Hayden Christensen Wants Credit For Royal Pains

Just add “jilted creator/executive producer” to Hayden Christensen’s resume. The Star Wars actor and his brother filed a lawsuit yesterday against the USA network , alleging that the second-season series Royal Pains is a ripoff of their own idea. The Christensen brothers claim that in 2005, they pitched a concierge doctor show called Housecall to the network, and a USA executive even admitted that he had never heard of the profession before their meeting. This whole situation smells (unfortunately, not like the Christsensen-endorsed Lacoste . [ NYP ]

LeBron James Launches Twitter Feed

Basketball star accumulates 200,000 followers in 24 hours as he decides which NBA team to sign with next. By Kyle Anderson LeBron James Photo: Elsa/Getty Images For the past week, the country has been eagerly anticipating the answer to a pressing question. No, not “How will the Gulf of Mexico recover from this oil spill?” Rather, it is “Where will LeBron James play basketball next?” The dynamic and multitalented James, who is friends with Jay-Z and who last year starred in a documentary about his high school hoops team , became a free agent on July 1 and has been fielding offers from a number of NBA teams for his services. While he searches for a new contract (and possibly a new city), he recently acquired something he has never had before: his own verified Twitter account. James made his Twitter debut on Tuesday, identifying himself as the “King of Akron” in his bio description. “Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building ‘Finally,’ ” he wrote in his first (and so far only) tweet. “My Brother @oneandonlycp3 gas’d me up to jump on board so I’m here. Haaaa.” Clearly there was demand for James’ thoughts on the service, as he has accumulated nearly 216,000 followers in less than 24 hours. James was referring to fellow basketball star (and free agent) Chris Paul, who has been a star for the New Orleans Hornets and is also in search of a new home. Rumors have swirled that Paul and James would be signed together as a package deal, though they are both playing their decisions close to the vest. “Couldn’t convince him to tell me which team he’s goin to but convinced him to join twitter lol…my brother from another mother,” Paul tweeted . On Tuesday night, James said he would announce his decision during a special ESPN telecast on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET. Oddsmakers seem to believe he is headed to the Chicago Bulls, but the Cleveland Cavaliers (his team for the past six seasons), Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers have all made pitches to him. ‘Inception’: The Early Reviews Are In!

‘Leonardo DiCaprio finds the tortured center of his character,’ one reviewer writes. By Eric Ditzian Leonardo DiCaprio in “Inception” Photo: Warner Bros. Almost one year ago, the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” hit the web. It featured acrobatic fight sequences, hallucinatory imagery, and left us with far more questions than answers. Just what the heck was this movie really about, anyway? In the months that followed, Nolan slowly peeled back the curtain to reveal peeks at his top-secret follow-up to 2008’s “The Dark Knight.” Now, with the movie’s July 16 release date approaching, “Inception” has been fully unveiled to industry insiders, and the first reviews are beginning to pop up online. Here’s what folks are saying about the flick. The Story “Leonardo DiCaprio plays Cobb, an expert in what the film calls extraction, the theft of secrets or information from the subconscious mind,” Todd Gilchrist wrote in Cinematical.com . After botching a job thanks to the intrusion of his wife Mal (Marion Cotillard), Cobb finds an unlikely opportunity for redemption from one of his former victims: Saito (Ken Watanabe), CEO of a flourishing multinational, offers him amnesty in exchange for planting an idea — known as inception — within the mind of Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy), one of Saito’s competitors. Enlisting the help of teammates Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Ariadne (Ellen Page), Eames (Tom Hardy), and Yusuf (Dileep Rao), Cobb reluctantly agrees to the mission, only to discover that the mind’s defenses are more formidable than any physical threat he could face. Heist-movie plot details notwithstanding, the above description scarcely scratches at the surface of what’s in the film, and certainly reveals nothing of the deeper conceptual and thematic dimensions of its story.” The Look “Shot across four continents by Nolan’s regular d.p., Wally Pfister, and outfitted by production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas, ‘Inception’ is easily the director’s most visually unbridled work,” Justin Chang wrote in Variety. “Its canvas stretches from the skyscrapers of Tokyo to the bazaars of Tangiers, from an amber-lit hotel corridor to a snowy mountain compound (a setpiece that plays like an homage to ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’). Pic has arresting effects and images to spare, such as the sight of Paris folding in on itself like a book or Gordon-Levitt’s Arthur performing a fight scene in zero gravity (the explanation for which is even more dazzling).” The Performances “DiCaprio finds the tortured center of his character, a man who is part thief and part spy and whose own guilt-ridden subconscious stands to destroy his chances of succeeding at the proverbial one last job,” Jim Vejvoda wrote in IGN.com . ” ‘Inception’ is sort of a companion piece in a way to ‘Shutter Island,’ the year’s other mind-bender DiCaprio thriller. Gordon-Levitt — who, like DiCaprio, was a child sitcom actor — continues to prove he’s one of the brightest up-and-coming dramatic actors with his turn here. And although she has less screen time than the rest of the cast, Cotillard shines as the film’s closest thing to a femme fatale.” The “Matrix” Comparison “[T]here’s a sort of ‘Matrix’ action movie vibe about the [marketing] campaign, and despite some wild visual moments in the film, I wouldn’t describe this as an action film at all,” Drew McWeeny wrote in HitFix.com . “There are action beats in it, but all of them are ultimately in service of the emotional journey that Dom takes in the film, and as a result, the stakes seem so much higher than they would if it was just another movie where people were chasing around some empty Macguffin. Everything in this film … cities folding in on themselves, buildings filling with sudden floods of water, gravity that stops working, reality fraying at the edges … ties back in to whatever happened between Dom and his wife Mal years ago.” The Bottom Line “Following up on such ingenious and intriguing films as ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Memento,’ Nolan has outdone himself,” Kirk Honeycutt wrote in The Hollywood Reporter. ” ‘Inception’ puts him not only at the top of the heap of sci-fi all-stars, but it also should put this Warner Bros. release near or at the top of the summer movies. It’s very hard to see how a film that plays so winningly to so many demographics would not be a worldwide hit.” Are you excited to see “Inception”? Sound off in the comments below! Madina Lake Bassist Released From Hospital, Still Faces Brain Surgery

‘So we’d finally convinced the doctors to let me take Matthew home,’ brother and bandmate Nathan Leone posted on the band’s blog. By James Montgomery Matthew Leone of Medina Lake Photo: Jay West/ WireImage Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone — who was beaten and left unconscious last week after attempting to intervene in a domestic dispute — has been sent home from the hospital in Chicago, but still faces an uphill battle (including a second round of brain surgery) before he’ll be in the clear. That’s according to his twin brother and Madina Lake frontman, Nathan Leone, who took to the band’s blog on Monday to update fans on Matthew’s condition. “So we’d finally convinced the doctors to let me take Matthew home. He was going nuts in the hospital and they agreed that he would benefit from a more comfortable environment,” Nathan wrote. “The only goal at this point is [to] get him strong enough for his second brain surgery, which is scheduled for the 16th. “It’s going to be a tenuous couple of weeks, we’ll watch him 24 hours a day, make sure he sits still, rests and heals to the fullest extent possible,” the post continued. “We know from the doctors that his future prognosis remains guarded, since the permanency of the physical and neuropsychological damage is yet unknown.” As Nathan Leone told MTV News last week, his brother suffered a broken jaw and nose and a fractured skull after he attempted to break up a fight between a man and a woman on the streets of Chicago. As Leone called police, he was jumped from behind and left bleeding and unconscious. The beating was so severe, Nathan said, that doctors were forced to remove one-third of his brother’s skull to alleviate swelling on the brain. Chicago police have subsequently arrested 33-year-old Justin Pivec in connection with the attack, charging him with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to Leone and battery for the attack on his wife. And while Matthew Leone slowly recovers from the beating, his medical bills continue to pile up. According to Nathan Leone, neither he nor his brother has health insurance, and so, in order to help with their mounting bills, Madina Lake’s management have partnered with the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and Pledge Music to begin accepting donations on Matthew Leone’s behalf. Injured Madina Lake Bassist’s Prognosis Is Good, Brother Says

Nathan Leone says his brother, Matthew, is conscious after being savagely beaten while intervening in a domestic dispute. By James Montgomery Madina Lake’s Matthew and Nathan Leone Photo: Michael Burnell/ Redferns Earlier this week, Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone was savagely beaten and left unconscious after he attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute in his hometown of Chicago. He suffered a broken jaw, nose and a fractured skull, and doctors were forced to remove a third of his skill to alleviate pressure on his brain, which was swelling. For the past three days, Leone has been in and out of consciousness, and his twin brother — Madina Lake frontman Nathan Leone — has been at his side for every second. On Thursday (July 1), Nathan took a minute out of his vigil to speak with MTV News about the incident, and to give Madina Lake fans an update on Matthew’s condition. “I’ve been there for about 72 hours, next to him, constantly, and I basically just took an hour to go home and take a shower. I’m going back [to the hospital] now,” Nathan said. “[Matthew] had all kinds of injuries, and his brain was swelling, so doctors had to remove part of his skull and put it on ice while we wait for the swelling to stop and the hematoma to stop leaking. “It was touch and go for a while there, but at this point, things are starting to turn around, which is wonderful,” the singer said. “The first couple of days, he couldn’t recognize me or say anything coherent, but this morning he did. And he now he’s aware and talking and moving around a little, which is wonderful. So the prognosis is getting better by the hour.” Leone added that Chicago police have already made an arrest in connection with his brother’s assault. (The Chicago Police Department had not responded to MTV News’ request for information by press time.) Though what happened to his brother was terrible, Leone said that the reactions to the incident from Madina Lake’s fans and fellow musicians have also reaffirmed his believe in humanity. “The outpouring of support has been amazing,” Leone said. “Every band we’ve ever toured with, every Facebook and MySpace outlet has been going crazy with love and support. We’ve heard from friends, fans, neighbors, labels and management. It’s honestly overwhelming. When something horrible happens, you’re inclined to despise humanity, but this proves how many amazing people there are in the world.” While his brother drifted in and out of consciousness, Nathan read him some of the e-mails and comments Madina Lake fans had written him, and he believes their kind words are what helped him pull through. “I truly believe that,” he said. “They helped save his live.” And though Matthew Leone has now regained consciousness, he still faces an uphill battle. Nathan says he’s optimistic that his brother can leave the hospital “within the next three to five days” after the swelling has subsided. When he returns home, he’ll have to wear protective headwear until doctors can re-attach the portions of his skull. Even after all of that, there’s still one more hurdle he’ll have to face. “We don’t have health insurance. It’s a horrible coincidence, because as we’ve been on tour, it’s been hard to manage bills,” Nathan said. “And then you get home, and you start writing again, and the bills just become too hard to catch up with. So, no, we don’t have insurance. But we’ll deal with that when we have to.” Share your well-wishes for Matthew Leone in the comments below.

Chris Brown’s BET Awards MJ Tribute Was ‘Spectacular,’ Jermaine Jackson Says

‘He deserves to perform, because it’s healing for him,’ Michael Jackson’s brother tells ‘Extra.’ By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown performs during the 2010 BET Awards on Sunday Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Chris Brown wasn’t the only one getting misty-eyed at Sunday night’s BET Awards during his tribute to Michael Jackson . The King of Pop’s older brother, Jermaine, told “Extra” that he was also overcome with emotion during the dance routine, in which Brown paid homage to some of MJ’s most famous moves and then attempted to sing “Man in the Mirror” before being overcome with emotion and weeping onstage. “To see [Chris’] performance, it was very emotional for me, because it was an acceptance from his fans from what has happened to him and also paying tribute to my brother,” Jermaine said. “It was just a spectacular moment.” Fans and critics have been split on the performance, which some saw as the bursting of an emotional dam for the singer, making his first major public appearance since he pleaded guilty to felony assault in his assault of former girlfriend Rihanna last June. Others speculated that Brown may have manufactured the tears to gain sympathy from fans who abandoned him in the wake of the Rihanna attack. Jermaine Jackson said he thought Brown — a longtime devotee of Michael’s and, at one point, considered a modern heir to the R&B throne — had every right to pay homage to his brother. “He deserves to perform, because it’s healing for him,” Jermaine said. “How can he learn from his mistakes if you don’t give him a chance? He needs that. I love Rihanna, and I’m not supporting what he did, but I support him [as a singer] 100 percent. … I’m just very emotional just knowing what has happened. Chris Brown is a human being, and we all make mistakes. We can’t condemn him for what has happened. We hope he has learned from it.” Brown hasn’t made any public statements since the BET performance, but on Monday, he did tweet , “My fans are my world,” a follow-up to a message earlier in the day when he wrote, “I Love you … (ever single one of #teambreezy).” What did you think of Chris Brown’s emotional performance? Michael Jackson’s Brother Jermaine Celebrates King Of Pop On ‘Larry King’

The Jackson family still hasn’t ‘come to terms’ with MJ’s death a year later, Jermaine says. By Eric Ditzian Jermaine Jackson on “Larry King Live” Photo: CNN On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson’s family and friends gathered at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California, to lay the King of Pop to rest in the Grand Mausoleum. Almost one year later, shortly before the actual anniversary of his death, MJ’s brother Jermaine returned to the site to tape an interview with Larry King. “It’s been tough,” Jermaine told the talk-show host. “It went so fast. We’ve been just putting the pieces together and the family’s been having a lot of meetings and we’re just trying to hold on. We haven’t come to terms. It’s something we’re learning to live with. We will never accept it.” Speaking softly and quietly, Jackson said the inside of the mausoleum is dark and cold. “To walk this corridor, and all you hear is your footsteps. Michael shouldn’t be here. I always felt that,” he said, adding that MJ should have been buried at his Neverland Ranch estate. A year later, Jackson said Michael’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, are enjoying as normal a life as possible. They love movies, Jermaine said, though he is not sure if they’ve seen “This Is It,” the documentary about Michael’s final months as he prepared for what were to be his comeback shows in London. Jermaine also revealed that they do not visit their father’s gravesite at Forest Lawn. Each of the family members, Jackson said, continues to grieve in their own ways. And they continue to raise questions about the circumstances surrounding MJ’s death. Jermaine acknowledged that numerous interventions had been made concerning Michael’s use of various prescription medications but denied any suggestion that his brother did not want to live. Rather, Jermaine said the family believes Michael was murdered and that Dr. Conrad Murray , the singer’s personal physician who was charged with involuntary manslaughter as a result of MJ’s propofol overdose, is not the sole person responsible for the death. “All of us feel that he’s the fall guy,” Jermaine said. “It’s higher up than just the doctor. “He did say on numerous occasions, at times to my mother, that he felt that he was being threatened, someone was trying to kill him,” Jermaine added about his brother. While the Jackson family awaits the start of Murray’s trial , which they plan to attend, they lament the way the pop singer has been treated by the media, the public and prosecutors in the years before his death. “If you listen to the content of his lyrics and his music, that’s what he is, that’s what he wrote from his heart, from his soul,” Jackson said. “And it’s sad, because now people realize what kind of person he was all along. But he’s not here to see that. He got a bum rap because he was so misunderstand. He was trying to take the world on his shoulders and to bring an awareness to the world of what we need to do as people.” Related Videos Remembering Michael Jackson – One Year Later Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Michael Jackson: A Fashion Icon Related Artists Michael Jackson Jermaine Jackson
