Joe Jonas Celebrates 21st Birthday Onstage

‘I hope you can fit a car on there,’ Joe jokes as brothers Kevin and Nick surprise him with cake at Hershey, Pennsylvania, show. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas (file) Photo: Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images Joe Jonas celebrated a major milestone on Sunday when he turned 21. But his brothers decided to start the celebration a few hours early on Saturday night while onstage during a Hershey, Pennsylvania show. Kevin and Nick wouldn’t let Joe get through the Hershey Stadium concert without acknowledging his big day in front of their fans. In online footage , Kevin tells Joe, “I think it’s important that we celebrate with our friends as well. So we wanna bring out a little something for you, Joe.” Just before a cake was brought out to him, Joe joked, “I hope you can fit a car on there.” “In the meantime,” Nick said to the fans, “why don’t we sing happy birthday to Joe?” As the crowd sang out to Joe, Kevin’s wife, Danielle, and a female friend carried out the birthday cake but had some problems lighting the candles. With a little assistance from the birthday boy, one candle was lit, and then Joe took a second to think about what he wanted to wish for. “That’s really good cake,” Joe told fans as he took a bite. “Thank you, guys!” So, did Joe enjoy the big surprise? It seems so. He later tweeted , “:)… Ohhh boyyy… That show was amazing!” Although there’s no word yet how he celebrated his birthday proper, when the Jonas Brothers stopped by “Good Morning America” last Friday, Joe teased that some plans were in the works. “Besides a dog, I don’t know. That’s all I kind of wanted. I don’t know [what we’re going to do to celebrate]. These guys are not telling me what they’re doing.” In the days before his big 21st, Joe tweeted about his one birthday gift demand: “I had a dream last night I got a dog for my birthday. The dog had huge puppet eyes . When I picked it up he said ‘oh hey Joe.’ ” Nick also tweeted some birthday wishes, via their dad’s Twitter page. “RT @PapaJonas Big Day! Joe’s 21st Birthday, my 25th Anniversary AND JONAS LA tonight on Disney,” he wrote. Tourmate and “Camp Rock 2” castmate (not to mention ex-girlfriend) Demi Lovato was a bit late to the party, but made time to tweet Joe a birthday wish on Monday (August 16) writing, “Ah happy late bday @joejonas!” Share your birthday wishes with Joe in the comments below! Chinese Remake of Blood Simple Won’t Be That Simple

American remakes of foreign films have become so commonplace that even a statute of limitations barely exists anymore; Le Dîner de Cons — the French film that Dinner for Schmucks was based on — came out in 1998. So by those standards, Zhang Yimou’s Chinese conversion of the Coen Brothers’ Blood Simple — A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop — feels positively warranted. After all, it has been 26 years since the original came out.

Kevin Jonas Takes Fans Backstage At Jonas Brothers Tour

Oldest JoBro shows off the brothers’ entertainment center, dressing rooms and chill spot. By Jocelyn Vena Kevin Jonas on tour in Chicago Photo: MTV News Kevin Jonas and his brothers , Nick and Joe, are currently on tour with Demi Lovato and their “Camp Rock 2” pals , and while life on the road can be difficult at times, the guys have managed to bring along some of the comforts of home. When MTV News caught up with the brothers at their tour kickoff in Tinley Park, Illinois, we were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the guys’ home away from home. First up was the entertainment center. “We roll with this everywhere,” explained Kevin, with wife Danielle by his side. “We first built this on the ‘Hannah Montana’ tour. We were there, and we wanted something to be able to watch TV and stuff, and so they built this road case. It’s got gaming systems and everything.” Their dressing room has two closets: one shared by Nick and Joe, and one shared by Kevin and Danielle. “[This is] wardrobe. It’s kind of intense,” Kevin said of the two dressing areas. “Me and Dani, [ours] is over here. So we’ll travel and these cases come with us, and it has all our clothes in it, which was really nice. It allows us to not have to lug big suitcases everywhere we go.” Their dressing room wouldn’t be compete without a seating area that includes a very comfy, oversize couch, where Riley — Kevin and Danielle’s dog — likes to hang out. “This is where we chill and we just relax and spread our wings,” the oldest JoBro said. “This is our little friend, Riley. She’s our little girl. She kind of runs the place. She’s kind of become our mascot for our Road Dogs games . … She gets the job done.” What do you think of the Jonas Brothers’ home away from home? Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato Create New ‘Camp’ Memories At Tour Kickoff

Saturday’s concert in Chicago featured duets, dance-offs and a generous helping of older hits. By Jocelyn Vena Jonas Brothers perform in Chicago on Saturday Photo: Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images TINLEY PARK, Illinois — After Demi Lovato played a raucous set of her original songs, some old-school “Camp Rock” numbers and a few tunes from the September 3 Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock 2,” Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas hit the stage for the inaugural stop of their new tour at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on a steamy Saturday night. The Jonas Brothers got their half of the party started with “Feeling Alive,” “Hold On” and “Year 3000,” and girls were immediately screaming, singing and dancing on their seats. “How are you guys doing tonight? You excited for ‘Camp Rock 2′?” Joe asked the crowd before dancers hit the stage for an uptempo, country-tinged new tune from the soundtrack. The guys played a number of songs off the soundtrack, and when Kevin asked for fans’ opinions of the new songs, he received a resounding cheer. The crowd went nuts when Demi came onstage to sing “This Is Me” along with the boys. Joe and Demi also played their new duet, “Wouldn’t Change a Thing.” “You guys are awesome,” Demi told everyone before saying good night. The next part of the night belonged to “L.A. Baby,” from their “JONAS L.A.” TV show. That led into a cover of the Beatles’ “Drive My Car.” After “Paranoid,” Joe and Kevin gave their little bro, Nick, the stage for his solo “Who I Am.” “Thank you so much for loving me for who I am,” he told everyone. Nick was rejoined by his brothers and took to the piano for “Fly With Me.” Then, girls went crazy for the ballad “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” Telling the fans they were going to “take them back in time,” the Jonases played “Please Be Mine” as photos of the guys from over the years showed on a screen behind them. Then the stage was transformed into a swanky jazz club, complete with dancers in ’20s garb, for “Lovebug.” For the encore, brought out their hits “S.O.S.” and then “Burnin’ Up.” And on this sweltering night, it took little to make the crowd burn up themselves, but Nick stripping down to a tank top made the girls scream even more as the show drew to a close. Jonas Brothers Promise Old And New JoBros Hits On Summer Tour

‘I think from the minute you walk in to when the last note is played, it’ll be a full night of music,’ Kevin teased. By Jocelyn Vena Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News CHICAGO — While the Jonas Brothers will be joined by Demi Lovato and a number of their “Camp Rock 2” pals for their big tour, which kicks off Saturday outside Chicago, the guys want their fans to know that this is still very much a JoBros tour. And fans will get a bonus treat, thanks to all the special guests. “When you’re coming in to see the show, I think from the minute you walk in to when the last note is played, it’ll be a full night of music and entertainment,” Kevin told MTV News during a break from rehearsals at the First Midland Bank Amphitheatre. “And we have so many friends out on the road and so many things to be able to integrate into our show.” But fans of Jonas hits like “Lovebug” and “SOS” shouldn’t fret; the guys have been making sure their own songs are getting plenty of airtime during the show. “We are doing a Jonas Brothers set, and it’s actually a lot,” Kevin added. He said fans will even be treated to some oldies but goodies. “We’re playing a lot of Jonas Brothers songs, and we’re integrating ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘JONAS L.A.’ songs [and] songs from our past. We’re really excited.” Not only should fans be excited to catch the JoBros and their pals onstage, but the show also means the guys have a lot more friends to hang out with on the road. “It’s been a lot of fun,” Joe said. “We had a great time shooting the movie with those guys, so to kind of be backstage, there’s a lot of people on this tour. It’s cool for us to hang out with them all the time.” Earlier that day at a news conference at the House of Blues , the guys said that if they did find any downtime at all, they had a few places they like to hang out in Chi-Town. “Millennium Park is always a lot of fun. On my tour back in January, I took a trip up there,” Nick said. “Also, just walking the riverfront is amazing. It’s such a beautiful city. The fans here are some of the best in the world, I think.” Will you be checking the Jonas Brothers out on tour? Let us know in the comments! Jonas Brothers Arrive In Chicago For Tour Kickoff

‘It’s such a beautiful city. The fans here are some of the best in the world, I think,” Nick says. By Jocelyn Vena Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News CHICAGO — While the media, celebrities and musicians are descending upon Chicago to catch acts including Lady Gaga at Lollapalooza, tons of screaming girls are also coming to the city, albeit for a different reason: to see the Jonas Brothers , along with their pal Demi Lovato , kick off their latest tour. And when the guys hit the city on Wednesday, they made a very interesting observation. “We saw the [Lollapalooza] stage yesterday as we were pulling in,” Kevin Jonas told MTV News. “I was like, no way!” So, while the crew is in Chicago, do they have any big plans for their downtime? Little brother Nick explained that while in the city, he’d liked to take in some of the local sights. “Millennium Park is always a lot of fun. On my tour back in January, I took a trip up there,” he said. “Also, just walking the riverfront is amazing. It’s such a beautiful city. The fans here are some of the best in the world, I think,” Nick said. And, as Nick so graciously added, Chicago gave the guys one big milestone. “It’s where we played our first sold-out arena show,” he recalled. “So it’s got a very special place in our hearts.” Are you planning on seeing the Jonas Brothers on tour? Steven Spielberg Lines Up Cast for War Horse

Hey, remember when Steven Spielberg actually directed movies and didn’t just produce them? (Deep breath: He’s shepherding Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter , The Coen Brothers’ True Grit , Transformers 3 , Cowboys and Aliens , Real Steel , Super 8 and I Am Number Four , to name seven.) Well, not only does he have The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn coming in 2011, but he’s also got that reported adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel, War Horse , on the way as well. And that one’s just staffed up with the nicest set of UK character actors this side of Harry Potter .
