Ever since the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman shocked the world last Thursday, fans have either been grumbling about it or meme-ing it to death. Except YouTube user soylentbrak1, who has been hard at work envisioning what a Man of Steel sequel starring Ben Affleck as Batman would look like. The result was this fan-made trailer, also starring Breaking Bad Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor and Henry Cavill again as Superman. Check it out below and see if it changes your views on Ben as Bruce Wayne: Man of Steel 2 Trailer (Fan-Made) There isn’t much plot in this Man of Steel 2 trailer, besides the mention of a mysterious corporate merger and some tension between Superman and Batman. Given that it’s not a real trailer, however, it’s pretty top notch. Affleck in a Wayne-esque suit and Cranston with a shaved head, Walter White style, saying Breaking Bad quotes Luthor might say? Quite creative. Cranston playing Luthor has also been rumored, while Affleck’s casting has already been confirmed. Amy Adams plays Lois in the above trailer. Besides Breaking Bad, footage used came from Total Recall, Daredevil, Elysium, Iron Man 2 and The Dark Knight . Can you spot any other roles?
It turns out that Wagner the White Shepherd is not the only fan of Daft Punk. On last night’s Colbert Report , Stephen Colbert and a few famous friends kicked off “StePhest Colbchella ‘013” by dancing around to “Get Lucky,” roller skating and spinning like there’s no tomorrow. Watch now as Jeff Bridges, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon and others get down to the song of the summer: Stephen Colbert Daft Punk Performance Seriously, Obama was on The Tonight Show yesterday, yet this performance has stolen all the late-night headlines. It’s easy to see why.
Xavier McAfee is in danger of ruining the best show on television. The 29-year old has bee arrested for breaking into Bryan Cranston’s car on March 1 and swiping a script for Breaking Bad Season 5 . The actor reported the incident to police and said his shoulder bag – containing an iPad and these all-important pages – was taken out of his vehicle in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. McAfee was reportedly fingered as the culprit after bragging to patrons at a bar about the theft. This might seem surprising… until you read through the McAfee’s arrest record: four juvenile offenses, nine felony arrests (with one conviction), 11 misdemeanor arrests (with six convictions) and three pending felonies. A criminal mastermind this is not. But the script itself is yet to be retrieved, leaving many to fear that the future of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman will be spoiled before AMC can run new episodes this summer.
Just call him The One Who Scratches. For reasons unknown and yet totally awesome, an Instagram user by the moniker “georgethekat” has dressed his feline up like Bryan Cranston’s iconic character on the AMC hit Breaking Bad . He’s got the lab equipment. He’s got the goatee. He’s got the glasses. Someone get this pet a pork pie hat and an egocentric attitude that will likely get him killed and he’ll be good to go!

Tuesday night was a celebrity bonanza at the Time Warner Center in New York’s Columbus Circle for the New York premiere of director/star Ben Affleck ‘s acclaimed Argo . Stars Bryan Cranston , Alan Arkin , John Goodman as well as producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov were just part of the cortege of A-listers and New York glitterati who dined at the Porter House Steakhouse where Affleck held the spotlight in the bar talking to folks. Guests were divided into two screenings of the Toronto and Telluride film festivals world premiere based on the true story about a CIA agent (Affleck) who rescues six Americans hiding in the Canadian embassy at the dawn of the Iranian hostage crisis that began in November 1979. ML caught up with actor Bryan Cranston as well as Affleck at the event. Between chatting with a parade of well-heeled well-wishers including best pal Matt Damon, Oliver Stone, Sting, Ted Koppel, Brian Williams and more, Affleck gave a little insight on what motivated him to take on the project, telling ML he decided to make Argo happen because it was a fascinating story that was also a challenge, admitting to some fear in the beginning. “I wanted to direct it because it’s a challenge directorially,” he told ML. “It has three competing challenges: It’s a comedy, it’s a nail-biting thriller and it’s a CIA-intrigue spy story. I thought if I can execute that and combine those elements and execute them, unify them and tell something that is true and maintain the integrity of the truth of the stories then I could do something quite special. It’s the favorite thing I’ve ever been involved with.” In the movie, actor Bryan Cranston plays Jack O’Donnell, one of the six Americans hiding in the Canadian Ambassador’s residence after a daring escape into the streets of the Iranian capital soon after the American embassy was overrun by angry mobs with the acquiescence of the country’s new ruler Ayatollah Khomeini. Cranston said he received the Argo script from his agent and that Affleck and producer Grant Heslov had specifically asked for him to read it. “I thought, ‘Oh that’s flattering.’ And I thought, ‘Please God, let the story be as good as the offer,'” he told ML. “And it was quite frankly even better. The story is fantastic. It’s true, important and the screenplay by Chris Terrio is great. What I took away from this and what I think what audiences will is that it’s a simple story about people being selfless and doing things for all the right reasons – just to save other human beings. There’s no greater noble effort than this.” Ahead of production, a fellow actor touted to Cranston the chance to work with Affleck who in turn put a plug in for Affleck’s work ethic and being an all-around great guy. Events such as Tuesday night’s are meant to showcase Oscar contenders in their best light. And the Peggy Siegel Company, which hosts a number of these dinners and parties tied to screenings, is front and center in organizing events for titles hitting the awards circuit. “I got a tip from Jon Hamm, who said, ‘You’re going to love working with [Affleck].’ And I went, ‘Oh good,'” said Cranston. “As an actor turned director he’s one of the best and just as a director in and of itself, he’s terrific. He’s a kind and a thoughtful man. And he’s willing to do the work. People only see the finished product, but he’s very passionate about stories.” “I didn’t want to make a story that was partisan right before the election,” Affleck said to ML about Argo and the audience he hopes will come to see it when it opens this weekend. “I want a movie that the Repubicans I know and am friends with can go see. I do not want a movie that could be politicized internationally vis-a-vis, Iran. I went to great pains to just tell a factual story with out being didactic or tell the audience what to feel.” Argo Log line: On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies. Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck ( Good Will Hunting ) directs and stars in the film, which is produced by Oscar-nominee Grant Heslov ( Good Night, and Good Luck ), Affleck, and Oscar-winner George Clooney ( Syriana ). Not afraid to show off his political side, Ben Affleck is giving his take on the current U.S. Presidential campaign. Hitting the road promoting his political thriller Argo , the director and star of the film compared Republican nominee to past hopefuls who did not make it to the White House. A past ardent supporter of liberal causes and a full-fledged Obama fan four years ago, Affleck only offered tepid support for the incumbent. “I think Republicans really had a chance to win,” Affleck told A.P. during an interview about Argo . And they kind of ended up with like a sort of Mike Dukakis, Al Gore, Bob Dole type – who just couldn’t get people to see him as a real person somehow. Romney just had such trouble coming off as just like the kind of person you see at the grocery store. And I truly believe that has cost him the election.” Affleck went on to add that it looks “quite unlikely” that the Republican hopeful will unseat Obama, saying “negative momentum” can at some point cause a downward spiral for a campaign. “You start making mistakes and then all your advisers tell you, ‘You’ve got to raise your arms more!’ ‘You’ve got to talk deeper.’ So people just get into becoming robotic.” Still, if Affleck shares the same enthusiasm for Obama as in the first go-around, he is clearly holding back, saying that with hindsight his opinions have changed. “”I voted for Obama last time although he got to be all things to all people then,” Affleck said. ”And now he’s got a record which makes it really different … I obviously have more complicated feelings.” Affleck has often thrown his hat in the political sphere, doing lobbying in Washington and traveling abroad for various causes. He’s also said he wouldn’t rule out a future run for an elected office in the future. And his latest film, which debuted last month at the Toronto International Film Festival has already prompted talk of possibly multiple Oscar nominations. The film recalls an international crisis that many attribute for the failed re-election bid of Jimmy Carter in 1980, ushering in the Reagan era. Directed and starring Affleck, along with Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman, Argo is set as militants take over the U.S. embassy in Tehran in the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. While 52 Americans are held, six others escape and hide in the Canadian ambassador’s residence. The film recalls a plan hatched by the C.I.A. and specialist Tony Mendez (played by Affleck) to help the six to escape Iran. [ Source: Associated Press ]
