The singer turned 30 this year, marking the landmark birthday on December 2 with a fan-voted MTV News tournament that crowned the Best Britney Video of All Time . But her 30th year also proved to be an incredibly successful period in her career. For the first time in a while, she seemed comfortable being the pop megastar that she is. More than a decade into her career, Spears re-emerged as a Femme Fatale, giving fans a fist-pumping album, embarking on a flashy tour and dropping more memorable music videos. Britney Spears fandom was reenergized as the singer came out of her shell, opening up about this phase in her career as well her personal life in several high-profile interviews. So it’s probably not surprising that Spears will cap off the year at #4 on MTV News’ Top Newsmakers of 2011 list, just behind Lil Wayne. “When I was younger, I was busy, busy, and I was always singing and dancing all the time. I was just really creative,” she recalled in the MTV special “I Am the Femme Fatale.” “That’s when my mom realized I’m a really creative person.” She let that creativity shine over the past 12 months. Ever since Britney Spears got engaged to Jason Trawick last week, celebrities everywhere – and even K-Fed for that matter – have been wishing her all the best. One of more vocal supporters over the years (really) has been 50 Cent, who told told reporters at the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul concert in NYC how happy he is. “I am so happy for her,” the rapper said , before musing, “Britney Spears had a rough time. The press took the biggest opportunity ever to dog her.” “When you reach that point, you work really hard to get where she is. It’s very interesting because the public likes to build you to destroy you for entertainment’s sake.” “I’m just really happy for her to be happy.” Fiddy continued by saying he thinks Britney is ready to be married for a third time (before K-Fed, she wed high school pal Jason Alexander for 55 hours). “I hope she is,” he remarked. “Wouldn’t you like to hope that? Third time’s a charm and we hope this is it for our girl Brit Brit… Britney Spears had a pretty sweet celebration Friday night to celebrate her engagement to fiancé Jason Trawick. After arriving in Las Vegas, the couple headed to Planet Hollywood where they checked into their 3,100-square-foot suite designed by former Top Design host Jonathon Adler. Spears, donning a short, nude Herve Leger dress, stepped out a few hours later and revealed her highly-anticipated Neil Lane sparkler during a congratulatory welcome on the hotel’s mezzanine. Planet Hollywood Chairman Robert Earl presented Trawick with an oversized birthday cake in a quick ceremony. And what better place to end the night than Paris’s Chateau Nightclub. Surrounded by friends, Spears, 30, and Trawick, 40, hung out in their own private VIP table overlooking the club’s dance floor. “Britney seemed happy, holding Jason’s hand,” an onlooker said. They retreated to a private area after 1 a.m., but Spears was “dancing up a storm” until nearly 4. Details on the ring: Britney Spears may be a pop-star diva to the rest of the world, but to beau Jason Trawick, “she’s his everyday princess,” says celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who designed Spears’s dazzling engagement ring to befit Trawick’s vision of the singer’s down-home regality. “Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!” With that theme in mind, Lane tells PEOPLE he designed from scratch a tiara-motif sparkler with a round, perfect white diamond in a handmade platinum setting that “looks like a mini crown,” the celebrated jeweler says. He also added 90 small round diamonds around the eternity band. “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone,” he adds. “He’s deeply in love with her. Britney is his princess and he is her knight in shining armor,” he says. “Jason’s protective of her. He adores her. Singer is reportedly engaged to marry boyfriend Jason Trawick. After a report surfaced on TMZ that the singer’s longtime beau and “Criminal” co-star Jason Trawick planned to pop the question Friday night (December 16) in Las Vegas, the singer took to Twitter early Friday and had this mysterious message for her fans. “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for,” she wrote . “Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo” A rep for the singer hadn’t responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. TMZ further reports that Jason asked Britney’s dad, Jamie, for his daughter’s hand before he popped the question. According to reports, Britney already knew about the engagement and the couple will sign a prenuptial agreement. As for her conservatorship, her conservators have signed off on the couple’s plans to marry; a judge will most likely give them the go-ahead to tie the knot. A source tells Usmagazine.com that Trawick asked his lady love to marry him on Thursday night while the two were at a romantic dinner celebrating his 40th birthday. The couple will celebrate the engagement at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Friday. “This is something they’ve both wanted for a long time,” the source told the site. “It’s a way to cement their family. They’re both extremely happy and can’t wait to become man and wife.” While there’s no confirmation from Spears’ camp just yet about the engagement, Spears did reveal something on Twitter: what she bought Jason for his birthday. “Hbday Jason! The reigning queen of hip-hop spent 2011 climbing the charts , hitting the road and racking up a slew of awards . ‘First Date’ With Outasight: The Pepsi Connection

Singer’s ‘Tonight Is the Night’ is featured in Pepsi campaign alongside footage of Kanye, Britney and Michael Jackson. By Steven Roberts Outasight In all honesty, most people are probably more familiar with Outasight ‘s song “Tonight Is the Night” than they are with him. And that is in no way a knock on Outasight. After all, the song is a big part of Pepsi’s “Who’s Next” campaign, having been featured in the soft drink company’s latest legacy commercial, which includes footage from past Pepsi ads featuring Kanye West , Britney Spears and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson . But hopefully those commercials will start to win Outasight some attention. The song actually debuted on the second episode of Fox’s reality competition show “The X Factor,” and it’s been slowly gaining momentum ever since. The Dori Oskowitz-directed video for the pop, party anthem was dropped early last month, and it features Outasight and friends preparing, embarking and wrapping up an incredible — or typical — night of fun in New York City. The Yonkers MC and singer is already seven mixtapes deep in his relatively short career, and his still-unnamed debut album is expected next year. He’s been making music for as long as he can remember, but it wasn’t until he discovered he could combine both of his talents of singing and rapping that he found he could really be Outasight. “Singing and rapping were separate entities,” Outasight said. “Then Mos Def and artists like that inspired me. I saw you can do it — you can sing and rap and make it gel. I started taking my craft more seriously and just kept working on it. It’s just a natural thing. It’s never planned out.
