Tornadoes Blast Queens And Brooklyn During Crazy Azz East Coast Storms! [Video]

The Mid-Atlantic was rocked with storms yesterday. Rain, hail, 60 mph winds, and Tornadoes touched down in New York! As a swirling mass of black cloud swept over the Rockaways on Saturday morning…not one but two tornadoes ripped through parts of Brooklyn and Queens, causing as much bemusement as terror among New Yorkers unaccustomed to such aggressive weather. One tornado ripped through a beach club in Queens, one of several outbursts of severe weather across the New York region that flooded roads, felled power lines, and forced the delay of the United States Open. A second tornado touched down in Canarsie, Brooklyn, the National Weather Service said. The swirling columns of wind and water in Queens, captured by dozens of people on cellphones and almost instantly posted on the Internet, lasted only minutes, according to witnesses. But in that short time the tornado tore down walls, lifted roofs off homes and tangled power lines as it cut a path through the Rockaways, near Breezy Point. Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, who arrived in Breezy Point on Saturday afternoon to assess the damage, said there had been no reports of injuries. The second tornado struck Brooklyn about 11:30 a.m. with a speed of 110 miles an hour and traveled about half a mile, the Weather Service said. The severe weather was expected to continue into the night as a cold front moving in from the west made its way into the area, meeting up with the warm, moist air ahead of it and causing instability in the atmosphere. The storm delayed the start of the United States Open and forced the women’s singles final to be postponed until Sunday. Hit the flip for more scenes from the storm.

Rewind The Track: Proud Papa Hov Brags On Baby Blue Ivy’s Baller Status On “3 Kings”

Jay-Z Says Critics Couldn’t Walk In His Daughter’s Socks The Jiggaman isn’t sparing his lil princess Blue Ivy from being spoiled in the least and he’s letting the whole world know it in song: She’s only six months old, but Jay-Z guarantees that Blue Ivy Carter’s footwear collection is already more impressive than yours. That’s the message behind the proud papa’s latest guest verse on “3 Kings,” Rick Ross’ new single off his upcoming God Forgives I Don’t. (Dr. Dre is also featured on the track.) Boasting about the “millions” hanging on his walls (in the form of Basquiat paintings), Jay raps that his critics “couldn’t f— with my daughter’s room” — or “walk in my daughter’s socks,” for that matter. Since Blue Ivy’s January 7 birth, Jay-Z, his wife Beyonce, and their friends and family have gone all out to make sure their bundle of joy has the very best clothes, furniture, and accessories. In March, the tot was spotted rocking $66 Little Marc Jacobs Baby Mouse slippers during an outing with her mom; she also reportedly naps in a $3,500 lucite crib from NurseryWorks VETRO. In May, Jay (real name: Shawn Carter) opened up during a sit-down with Oprah Winfrey about his parenting philosophy. “Well, I mean, everyone imagines they’ll be a great dad,” he admitted. “Until they’re teenagers saying, ‘Get away from me, Dad. You’re embarrassing me!’ Right? Everyone imagines that, right?” Continued the Brooklyn, NY native, “I imagine I’ll take things I learned from my mom and things I’ve learned from raising my nephews and apply that,” he explained, adding with a laugh: “Then at the end of the day, I just know I’ll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.” And the irony of all this is… last time we saw Hov toting Blue Ivy she wasn’t wearing any footwear — socks or otherwise! But it’s cool, we get it. She’s rich beyond our wildest dreams. Sheeeeeit. PacificCoastNews Source

Brooklyn Nets Logo: Revealed, Black & White!

The New Jersey Nets are no longer. The Brooklyn Nets are the future. The newly-relocated NBA franchise even has a black-and-white logo, unveiled Monday at a sporting goods store on Flatbush Avenue, right across the street from its soon-to-be-completed home arena, the $1 billion Barclays Center. Check out the Brooklyn Nets logo below: Star center Brook Lopez was joined by coach Avery Johnson, General Manager Billy King, Bruce Ratner, the real estate developer, minority owner and catalyst behind the team’s relocation, and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. “Hello Brooklyn,'” Lopez said. “I’ve been waiting a long time to say that. It’s exciting.” No word if co-owner Jay-Z or soon-to-be free agent Kris Humphries were there.

Jay-Z Recalls Rise From Public Housing To Boardroom In Rocawear Ad

‘I don’t know if you’re ever done; it’s almost like climbing a mountain,’ Hov says in new clip. By Nadeska Alexis Jay-Z in the “Rocawear Presents Jay-Z From Marcy to Barclays” commercial Photo: Rocawear Even after 16 fruitful years in the game, Jay-Z continues to push himself, achieving new career milestones with each passing year. In a new ad for his Rocawear clothing line, titled “Marcy to Barclays,” the Brooklyn-bred mogul reflects on his rise to the top. “Marcy to Barclays” references Jay-Z’s investment in the NBA Nets and their transition to the newly constructed Barclays Center, which the team will inhabit in Downtown Brooklyn beginning this fall. The 30-second, black-and-white clip begins with snapshots of New York City and the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, where Jay grew up. “Wherever you grow up, it’s your root, and I’m a kid from the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn,” he begins in a voice-over. As the scenery changes to incorporate shots of Jay in the studio and at his Rocawear offices, the mogul begins to reflect on the drive that’s led him to so much success. “I don’t know if you’re ever done; it’s almost like climbing a mountain,” he says. “You see another mountain, then you go to the next one and the next one. “My goal was to have one gold album, and that was it,” he adds, considering the impressive arc of his career since his 1996 debut, with Reasonable Doubt. “Then it became … I want to show that artists can ascend to the executive ranks.” To say that Jay has achieved new career highs in the past year alone would be an understatement. In February, he performed a pair of sold-out charity shows at Carnegie Hall in New York, a groundbreaking moment for a hip-hop artist. “Any time I get a chance to expand and broaden the reach of hip-hop is a great thing for me on a personal level,” Jay told MTV News when he originally announced the pair of shows at Carnegie Hall.
