‘There are so many great Britney songs to choose from, how do you pick just one?’ Naya Rivera asks. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Kara Warner “Glee” cast in the Lady Gaga-themed episode Photo: FOX The cast of “Glee” are used to mimicking some of the most iconic pop artists of our time, including Lady Gaga and Madonna . And when the show returns for its second season this fall, the castmembers will be gleeking out over another very special pop singer: none other than Britney Spears . “The reason we’re doing it is because so many of the kids on the show say, ‘We grew up with Britney. We want to do Britney,’ ” show creator Ryan Murphy told MTV News about the upcoming Britney-themed episode . The “You Drive Me Crazy” singer is already slated for a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in the episode, meaning that the spotlight won’t be on Spears herself. Instead, it’s the adoring “Glee” cast’s turn to pay tribute to one of their favorite singers, with rumors floating around that leading lady Lea Michele is set to hone in on Britney’s schoolgirl days with “… Baby One More Time.” And actress Heather Morris told MTV News that she wants to channel her inner “Toxic.” But she’s not the only castmember making requests. “I think Kurt would sing ‘Circus,’ ” actor Chris Culfer said when asked about the upcoming Spears-centric episode. “Just so he can wear a top hat.” Amber Riley, who plays the divalicious Mercedes Jones, laughed at Culfer’s suggestion, and it’s certainly hard to blame her. For her own part, Riley sees “Stronger” as a natural fit for Mercedes’ boisterous, self-assured personality. “I like that song,” she assessed with a nod. Still, there are other “Glee” castmembers — like Naya Rivera, for instance — who aren’t too concerned about which Britney number they end up covering. Britney Spears Repertoire Has ‘Glee’ Cast Gleeking Out
Despite previous reports that Britney Spears would not personally appear on the Glee tribute episode devoted to her, creator Ryan Murphy says she will ! Just last week, star Jane Lynch said that the episode was very much in the works, musically and plot-wise, but the pop singer herself would not appear . So much for that. On Ryan Seacrest’s radio show today, Murphy said Brit is 100 percent “going to be on the episode,” likely as a dental assistant to John Stamos’ character. “The Britney episode is so reverential about her and so kind and it’s about her music and it’s not about her personal life,” Murphy revealed to Seacrest. The girl on the right has shown her face many times from about 2005-present, but Britney Spears on the left will be the focal point of Glee’s tribute episode . “And I think, Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she’s been through a lot. And I wanted to do something that just sort of says, you know what, ‘thank you for who you are and what you have done.'” Hopefully that includes a head-shaving, as rumored. Regardless, it should include a rendition of “Baby One More Time,” as this Lea Michele pic shows. Even if Leicester Bryce Stovell is the father of LeBron James, it’s unclear why this random dude would be entitled to any money. Conversely, it’s crystal clear why so many sports fans are trashing James today: the egotistical superstar didn’t simply abandon his hometown of Cleveland for the Miami Heat – he did so in a ridiculously staged primetime special in front of a national audience. We’d go off on LeBron more, but Cavs’ owner Dan Gilbert says it all in an email he posted on the team’s official site last night. Aside from telling a reporter that James “quit” in the playoffs, Gilbert wrote to fans: This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal. This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become. But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio… I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only: DELIVERING YOU the championship. That would-be Britney Spears-themed episode of Glee the singer’s manager Tweeted about in a shameless attempt to cash in on the Fox series’ buzz? It’s totally on! We’re as surprised as anyone, but show creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that he’s writing an episode dedicated to her. More than 13.5 million people tuned in to a Madonna-inspired episode last April. Can a Britney-themed episode come close to that total? Probably. Will it be any good? That’s another story. GIMME MORE GLEE! Britney Spears’ music is coming to the second season of the hit show. Hopefully the Glee cast all goes to Starbucks in honor of the pop princess . Not everyone on the show, which was nominated for 19 Emmys, will be thrilled. Last May, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, actually scoffed at the idea : “I hope our show doesn’t go along that route,” he said. We sort of hoped they wouldn’t, too, but perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised. It just doesn’t seem like she has the kind of catalog or musical style to fit the show. Lady Gaga and Madonna have more vocal talent. Breathy moans, suggestive lyrics and auto-tuning might sell records, but how will they translate on the program? What Britney song would make the best Glee cover?

After spending three years as the face of Candie’s , Britney Spears has stepped into a new role: designer. She’s co-created her own line, Britney For Candie’s. “I love the black trench coat,” Britney said. “You can wear it over your outfit or as a dress. There’s also an amazing studded skirt that’s perfect for going out.” “I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girly,” she added . “I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection.” Britney Spears is all smiles (for once) at a Candie’s photo shoot . Of the design process, she says she met with the designers first, and “we sketched the items together. I loved it when I saw the samples for the first time.” The pop icon also said that because her “personal style is mix of comfortable and flirty, I love cute little dresses but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans.” You know there are no bras in the collection. Just saying. It’s great to see our girl taking on a bigger role in the clothing line that bears her name.
