll have a bigger career than The Beatles?

Jessica Donaldson: Hooking Up With Prince Harry?

Has Prince Harry found love with tattooed cocktail waitress Jessica Donaldson while he’s stationed with the British Army for training in Southern California? Debatable, but they’ve probably hooked up a few times. The prince was enjoying a night off at San Diego’s Andaz Hotel about two weeks ago when Jessica Donaldson caught his eye, Britain’s The Sun reported. Donaldson, a striking brunette who serves drinks at the hotel, sort of looks a little like a trashier Kate Middleton . In any event, they totally hit it off! Harry and Jessica shared a kiss before Harry left the Andaz, witnesses told The Sun . Since then the two have been seen out on the town on several occasions. The two were most recently spotted at the Belly Up Tavern in nearby Solana Beach, Calif., where they kissed on a balcony and watched a jazz band perform. Donaldson is a long-haired beauty with a giant floral tattoo on her right side, as seen above. “She is full of energy, a bit wild and goes out a lot,” a pal said. Sounds like fun. Nice work, Jessica.
